Welcome to the ultimate conspiracy theory.

Marvel hates Lego.

Think about it. We rarely see Marvel properties in Lego video games or movies. I was thinking about this while watching The Lego Movie for like the 30th time. It's all DC characters and no Marvel characters. Why is that?

Both Lego Movie and Lego Batman movie use characters that are from other Lego video games, such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies. Plus In Lego Movie there's a bunch of DC characters and then in Lego Batman, there's even more. But there's no characters from any Marvel movie. At first I thought it was a licensing issue. Maybe the directors or franchise simply weren't allowed to use Marvel properties.

But that idea was quickly proven wrong. In terms of video games, Lego has developed multiple Marvel video games and it just so happens that the directors of the Lego Movie were signed on to work on a Spider-man movie. So that couldn't have been the issue. Then I thought, maybe it's Disney that hates Lego. Wrong again, since Lego also developed lots of games based on Disney, including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles, and a ton of Star Wars games. All Marvel gets is 3 video games. DC gets multiple movies and 7 video games.

It can't be a case of DC vs Marvel or else they wouldn't have made a few Marvel games in the 1st place or they wouldn't be able to make games of other Disney properties.

Only logical option is that Lego did something so bad to Marvel that Marvel now can't stand the sight of them.

I don't think that Marvel hates Lego. If they did, then LEGO Marvel Super Heroes wouldn't exist. Just google search "lego and marvel" or search it on amazon and you'll see that they've worked together on stuff before.

gamerforlifeforever : And then they stopped. I already mentioned the Lego Marvel games and now they don't do them anymore or work with them in any other media.

I think it’s likely a money thing. LEGO made a deal with WB/DC and “The LEGO Batman Movie” was in talks before “The LEGO Movie” became a blockbuster success. It’s about the partnership that makes financial sense, and having both Marvel and DC characters in the same movie might not have been legally possible due to licensing disputes.

A Marvel and LEGO partnership is still a thing, and I think it’s likely it still will be for a long time.

So I saw The Lego Movie 2 today and my theory was partially confirmed that there's some sort of a dispute.

There was a scene where they wanted to recruit the Avengers to help save the world followed by this line "Marvel won't take our calls."

Yeah it's a joke but it could be true.

It still could be a licensing thing. Licensing is very very complex, and just because Lego developed marvel video games doesn't mean they have license to create marvel lego. The Lego Group is a monster company with many smaller companies working under it, and then each company has several departments. When licensing is signed, it's usually intended of a specific use of the product or for a specific department.

License also are created, expire, and re-signed, meaning they change from year to year.
