My favorite of all time is for sure super mario brothers 3. I loved this game so much because the graphics are a boss and then the gameplay is even better. Then world came and kinda messed it up a little.

Howeve the greatest ol' school Mario Platformer is definately Super Mario World. It makes you come back every time, and none other mario platformer after that has been so robust in its environments and enemy variation. Don't get me wrong, the New Super Mario Bros. games are great, but don't really capture all of the essence that Super Mario World put forth. I think they should take a step forward with the 2.5D Mario Platformer and make something like "New Super Mario World" or a brand new game that brings more to the table, just like SMW did on the SNES 19 years ago...

The best game so far is probably Super Mario Galaxy 2, although it did not have as much of an impact on me personally as per when I played Super Mario Bros. 3 and Mario 64 for the first time because it was a whole new thing. Still, even though there has been alot of Mario games, most do not dissapoint.

In my opinion the best game is always the original of the series. I don't count Donkey Kong as a Mario game, but as his own since the character was originally named Jump Man. So Super Mario Brothers is the best to me.
