Just an update. Tom got back to me 2 days ago and is considering this again. Although he's having difficulties remembering how everything worked with the RGR Plugin since it's been more than 6 years since he last worked on it. But still, he said the money would be really useful and wants to be able to figure this out. I want to keep this fundraiser going so that we have more stuff for him to add to the plugin so that he has more money to earn, giving him more incentive and motivation to work on the plugin. He hasn't messaged me back in 2 days though so I'm not sure if he got stuck or doesn't know how to fix the plugin but I'll keep you guys up to date with a reply to this thread roughly every 2 days.

Well, let's hope Tom does get the motivation back to tamper with the plugin again. Can't believe it's been so long since the release of 2.40, the internet world has changed so much since then and it's hard to keep up with old procedures.

Since the fundraiser seems to be enough for RetroArch to be implemented, do you think we could use the extra donations so Tom can add some sort of updater to the plugin? It'd be a drag to contact him to update the plugin just because Retroarch added more cores or updated existing ones, unless we truly have to add an entirely new emulator or front end we should be able to deal with that ourselves. I don't want to sound as pretending he's an obstacle or anything like that, I actually don't want to bother him for small fixes while at the same time allowing the plugin to stay updated with the same content it currently has. If it's at all possible, of course.

Tom hasn't messaged me in about 4 days now. As far as I know, he's still interested in this and may still be looking into it but I believe the road block he's encountered hasn't allowed him to make any progress. I haven't had to pay him anything at least and don't plan to until he has something.


EX Palen : It's been nearly 6 years since the RGR Plugin was last updated. Never thought I'd invest money into it ever again honestly but with the flash discontinuation stuff, I have no other choice.

I'm not for sure if the fundraiser would cover RetroArch yet, since it's something big to add and would come with a lot of obstacles. I wanted to get all of the emulators in the plugin updated because they're all 6+ years out of date. Having them all updated might not leave me room for RetroArch to be added unless we get another $200-$300 worth of donations, which we very well could.

Tom had wanted to do some sort of updater for the plugin in the past but I think the budget for that would be too high. It'd be great though for RetroArch because those cores are being updated all the time. I agree though, it'd be great to have the plugin self sufficient where I don't need anyone else to help out. If I had more time, I would learn everything necessary for updating the plugin and just continue the rest of the updates myself but since the architecture is getting old and since there are newer technologies available since it was created 10+ years ago, I'd almost find it more efficient to rebuild it from the ground up. But again, time is the biggest obstacle with that.
