The Vizzed RGR game structure is undergoing maintenance, some game systems may not work for a little while. Maintenance shouldn't take any longer than 3 hours.

I've been working on updating the Retro Game Room pages for quite a while now, I'm finally finished so here's the updates:

Thorough Game Reviews +Viz
You can now write up as big of a review you want and you can earn a lot of Viz depending on the size of the review. You can also rate the game's Graphics, Sound/Music, Addictiveness, Depth, Story and Difficulty (and once enough games have been rated on these categories, I'll make it so you can search for games based on them). You also earn Viz each time your review is rated.

Ability to Rate Reviews and Reviews are sorted by Rating +Viz
You can now rate a user's review on 1-5, 5 being great and 1 being crap. When you rate a user's review, you earn 3 Viz and if you rated the review above a 4, the reviewer also gets Viz (and the reviewer will receive a notification that you rated their review if you rated it a 4 or up, if you gave it a 3 or below, they wont know who did it). The reviews are ordered by rating so the helpful reviews will show up first and the pointless reviews will be hidden.

Ability to Rate Screenshots and Screenshots are sorted by Rating +Viz
Just like the ability to rate Reviews, you can now rate user submitted screenshots. When you rate a user's screenshot, you earn 2 Viz and if you rated the screenshot above a 4, the screenshot taker also gets Viz (and the screenshot taker will receive a notification that you rated their review if you rated it a 4 or up, if you gave it a 3 or below, they wont know who did it). The screenshots are ordered by rating so the awesome screenshots will show up first and the pointless screenshots will be hidden.

Reviews are now linked to threads +Viz
When you go to create a review for a game, you're brought to a page which looks similar to making a thread, that's because you're actually doing both when you submit a review. The 'review thread' will be available on the RGR game's page and also available in the 'Reviews' sub forum in the 'Retro Game Room' forum, this gives the staff the ability to more properly monitor reviews and to trash ones that break the rules. This also means you earn lots of Viz when people reply to your 'review thread' and it also means that your reviews get to have their own title.

The header is now the same as the index header
Which means you have all the options on the RGR game pages as you would on the RGR index pages. You can search for games from game pages better now.

A few layout updates:
-Reviews have their own section now and are easier to sort through
-User comments have their own section now
-All of the scrollable boxes are a little smaller in size so that they can properly fit on a 1024x786 monitor
-The header of the index and game pages is a little more well organized and also a 'select' and 'unselect' all button for when choosing which system to search



It'd be great if you guys could go through and start rating screenshots and reviews you see for various games and also submit a few of your own! (keep in mind that their are daily limits on how many reviews and screenshots you can rate per a day).

The maintenance is finished, you guys wont notice anything new but you'll see the feature I've been working on in a few days.

If a few screenshots of yours are missing, you'll have to re-submit them by submitting them like you normally would (most likely using the screenshot manager page).

I've spent the past 2 days working on getting an updated version of the chat room back up. Spent a good amount of time securing it and adding a few features. You'll notice a few features removed (this is because V7 of the room no longer has those features unfortunately) and also a few extra features and you'll also notice that this version runs a lot better (and is less server strain).

You guys can definitely still donate toward the chat room I mentioned in the previous announcement (surprisingly no one donated but if we do get some donations, I'll put it toward a better chat room).

I was forced to remove the current chat room due to a few users finding ways to hack it. Now I'm looking into a better chat room. The current one I'm looking into is called 'Flashcoms Chat' which goes for about US $300 (features here and demo here). Since I don't have that much, I'm relying on the vizzed community to donate so that we can get a new chat room. I haven't picked out a chat room quite yet but $300 is the amount I'm aiming to raise for this since that'll be enough for most chat rooms that I'm interested in (or the cost to upgrade the current so that it is more secure).

The sooner you guys donate, the sooner we can get a new chat room up.

I'm looking for someone who has very good PHP knowledge and is also familiar with vBulletin boards and how their code works. I'm looking to hire someone to help JigSaw and I get a vBulletin 'Triple Triad' addon to work with my forum (which is a custom made forum). We're willing to help out as much as possible, we basically need someone to assist us (you can see the addon here).

I'm willing to pay up to US $100 and 50,000 Viz for anyone who can help us. I should point out that I already have PHP knowledge (most of this site is coded by me and some of it by JigSaw), I basically need someone for their vBulletin coding knowledge.

Maybe the easiest way to go about this is I give you the variables and DB info my site uses and you modify the software so that it works with it.

I've purchased a new Chat Room for vizzed board, so much better than the old chat rooms. To access it, click the 'Chat Rooms' link from the top of the site. It was about $85 and I might get some additional plugins (which cost extra) so for those who plan to use it often and have money, show your thanks by donating

(note that some features have been disabled due to abuse, including sound effects and ring bell)

Features Included:
-Faster and runs better than the old chat room
-Users can adjust their font color and style
-Users can change their avatar which represents them in the chat room (I'll eventually allow users to add their own custom avatars)
-Shows who is in which chat room the right side
-You can exchange pictures and files with other users (do this only in the appropriate room and abuse will result into a ban)
-A roll dice feature which is nice for sim battles
-Lets you change your user status for people in all rooms to see
-Other various IRC Commands available
-You can block users who are annoying so that you don't have to see what they're saying
-Flood control and swear filters
-Users can vote to ban someone if there's no mods around (it takes 3 votes for someone to get banned)
-Transcript button allows you to see chat log
-32 Smilies to use
-Users show up as idle if they are inactive for 5 minutes and get booted after 15 minutes of inactivity
-Staff now have mod powers which allow them to ban users
-From user profiles, you can see how many hours each user has spent chatting in the chat rooms (it's right below the thread stats toward the top center of the page)
-Users can create their own rooms and also put passwords on them (rooms disappear after 60 seconds of inactivity)

3 updates here:

Game History
You can now see the last 50 games you've played in order from your Gamer Profile (about half way down the page). This is handy for those who have the laptop item or have a game system and want to track which games they've played. Also note that if you play a game 2 times in a row, back to back, it will show that you've played that game 2 times back to back.

Cheaper Games
As everyone knows, Viz is easy to earn (you get 100 just from coming to the site each day) and is free but I've gone ahead and made many of the RGR games cost less Viz, the average game dropped by about 5 Viz. This is a permanent change. This will probably increase the cost of the server's bandwidth slightly so feel free to donate to help me out

More Graphics
I added Box Graphics and Screenshots to many of the Apple II games, before hardly any of them had graphics. I also added Box Graphics and Screenshots to many of the Commodore 64 games, none of them had graphics before. Having graphics to games is important because it helps people figure out whether a game looks like it's worth playing or not because many people enjoy discovering games and finding new ones to play.
