I bought the Wii U back when it first came out in November of 2012. I never in a million years thought I'd end up selling it at some point. Unfortunately, the awful sales numbers along with little 3rd party support aside from SEGA and Platinum Games, along with a majority of the good Wii U games now being available on the Switch has led to it being pretty much worthless, at least to me anyways. Between all the Wii U games I sold plus the console itself I ended up getting around $200.

I'm at least thankful that the Switch ended up being a good investment. I knew it would be the moment I saw the first ad. Nintendo's done a much better job with marketing that system than they did with the Wii U, that's for sure.

Did any of you end up buying the Wii U at some point? Have you either thought about selling it or already sold it?

I'm giving mine to a friend when I move. It's too big to properly bring with me, without abandoning the box anyway. I'll miss the game pad menu functionality, but not much else. I pretty much enjoyed that console for all over one month. The Switch looks much nicer, but I've tried it, and the Joy Cons feel terrible in my hands. Which is sad, I'm more of a portable gamer myself.

I got really close to buying a Wii U at one point. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't purchase one. Aside from a few games, the library for the Wii U was lacking anything very good, and its gimmick of a touch-screen controller wasn't very innovative. I'm also glad Nintendo recognized their mistakes early on and started development on the Switch.

I haven't bought anything new since the 3DS just came out (so the old one). At least I can say, I want a switch pretty soon. I never wanted a Wii U. The only game on there I cared about was smash, and smash alone wasn't worth a new console.

I remember when I had my Wii-U, I only had it for 3 years (2015-2018).

On March 1st, 2018, I traded in my Wii-U and games in for a Nintendo Switch at GameStop, because I've been thinking about buying a Switch for awhile, because at the time, I knew it would be a matter of time that a Smash game would be announced for the Switch (which did a week later after purchased the Switch), at the same time, GameStop was running a promotion that if you trade in a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, or Nintendo Wii-U, you get 50% extra in-store credit, and I had a boatload amount of points saved up (enough to save $50 on anything in the store). I figured it's time to trade-in my Wii-U in for the Nintendo Switch before that promotion ended (which I only paid around $135 including taxes for the Switch and one game (Pokken Tournament DX)).

As for today, I don't really miss the Wii-U at all, especially that now Smash and Super Mario Maker is on the Switch, I am glad that I traded in my Wii-U, because the console would of been useless in today standards.

Furret : I was the same way, when I bought the Wii-U back in 2015, the only games that interest me was Smash 4 and Super Mario Maker, and that's mostly it, and heck, the most games I owned for the Wii-U was only 5 games (Smash 4, Super Mario Maker, Pokken Tournament, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Minecraft) before I traded it in for the Switch.

I still have mine but the touch screen broke on me so I can only play games that are compatible with the enhanced WiiMote. Kinda limits things a bit but I'm still able to whip it out when my nieces come over and want to play some Mario and other kid games. I haven't been able to convince them to play on my laptop instead. They prefer it on the big screen tv and the main one in my living room is the only non smart tv I have. It's a Sony Bravia that I haven't really looked into to see if I can project the laptop onto.

Legit the only reason you would want a Wii U nowadays is for its potential when it's hacked. Cause legit once it is it's 3 consoles in one instead of 2. A Wii U, a Wii, and a GameCube via Nintendon't.

Though what's annoying is that it isn't really good for emulation besides Virtual Console due to the Retroarch port being a broken mess that can't even unzip a file.

If pikmin 3 and wonderful 101 go on switch then yes i will sell it. paper mario colour splash is not worth keeping the system. on second thoughts i will keep it as a second wii instead when my original wii dies. I got the switch on day 1 and I am glad I did.

Would you be surprised to know I just have a Wii and a PS2? I never owned a PS3/PS4/PS5 or a Wii U lol.

So you sold your Wii U... did you get a good deal?

tRIUNE : oof, I know that feeling, you want to get a bunch of games to add to a game collection, but those bills prevent you to get more games.
