A fantastic RPG   gamerforlifefor..
Final fantasy VI Advance is a fantastic game that truly defines the RPG genre. It has an extremely diverse and memorable cast of characters such as the villain Kefka who in my opinion is the greatest villain in the history of Final Fantasy, Terra she has amnesia and can use magic, Locke who is a thief (TREASURE HUNTER!), Edgar who is the king of Figaro, Sabin (Edgar's brother), Shadow he's an assassin who has a dog named interceptor, Cyan the lone survivor of the kingdom of Doma, and Celes who is a former general of the evil Empire. There are other characters but those are the main ones. I wish I could go into more depth about each character but that would require sharing massive spoilers which I refuse to do.
This game has one of the best storylines in video gaming history. I'm not going to spoil anything but trust me if you're looking for a game with an incredible storyline this is the game for you. The graphics are some of the best the SNES has to offer. The soundtrack is absolutely incredible especiallly that final battle!
I would definitely be willing to play this masterpiece again! Also the depth that this game has like most RPGs is massive there's tons of stuff to do and the game will take up many hours of your free time. Also the game is pretty tough. The one issue I have with the game is that the Chocobos are really hard to control which can be a pain.
Overall this game is a true masterpiece and is one of if not the best Final Fantasy game ever made.

One of the greatest video games of our time   darksonic11
FINAL FANTASY VI(6)
Well this ones a classic.
Final Fantasy 6 was one of the first great RPGs I played is is probably the best, while it becomes quite easy around the end it still has an epic story that just keeps you coming back for more.
Story:
As I already stated the story of final fantasy 6 is amazing but it is also notable for it's surprising amount of playable charterers (total of 14!!!) that all have unique personality's and almost all of them have fully fledged back stories.
The story starts in a steam punk world which lacks thing that other fantasy worlds have:Magic (Or at least for now...)
As a substitute for magic in this world there is something similar yet entirely different from magic named Magiteck which is produced by the evil gestahlian empire and can be made into powerful suits that can shot powerful lasers that can destroy almost any for the rises against the empire.
Now you the player must take control of Terra, a girl with amnesia and a strange, unique ability to use magic finds a rebellion named the returners on their quest to bring down the empire and return peace to the world.
Game play:
Being an RPG this game follows the standard style but has the Final Fantasy staple known as the ATB(Active time battle) system that means that time is always moving and you have to think fast if you want to win.
Sound:
Well this games soundtrack blows all others out of the water and is notorious for one particular track the boss theme: Decisive Battle.
Difficulty:
The difficulty is one of the only downsides of the game is it gets really low once you get the spell Ultima because it's highly over powered and it's weapon counterpart the Ultima Weapon  is just as overpowered.
This game is recommended to any RPG fan as it is totally worth your time... So what are you waiting for? PLAY IT NOW!
If you liked this game you should also
check out Final Fantasy VII(7),Final Fantasy IV(4) and chrono trigger.

Final Fantasy VI   Kyle!
Now most young adults have played Final Fantasy VII, but what was the other masterpiece, what GBA (GameBoyAdvance) game was called the 'Square replay?' Final Fantasy VI was by far one of the most beloved games by 'Square' that captured our hearts, with emotion, drama, the characters emotional losses, is a great description of Final Fantasy VI earning a spot in my heart (Aside from Final Fantasy V, the great job system captured my attention) . Now there's a war going on, and the leader of the Empire Kelfka is main enemy that's ruined many's lives, you play mostly as a girl named Terra, a girl who cannot remember her past after she had a slave-control crown removed. She encounters many interesting allies and enemies (But mostly allies :D ), now the story line is great but I won't spoil ANYTHING to any of you. But I will refer this game to someone who loves RPGs and is willing to spend hours of addictive gaming towards this beauty, so I know this is short but I just can't express how I feel about this wonderful game, and those of you RPG hatters I dare you to play this RPG and say it's horrible or I'm wrong about this short review!

