I was just wondering why can you give some one zero trust points? Why would you give them trust points at all. I for one have never clicked to give zero trust points.

Maybe remove the option?

Just my two cents. But in my opinion I don't see the reason for it to be there. Even with my example up above, the purpose for such a number is pretty useless if that was the case.

When you rate someone it changes their number of Trust Points based on your rating. If you give a negative rating, they lose points. If you give a positive rating, they gain points.

If you decide to rate a person a second time, there will be a message on the page telling you what rating you gave them last time. If the previous rating was -1 and you rate them as 0, they will gain 1 Trust Point. If the previous rating was 2 and you rate them as 0, they will lose 2 Trust Points.

That's why there's an option for 0 Trust Points.

I've actually found it to be a really useful option.

After someone has been banned I quite often set my trust points on them back to 0. I give them a chance to impress me again after their ban has ended.... sort of a clean slate. If they do something positive then I'll give them trust points.... negative and I take away.

I guess the only reason you'd give someone 0 TP is like how everyone else said. They had some more or less and you give them 0 to return those TP. But if it's your first time rating someone, then the 0 button really has no function.

I find having the 0 TPs option to be very useful, because, as a example, 

I give a user 3 TPs I do trust and think he/she deserves it, and then later, he/she did something that made people downrate him/her, but I only take back my TPs, to see what he/she does later, and if it's good, I give it back, etc etc. 

That's one of the reasons I like the 0 TPs option.

It never occured to me to just give them 0 to start out with. Why punish them by adding a vote without giving them a point total? That's not cool.
