Five years now, it’s a long time to go!

I can’t believe it’s already been this long since I registered. I normally don’t stick around any site for long, so seeing I’m still up and going here makes me realize how much I’ve changed and how much this site has influenced me.

Things have picked up this past year for me. I got another staff role which I’m liking even more than my other “main” one, I’ve been escalating through the CP standings (so close to top 5 right now), and more importantly, I won an overall jersey in the last ever Autumn TdV to then win overall and two jerseys last Winter, a feat I had deemed impossible not that long ago.

I almost never talk about my real life in these threads, but truth to be told, that’s because there wasn’t much to tell. Now I can say that my real life is becoming as busy as entertaining, having finally left university to rot in favor of two year-long courses, one for Voice Actor and another one for Radio & TV Broadcasting. I’m almost finished with the “written” part of both courses, I’ve been doing some amateur radio programs and we’ve started the group activities previous to our first project as voice actors. Clearly different from the monotonous life of university, my only regret is not having asked about this sooner and save up a couple years of my life.

What can this next year have in stock for me? Not really sure. Some months ago I was considering returning to local mod if an application opened, but now I’m very uncertain about the answer. That position meant a boost in my life that made me a lot more productive and said boost could be put to a very good use at this timing, but life being this hectic could mean not only not getting that boost but also failing to fare good at my position.

I may increase my activity a bit, because I also had in mind a return to writing guides for this site, though not as a staff role. I moved to Gamefaqs a year ago because the format and rules allowed for much bigger guides (and because of that meltdown going on in the last years), but that place doesn’t allow certain kinds of guides and doesn’t recommend trying to write anything for games with lots of content already, so Vizzed could be the place where I could post all those works. I’m still thinking on it, and it also depends on how much free time I have, but I do have the intention of completing the project list I made long ago and eventually I’ll get it done.

We’ll see how this year turns out. I’ll surely stay active, because I want to reach that goal of 5 consecutive years within the staff team, so I hope you will also be around by then!

EX Palen : Great job for sticking around Vizzed for 5 years. Yeah, 5 years can be quite a long time ago. Although in the terms of Vizzed, 90% of users are already considered Veterans, unless they bumped that Veteran status to 7 years.

It would be tough to tell on what will happen a year in the future, anything can in fact happen, Vizzed might finally get back in activity, or we might not see any posts in 6 months, anything can happen

I also remember you telling me (via Skype) about all the stuff that goes on with Gamefaqs and all of that.


I also hope you manage to stay active on Vizzed as well, with you and Gamefaqs, it's almost similar with me and DeviantArt, so I know on where you're coming from with his that you want to focus on 2 communities.

Nice to see a new active "veteran". Not too many people stick around these days.

IgorBird122 : I'm not on Gamefaqs because of the community. The forums there are very messy and confusing, and the summons and what not aren't as simple as in here, so I'm mostly absent in that aspect. I'm there just for the guides and to check on upcoming games to see what's being discussed and revealed, no way I'll trade this place for the toxic madness Gamefaqs is.

While it's true that most of the userbase is made up by veterans, I can somehow show pride in having been always around. I've never dropped below site staff since July 2014, something that not all veterans can say (and some can't do it for reasons that don't directly involve themselves, if you know what I mean), which clearly shows I've been in the game for a long while and still thinking on more.

I hope that Vizzed can at least maintain some activity. We were close to see 0 posts in the last 24 hours during June, and maybe another of the pasts months, so as long as we stay safe from those numbers it will be a progress.

thing1 : Yeah, most come and go within 1-3 years, I've had that happen to me before. What glued me here were the staff roles, it was something new to me and got me really excited and motivated, and it's still keeping me up around. Who knows, maybe I should try another different role and see if it gets me going for another 3-5 years lol

i really dont have much to say about currently being a vetran user, just trying to be an active user everyday to be known more around vizzed

To be on this site for 5 years is one thing but to be on staff that long is another, congrats on achieving that! Not many have been able to do that including myself. I think vets should be considered people who were here before the big bang (RGR's conception) else you got hundreds of thousands of people who can claim they are a vet within the next year or two. It just doesn't make sense to me, I have not done calculations but I wonder how many so called vets we got right now? 200,000+? To be one that actually still posts and is active though is a big deal so congrats.

JigSaw : Yeah, this site has been alive for so long that 5 years is a short period of time already, but having been active for almost 5 years straight without going MIA is indeed an achievement (or a disgrace, because life didn't demand much from me and thus I could spend time here, it can be seen either way).

In my opinion, I don't think that literally anybody having registered 5+ years ago isn't a veteran, it's a "term" only applicable if you're still up and around. We have many people who went inactive before reaching the veteran status they'd have if still active and many people who haven't logged in for months or years after gaining the veteran status, so we'd probably need another term for these "retirees" (sorry for the lack of a better term).

Maybe a breakdown of different veteran status depending on how long have you been around would also be nice. There's something similar in Gamefaqs that counts up the days you've logged in and awards different statuses as you reach milestones, so we could adapt it here in our own way. We should probably suggest this idea in the Vizzed Revival thread or the requests page as another way of upgrading user profiles.

being registered since 2010 was a long time ago but i am glad i came to this site thanks to a friend who found this for me in the first place
8 years here and theres still lots more to be done for one thing

Eniitan : You're back from the dead!

You've also been a very good friend and master. I hope I can find some time to post guides in here again so you can witness my progress since we both were guide writers back in time, but life is busy and I may not have that chance anytime soon (even more knowing I have two pending guides exclusive to Gamefaqs due to size issues that will take some time to create).

I miss talking to you through Skype and Discord. Not sure why you disappeared from Skype, but I totally need to remember to log in Discord at least often to see if we can meet anytime. I'm in regular chats with Igor, but he's simply no replacement for you.