Final Fantasy 6   legacyx
Without a doubt final fantasy 6 is one of the best final fantasy games in the installment. Now that's besides the fact that final fantasy is one of the greatest rpg/adventure manufactures ever. FF6 is great for a few main reasons. First, It is a well executed rpg that has hours of play and indefinite customization. Second the difficulty is not high enough to be obnoxious but just good enough for you to get a challenge out of it, the cinematography is superb and the depth is massive.  Finally, The game involves more the just mindless head bashing click and kill. You need a working strategy and the ability to adapt, the designers produced it that way on purpose to keep it interesting no doubt. Honestly, I very much enjoyed this game and guarantee you will too. So give it a go!

Expectations can be a Cruel Thing   DocRetro
If you're reading this because of the relatively low score I gave this game, understand that I had a lot of built up hype going into Final Fantasy 6. I had heard a lot of claims of "best Final Fantasy" and whatnot, so I very reasonably thought it was going to be the pinnacle of the Final Fantasy gaming experience. At least, it would be better than what I had played before, so I thought. Now understand that, having never experienced these games as a child, I had also decided to play them sequentially. I started with FF1, moved to FF2 and so on. Now as it turned out, FF5 ended up being my favorite of the first five I played. Its gameplay was so good that I couldn't wait to see how much FF6 had improved on it. Unfortunately, with the bar set that high, I couldn't help but be disappointed.
To elaborate, we'll begin with the story. Final Fantasy 6's story comes with few surprises if you've already played previous Final Fantasy games. There's an evil empire, your characters are going to join the resistance movement, it's all fairly standard stuff. The surprises lie in two things, the first being the game's setting. While the traditional European Fantasy stuff is largely intact, in FF6, you get the sense that it underwent an industrial revolution without bothering to change to the Victorian style. You'll be riding the occasional steampunk mecha and piloting an airship that's far more like a blimp than a boat with propellers. I think it fits the somewhat darker tone of 6, kind of showing how there's not as much innocence in this decaying world anymore. The other surprise is that you'll be seeing the game's main villain and final boss quite frequently throughout the game, even right at the beginning. Now mind you, this doesn't actually mean much as said villain is a really bad character, having almost no backstory, character development, or even well established motivation, but it does mean that the fact that what you're fighting is EVIL is much more readily apparent. You actually get to see the evil empire's people do evil things, and you see them do it quite often. It goes a long way in making the player really want to defeat this heinous person.
However, on the other hand, the playable characters are almost all well-established, each going through a character arc or two of their own. A substantial part of the game is spent exploring the people you're playing as, to the point where it really eclipses the main plot of the game in an almost Evangelion-like narrowing of focus. It's a culmination of the direction the stories were heading in FF2 and FF4. 2 was almost all plot and no character, 4 had a decent mix of both, and 6 is almost all character and no plot, which is especially apparent in the last third of the game, which is spent merely traveling around the world and regaining the party members you lost in the transitory event by finding them and working through their various neuroses. Or not. You are only required to have three party members to beat the game, and while it's easier to beat the final dungeon if you have everyone, it's by no means necessary. I completely passed over rescuing main character Locke, for example, because he was my least favorite party member in the entire game, and I did this at the cost of the game's most powerful spells. But it didn't matter, I still stomped the final boss flat. Like many, many turn based games, you can feel free to reduce the difficulty as you please merely by grinding enough. But anyway, please do note that this doesn't evenly apply to all characters. Gau, for example, will get very little development or even much of anything. Same with Strago. But your main characters, Terra, Locke, Celes, Edgar, Sabin, etc. all do get their share of screentime with stories that surpass anything you've seen in a Final Fantasy game before in depth. Not that this is necessarily a good thing (I will always despise Locke even if he is more developed than the entire cast of FF5), but it certainly does make the characters, and thus the world around them, feel more alive. But anyway, barring a few particularly memorable moments, the actual plot of the game isn't likely to leave much of an impression on you. It has been a while since I last played 6 at the time of this writing and I struggle to think of more than 2-3 things that actually happened in the game and had a significant bearing on the plot as a whole rather than just the story of some character. But the moments you do remember, however, are likely to stay with you for time to come.
On to the gameplay. In short, the gameplay of FF6 is not only a step down from 5, it's also a step down from 4 and 3 and yeah it's pretty much the worst of any of the 2D games. But why is this so, you ask? It's a bit complex. Allow me to explain. Now, similar to how each character has their own personalized place in the story, each character also has their own personalized place on the battlefield. Every one of them is wholly unique, with the exception of Terra and Celes, who are near clones of each other in terms of what they can do and what they can equip, which is not a bad thing at all as the two of them are arguably the two most useful, powerful and versatile characters in the game. These align heavily with the classes of prior games (so you'll get Terra and Celes, who are more or less Red Wizards, Locke, who is an obvious Thief, Edgar, who's obviously meant to be a Dragoon, etc.) However, the game does throw you a few curveballs in regards to this, such as Sabin, the monk stand in who ostensibly has fighting game command inputs in order to do his special attacks, but falls behind in the equipment department and is thus fairly weak at