The 15 year anniversary of Vizzed is coming up and I wanted to do something special for it. Anyone have any ideas?

I also would like to do something special for the Vizzed Awards. Maybe add a few new categories. Any ideas? You can find last years here.

One of the things I had thought about doing was making a YouTube video showcasing the 15 years of Vizzed presented in a timeline view. It would scroll through each year, highlighting things like:
-Popular discussions
-Users who made an impact or were most active
-Significant site events
-Significant site features added
-Significant events that took place beyond vizzed

Not sure on what we could add, because we haven't seen much of any activity (if you don't count January and July only because those were TdV months), but that has been the case for like what, 4 years now.

Let's see on how 2019 turn out, would it be great, or one huge dumpster fire of a year.

Something that I always paid notice to was the changing of Administrators. But perhaps it's a bad idea to rehash a couple of those, since they weren't always clean breaks.

However a site skin for the anniversary might be nice, seeing the same thing every day gets old eventually. Other than that, ideas run dry because I use a tablet, and emulation based events are a no go for me.

In the YouTube video that I wanted to put together, I thought it'd also be fun to get into contact with current and former users (the ones that made an impact in some way) and have them record themselves answering these 2 questions (either with video and audio or just audio): What was your favorite Vizzed memory? How did Vizzed impact your life? Along with answering the questions, they would also say their Vizzed name (or names) and also their signup date and the age they were when they signed up. Each clip would probably be just a few seconds and would be played in the background during the timeline presentation.


pennylessz : I think it'd be cool to show who was an admin and global in the timeline.

The site does get the Christmas theme every December so to avoid interfering with that, if I were to do a special site skin, it'd only be for 1 or 2 days. I would host a competition to let users make one and let the community choose the best submission to be used for that 1 or 2 days but last time I hosted a competition like this, very few competed.

Davideo7 : I personally think we should do it with all staff members, although that can be hard due to the high numbers of Site Staff users, as for Local Mods as well, I personally don't think it's that many compared to Site Staff, but still, I like to see a huge list of all current and former Staff Members of all types, and the time period of their roles.

The_IB122 : 2 things that makes it hard to involve all Staff :
1. We've had a lot of staff members so it'd take a while to show them all.
2. It'd be harder to come up with a list of every staff member ever. I don't know remember who was all staff off the top of my head or when.

Also, some staff members weren't staff very long so it might be pointless to bother showing them.

I would be on that former staff list though. I always wanted to do more for this site, it just never happened. I didn't deserve to be a mod as a teenager though, so it was the right call to not hire me.

I'd watch that montage anyway, all this kinda worries me that the event will be underwhelming due to low activity. Long term members just tend to drop in after being inactive for weeks or months. Even I struggle to find posts to reply to nowadays.

As for the skin, I'm not sure how to even make those, so I can see your point. I'm sure many others wouldn't know either. I kind of wish there was tutorials for these things. I've been considering typing out an in depth layout tutorial, for using the advanced layout editor, but I'm not confident enough in my CSS.

Davideo7 : Good Point, we probably had like what, hundreds of Site Staffs that has come and went, so that I would agree that it's hard to list every single one of them, especially the ones that only lasted like a month or less, that didn't really make an impact for the site.

Davideo7 : Well, many things happened since I first came here. SegaSonic the Hedgehog and CarnEvil used to work but now they no longer do, all the Nintendo games are gone (which, except for the loss of Mario Bros. Classic Series, is no skin off my nose), Sega Saturn and Dreamcast games are available but most don't even work at all, and you can't even add information to your screenshots despite recent updates to screenshots specifically. In fact, the only good new addition since I first came here would be the inclusion of PlayStation games, which work flawlessly.

I know this isn't exactly a way to celebrate the websites 15th anniversary, but I do bring up a lot of good points about major problems that have been on this website for years now, namely the absence of SegaSonic and CarnEvil and the inability to add details to screenshots. I just hope these problems will get fixed soon, as they've been pushed aside for WAY too long now.
