Metal Slug: it takes the run n' gun formula of Contra and makes it funny and keeps it action packed at the same time. Unlike Contra, Metal Slug did not seem to forego any censorship changes for other countries.

Honestly?
Contra went to the home port not long after, or maybe even before, its arcade release.
Later Metal Slug came out and it was only for the Coin-Op Arcade Cabinet for ... about Ten Years.
It did not hit the console or handhelds till well after 2000.
Either people were keeping S.N.K. out of the console world Or S.N.K. was Milking Every last quarter out of its fan base.
I have no Idea what the story is in Japan. I just know how hard it was for me to find a disk copy of the thing in the U.S. Then to discover that the store had the box on the shelf but not the disk itself.
I went through so much trouble trying to find a copy for a home-port that I eventually lost the thrill for Metal Slug.

Granted. Metal Slug is a superior Contra Clone.
But because of the odd business practices and trouble I went through attempting to get a copy for the home port?
I have to go with the original on this one.
Contra Scores my vote.

Contra had the Arcade Cabinet and the Home-Port available close to the same time.
With Metal Slug?
I could not find a Home-Port version to save my life.
Today?
It is free, and on the web.
Funny how things work out.

I might change my mind in a year or two. But for now? Contra has to score my vote.

Even if Metal slug have bitter graphics..contra still my best side scrooler shooting game.

I have always preferred Contra. I much prefer the greater challenge meaning that when I manage something in the game, I actually feel like I have achieved something. I think that Metal Slug is far too easy to get through. I think the difficulty is what puts many off Contra.