the end of the game in contrast to your standard FF monk (unless you equip him with the relic that allows him to equip anything, that is). And then you have Gau, who is a totally off the wall ridiculous character that attacks by going into "Rages," in which he basically goes berserk after you choose a rage for him to go into, using random attacks based on the enemies that Gau has encountered. If Gau encounters an enemy, he gets the Rage for that enemy, so the game has over 200 rages for him to go into, and many of them have abilities beyond anything you'd expect, making him a very powerful character if you're willing to put some effort into experimentation and/or gamefaqs research. There are others as well, such as Setzer, who has attacks based strangely on gambling, or Relm who has an (exceedingly useless) painting gimmick. But the main problem is, for all this variety, the level progression of these characters is all mostly the same. True, they start off with different basic stats, but by the time you get to level 30 or so, their stats stop increasing entirely and the only further boosts you'll get from levelling up come in the form of Esper bonuses.
Let's talk about Espers, shall we? In essence, they're a simplification of the ingenious job system in FF5, but when I look at the way it was simplified, I can't help but think "if it wasn't broken, why did you fix it?" So here's how it works: the game has no traditional "Summoner" class like prior Final Fantasy games do. Instead, throughout the story, you'll find spirits who will choose to fight with you called Espers. These you can equip to any character, and they may then be summoned for special effects on the battlefield. However, these also cause two separate effects for the person equipping them, the first being what magic they learn. A few spells are indeed learned naturally, but most are acquired through Espers. Each Esper has a set of spells a character may learn from them, and while some Espers have some spells in common, the rate at which the character learns these spells will be different. And do note that this applies to absolutely any character with one rather unfortunate exception. Even Gau, the boy you resigned to doing nothing but letting the computer do random attacks for, can spend the entire battle casting Ultima over and over again if you so choose. While this is clever, magic is generally so useful that it overrides many of the individual abilities that your characters have, meaning that because every character can learn magic, you'll start to have characters blend into one another using similar strategies. This is made worse by the fact that, as I said earlier, after a certain point all the stat boosts you see from level ups come from Espers as well, meaning that you can influence what your characters' strengths are, and unfortunately, it's terribly easy to hit a stat cap for either physical attack or magic if you train properly. So if you play your cards right, by the end of the game you'll have characters with exactly the same stats and exactly the same spells, differing only in what equipment they can use and what their special abilities are. This truly is problematic, because as I've been alluding to, the special abilities generally do tend to lose their effectiveness as the game goes on (if they were ever useful to begin with) to a point where ultimately, the only real reason to use one character over another lies in what they can equip. But do keep in mind that the game makes it terribly irritating and time-consuming to actually max out a stat using Espers, even if it is easy to do. The reason for this is that you only get one Esper for each particular stat boost. So if you want to have multiple characters get the +2 to magic upon level up at once, tough luck, because only one character can get that boost at a time. So if you want to max out your party, you effectively have to put all but one of your party members in reserve and go grind with one character and the Espers you want on him or her until he or she is maxxed out, and then do it for the next character, and so on, because they don't get anything for levelling up without an Esper on them and the level cap is at 99. For what reason could they not just have a simple level up system for the whole game? Or perhaps use the FF5 system of level ups meaning nothing but HP/MP boosts and your actual stats being determined by job abilities and equipment? Either would have worked far better than this system, where you can lose stat points forever if you plan poorly. Things like this sour my enjoyment of the game.
But, as for the presentation, the game looks absolutely gorgeous for an SNES game. The sprites and environments are beautifully rendered, the spell animations are appropriately engaging, the colours pop everywhere, the designs for the characters and monsters are really nice, and overall it's just a really good looking game. Regardless of whatever other faults I can find in this game, I will never deny that it looks pretty as all get out. And the music is oh so fine as well. Each character generally has their own theme, and some of them are just amazing. Setzer's theme for example, is awesome, full of the grandeur you'd want of a swashbuckling airship pilot. Cyan's theme is pretty great too, can't help but love the haunting flute that accompanies him even if he's not the best character to play as. The boss theme is kind of goofy sounding for the tone of the game, but I can't help but enjoy it as well. However, while many have praised the opera house sequence, I didn't particularly care for it. I think it was a bit too ambitious for its time. Something like that would have sounded great on, say, the Playstation, but the Super Nintendo just wasn't the right format for it. Nonetheless, it's memorable as well.
Regardless of anything I've said, I'm still going to recommend playing Final Fantasy 6. It's an iconic game, and there's just no way to get into a serious discussion of the series without playing it. You'd be forgiven for not having played, say, FF2, but this game? Not so much. However do take all the praise you hear about it into careful consideration and temper your expectations, because if you didn't play this game as a child, you probably won't enjoy it as much as some other people seem to. The rose-tinted glasses around this game seem to be heavily in effect, and while the game does have its merits, I don't think it warrants that much praise. But, that is for your own discretion. Game responsibly.

