I dont think violence in video game has anything to do with a kid goin to his school with a gun or being a bully i think it has to do more with his home life and other stuff. so i guess they will have to take violence of of the new out of movies cause there is more violence going on in them then there is in most video games

I say no, because what it really comes down to is the same principle for guns. As in, video games don't kill people, people do. Violence in video games may desensitize us, but in order for someone to kill someone else, they either have to have a reason, such as revenge or something like that, or something has to be wrong with their brain chemistry such as with sociopaths. In addition, aggression is not the same as violence, which is what video games affect, and video game violence would only increase aggression if it was already there. Finally, it really depends on the person and their ability to separate reality from fantasy.

I vote yes because the more violent video games you play the more accustomed you get to the violence, and especially when your younger you want to imitate it.

I think thats only if the child is not brought up correctly and taught to understand the differences between fiction and reality.

Yeah, but that happens a lot with non-caring parents. They don't care what the kid does, so they let him/her do whatever they want, and they just copy what they see in video games and T.V.

Children are impressionable, but it will take far more than some violent video games to turn them into killers. Teen and adult gamers should just plain know better anyways.

You make a good point dts25, its not the games content that makes people violent its levels that are too hard; people will go crazy and throw their controllers at the wall

i think that this is absurd. everything we have learned from birth does not evaporate the moment we pick up our first extremely violent video game. all the morals, all the right and wrong does not evaporate from killing on god of war, hitman, or any other game for that matter. sure, i will admit, some games have overdone it, putting in way too much violence, more than necessary. i see it as we should protect young gamers from m rated games not as much as a national security issue, but more of a censorship one, just like r rated movies, and vulgar music.

you are generalizing far too much... especially since video games would be part of their surrounding environment.

I have come across studies of behavior that are starting to suggest that the viewing of violent media and "expressions of anger" don't relieve anger but actually increase the likelihood of violence and anger.

Now, every person is different and is affected differently by media. Not everyone who plays a violent video game will all of a sudden shoot someone because of that game. But I do think there is at least some influence. And when you combine violent media with a child that has no support structure in the family or community then you make it far more likely to have a violent person as a result.

games don't tell people to kill people.
game don't put the gun in there hand and tell them to shoot people.
only one thing makes someone want to kill someone else there own crazy mind.

If someone thinks that or believe that a video game made a kid shoot up a high school or thinks that game contributed to the aid of him killing those people are wrong.
