I think these days that Video updates do WAYYY better and get more attention than Text ones do. Also, you might get added attention/users from Youtube for making these videos. I think this would be a GREAT idea if embedded on the Index page.

Vanelan : I was just thinking, maybe once per a day I could have a full page notification that lets a user know that they haven't read the latest announcements. I could even do the same thing with Private Messages.

Jordanv78 : I agree, everything and everyone is more visual now days. People could even just listen to the video while doing other things and with it being available on YouTube, they can watch the video on their mobile devices as well.

But I think this would be the best bet to get people to actually watch them, and I really think if you made a separate channel for the updates, you could probably monetize that channel and make money off that with little worry about copyright claims (if done right) So not only would you possibly attract new users, you would be getting $$