Final Fantasy VI Advance - 0X0Toshi Review   0X0Toshi
Hello Vizzed gamers and welcome to an 0X0Toshi game review! Today we tackle a personal favorite, Final Fantasy VI Advance for the GBA!
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics are really good for a Game Boy Advance game. Albeit the game runs on (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) a 32-bit gaming engine. The reason for a 9 is that you can see a lot of minor details put into the characters sprites and even the enemy sprites. The only reason it's not a 10 is because I have to be a little rough, as to not show favoritism. That being said, the graphics are really good for the engine the game runs.
Sound: 10/10
Okay, so you might ask me, "Toshi, why a 10 for sound?" My reply is this: Not only is the music memorable and, in my opinion, truly beautiful. The music in this game helps set the mood of the story. Plus the Game Boy's sound limiters didn't hold back any of the game's magnificent soundtrack. So for these reasons, Toshi gives the sound a 10.
Story: 10/10
So, without spoiling this remarkable story, let me try to explain why it's also a 10.  The memorable characters, the trails and tribulations each character must face and the all around plot of the game make old Toshi give it a 10/10. If you think it's due to favoritism, I have only one thing to say... Go play this game and see for yourself the great story!
Depth: 8/10
Okay, so the game starts off pretty linear. But as you get farther into the game more things will open up to you, Not too linear, not too non-linear. So because of that, Toshi gives depth an 8/10.
Difficulty: 7/10
Now this one is very hard to rate, because I find this game pretty easy. However, I've played Final Fantasy games all my life. If you are new to the series, you might have some difficulties. Not to mention any enemy can kill you if you aren't prepared. So with all of those factors thrown in Toshi gives difficulty a 7/10.
Math Time Kiddos!
9+10+10+10+8+7=54
Now, 54 divided by 6 is an even 9.
So overall, Toshi gives this game a much deserved 9/10.
Go ahead and let me know if there are any other games you wish to have me review, just send me a Private Message letting me know what game you wish to have me play and review. This is 0X0Toshi saying: Play hard guys!

one of the best games
Final fantasy 6 advance is one of the best final fantasy games in my opinion.
GRAPHICS-9
The graphics for this game are very good for a gba game.I really like them all.I didnt gave it a ten because there are some graphical issues, but nothing really major or really important.
SOUND-10
The sound is perfect,  I love most sounds in-game,especially the standard boss battle theme.
ADDICTIVINESS-8
The game is really addictive, I only dont gave it a ten because its a really long game, and sometimes you dont know what to do.
STORY-10
The story is excellent, I love it,even though its really long.
DEPTH-10
As I already said, the story is really big, theres lots of sidequests and secrets.  You wont be disapointed.
DIFFICULTY-7
The game isnt really difficulty, but, without the right strategy, you will need to grind some levels, but its nothing really that bad of a deal.
OVERALL-10
The game is really good, even with some really annoying bosses, definitely worth a try.

Final Fantasy VI Advance Review   rustgarde
This is my first review, hope I do this right.
Story: The story is same as in original super Nintendo version, about 1000 years ago there was a war called "War of the Magi", when humans and espers (magical creatures) were fighting against each others. First they lived in harmony, but humans lust for power was too strong and they wanted to harness espers magical energies to them self. 1000 years have past and espers has been gone the whole time, until the Empire noticed that there is a frozen esper in a mining town called Narshe. Empire sended their best soldier Terra Branford and 2 other soldiers (Biggs and Wedge) to investigate this esper.... What will happen next? You will have to play the game to know more....
The story is very interesting because, when you start the game. You will get some interesting information about the games history and you want to know more, soo you have to play it more and more to get more knowledge. There isn't really any boring parts so where every you have to go, you will do it without any "daaaamn not this sh*t again, getting sick of this.:" attitude. Best part about the this game is that there is 14 playable characters AND everyone of them (expect 3) has their own side story, so you will be able to know more about their past and personal feelings, and what kind of persons they really are. SO there is a fantastic main story and very interesting side stories that makes this game one of the best Final Fantasies I have ever played. I will give 9, the reason why I didn't give 10 was that the ending was a little disappointment, but still a great game.
Depth: There is be some spoilers here so read with care..... If you want to speed run this game, I believe it is possible to do less than 10 hours, but because there is lot of side quests and lot of espers hidden in the world. The reason why I like this Game boy Advance version more than the original is that there is 2 new dungeons hidden. First one is called the Dragon's Den, where you can fight those 8 dragons again, but they are more powerful than before and there are few more new bosses there, the best part about this dungeon is that you can find ultimate weapons for every character you have. And there is 4 new espers in this version too, so have fun finding them..? There is also the Coliseum where you can bet your equipments to win better stuff. And of course the Veldt where you can train one of your characters to become much stronger and greater asset to your team. And finally if you are those kind of people who wants to play games 100% there is Bestiary, when ever you beat a enemy/boss all information about it will go to the bestiary so you can later look what kind of items you can steal from it, it's weaknesses etc...I give 9/10. Because there could always be more you can do, but still there is enough things to do.
Addictiveness: Hmmm... When I first time played this game, about 15 years ago, it was a love on the first sight. I played it about 4-5 hours a day. And when I finished it. It took about week or so and I started it again. And later when I bought Nintendo DS (about 4 years ago) I found a Final Fantasy VI Advance in a store so I bought it without a hesitation and I have to say there is still times when I just spent few days just playing this game and enjoying the story again and again. I don't think I will never get sick of this game. I will give 8/10 because I really don't play much video games anymore, expect these kind of games that makes you want to live the story over and over again.
Graphics: So graphics... I have to say that they are so fricking awesome ! I really love that every single enemy is drawn so detailed and the background in battles are so nice... One of my favorite piece of art was that phantom forest (not sure about the name...) And all those special effects ( magic spells, summon magic's etc.) looks very nice. Overall I think Final Fantasy Vi had one of the coolest graphics compared to other super Nintendo games. There was not really any graphic changes when they remaked it on Game boy Advance. Only re-model/re-censored few sprites, and I think this is a good thing that they let the graphics alone.. (Really did not like what they did to this game when they remaked it on iOS...Gyrrrr !) I will give it 10/10 because I just love this game.
Sound: Two words. NOBUO UEMATSU. One of the greatest video game composers in the whole world, I just love his music/sounds. In this game the battle music and the boss battle are just so great, you have to keep your TV's sound on, you just can't play this game without voice, you just can't sorry... I don't believe there are any annoying sounds or music that makes your head hurt....Don't really know what else I should tell about this.. 10/10 Mr. Uematsu forever. <3
Difficulty:
When I played this game first time it was hard, really hard... I even lost to that first boss couple of times, there was a some of the bosses/enemies that gives you a hard time to beat them, but when you get hang of this game, there isn't really so many enemies that you just can't beat. The hardest thing about this game was to kill the 8 dragons, but nowadays they are pretty easy to conquer. But I believe this game will be very challenging to some people, like it was for me when I first time played it... So I will give it 6/10.
Overall: Let's see... I believe the overall will be 8.6. The last words and thoughts or something like that... Hmmm..Well if you like to play fantasy games like Final Fantasies, I highly recommend to play this game at least one time, so you will know what I'm saying here.. The story, characters, music... etc. Will make your gaming experience unforgettable.
Peace and love, please comment how I did, because I was planning to make a new review, it will be much longer and more detailed, but it will take some time to finish it.

Final Fantasy VI Is the best Final Fantasy EVER!   DanielFantasyVI
Final Fantasy VI, without a doubt is the best Final Fantasy game Square Enix has to offer. Despite the new Final Fantasy Games that is being released at the moment, Final Fantasy VI has a lot of great stuff that those games can't imitate. It has great graphics compared to most Game boy Advance games and has a fantastic storyline. This game, for me is highly recommendable for those seeking to be a RPG player or addict in the future. Also, this game is fun, even as a kid.
Personally, I played and finished this game 5 times since when my dad bought it (I was about 5 years old back then) and I'm planning to repeat finish it again and again because it is not boring like other games. It is very fun and exciting, even if you know what will happen next.
The graphics for me is very outstanding because of the 3-dimensional effect that it gives. The enemies are realistic and the characters portrait are nice. Compared to other games, this has better game and is "one-off" among the other games in this game system.
The sound is almost perfect, I'd say. Even though most are classical and played by the orchestra, the sound, especially the music is great and soothing. Usually, I'd open this game and turn on the music player. Then, I'd play The Dancing Mad Tier - Part 3. I love on repeating it again and again because I, myself is a musician. Actually, I know how to play that but I only play it seldom because it is too complex and hard. It often tires my hands. The composers should have been very gifted in music composing those compositions.
It is also so addicting. As stated in the previous paragraphs, I played this game numerous times and listen to its music again and again. This game is so addicting and I encourage players to try this game on for size.
The story is also stupendous. Some scenes are very emotional and it affects the player's emotion. At one point, you'd think the game is finished but actually, it is just 1/4 of the game (Players, perhaps you know this scene already. I'm not going to be a spoiler. The game takes some time to beat. On average (From start to finishing the final dungeon), It takes me 2 weeks to finish the whole storyline which makes this game great for future RPG players.
The game is very big, as I stated in the previous paragraphs. It takes a while to finish the game and to get to know the things in the game that every players must. The game is shrouded in mysteries, too. Sometimes, you just get puzzled on the identity of the characters (Players, perhaps you know the 2 that I'm talking about). Also, the controls are easy and you can easily get the hang of it. I rated it a bit high because of the bosses. Actually, to be honest, It took me an AWFUL lot of time at the 4th boss. I actually diminished ALL of his HP instead of typing a combination but past is past. I know almost everything the game has.
Overall, Final Fantasy VI is a great game that everyone has to play.

Final Fantasy VI Review   Tekky7
I'll admit, I thought this game would be worse than it actually was.
Did I mention I'm wrong all the time? This game was absolutely incredible. The storyline was nothing
short of a masterpiece, the characters were immensely detailed, and
the game itself had incredible depth. The Espers were fun and some
were challenging to collect. The sheer number of characters that are
available was amazing, each holding their own amount of strength and
diversity, and each are even further customizable through the Espers
and all of the rare weapons. There is also a countless number of
bosses, side quests, and extra dungeons that make this game take hours
to complete. Kefka's music in the final battle is epic, as is the
soundtrack altogether. I especially like the “Fierce Battle”
soundtrack played during way less boss fights than it should be. In
my opinion, the critics were right when they praised it for what they
did. You can't go wrong with this purchase of an incredible RPG.

It's good, but not amazing... I'm an FF7 fan so please do not send me rage comments.
KingofRPG 05-12-13 - 05:37 PM
If it's early in the game (pre-esper), then that's bad.

Considering there isn't much to be censored in the first place, that isn't something to be worried about, though I suppose the Retranslated and Improved hack for the SNES version would be your best bet in that case.
Oneaphelion 03-24-13 - 06:51 AM
 The least censored?
ARedLetterDay 03-23-13 - 03:03 AM
@Oneaphelion, depending on what you're looking for, each version is pretty good. If you're looking for one of the cleaner translations, the GBA version is one for you, but the PSX version stays truer to the source material.
Oneaphelion 03-23-13 - 02:57 AM
Which version is the most complete: SNES, PSX, GBA?
leondre77 03-22-13 - 10:38 AM
