A sweeping epic   endings
Final Fantasy II (4) was when I really started taking note of this series. I enjoy this game alot, though its not my favorite of the series, its very near and dear to my heart, much like Final Fantasy 7 is for a lot of people.  I would also say this game has one of the better stories of the series as well.
This is the first use of Time Action Battle, moving beyond waiting turns, and letting the enemies have their own attacks in between yours. Each character (and foe) has a bar that fills up, when ready, you can attack. This was a big change and a welcome one, removing the stagnant turn by turn system and became something Square relied on for years in continuations of the series.
Graphics: 8
The SNES looks great here, the characters are still a bit squashed and without very much detail, but its light years ahead of the first game on the NES. The larger towns and items are what I first noticed, all the new shops, with small benches and stools, pots that could contain potions, some hidden walls, the interactions were way more than I expected, and a good move towards making the rpg world more fleshed out. The airship exterior looks realistically sized, the castle Baron, impressively grand, there is a lot of scale to take in this game.
Not content with just giving us a wide map of the world, you also have two other areas to explore beyond the oceans and seas of the world. I'm not going to spoil them, but each is a world in its own right - although each smaller and with less to do than the other.
The character sprites are generally small, but very colorful (even townspeople), and as each member of your team is already a premade character - they stand out well. The blonde-white hair of Rosa, the healer, the green hair of Rydia the Summoner, the scaly green/blue armor of Kain- each is unique and can be picked out of a lineup. The spells are more impressive, with the summons introducing us to Titan first, someone whom we would summon for many Final Fantasies to come.
The graphics were good, but not exactly stellar. There were still better games to be seen on the SNES, but for RPGs, this was nothing to sneeze at.
Sound: 10
Square really did shine with this music selection. The soft melody of the crystals of the title screen, classic. The military march of the Red Wings, the haunting tune of Calcobrena. So much music in this game, and I love it all. I think this game has my favorite battle music of all. The main bad guy Golbez, has some Imperial march meets organ music theme song. I loved Fabul caslte, lets just say I loved it all and just leave it at that with no more spoilers, OK?
Addictiveness: 9
I played this game many times through, I just really liked the story. There are hidden things to find (being an rpg) and I had no problem ever coming back to see Cecil and the gang. Some characters grew on me a second playthough. I'm not saying thats best, but I did try new things.
Story: 9
A airship captain, a black knight, in service to the Baronian kingdom. You end up going on a quest that has you protecting the weakest, and in turn find out that you are actually the weak one. The first FF had where you could 'level up' your characters to a new class - but this was the first, and probably best, where your character's transformation is explained well. Along the way you find party members, and at scripted story events they leave, sometimes never to return.
I did enjoy the villains in this game. Final Fantasy has a running theme with elements, and the four fiends are quite impressive. Some get a lot more limelight than others, but I felt they served their purpose.
The option to keep party member selection out of your hands is probably the biggest hurdle to stomach for rpg fans. The story is pretty tight, and each character departing just makes way for others. Now if you have a preference for a one thats gone, maybe they come back, but I could see players being disappointed. But I enjoyed how each worked their own way into the story.
I am not so sold on the last leg of the journey, involving a man named Fusoya. But I won't go into that. It just seemed to be grasping too far in my taste. Keep your fantasy story grounded in some reality.
Depth: 8
There are a lot of optional quests here, including rare summons, rare weapons, and even where Namingway comes from. Again, the best depth would be to let you choose your party, but that is completely out of your hands for this game.
Difficulty: 7
This is not a difficult game, per se, aside from some important bits. It does still contain some areas where grinding is probably best. The challenge of using characters you don't like is also thrust upon you, and I had those.  I enjoyed the difficult boss battles, and this game has quite a few of them.
Overall: 9.4
One of the strongest SNES games in my opinion, and one I personally love. Its not perfect, but it sets up Square as a provider of excellent melodies and gripping storylines, that would show them as leaders in RPGs.

Final Fantasy 2 (US)   Dragoon26

One to be Born, From a Dragon... those were the most legendary words of my childhood. This game cemented me into a path of gaming for all of time. And for that I am forever grateful. Now the Review!

Graphics - 16 bit sprites doing their job. From the small character animations to the fading/flashing of light(representing confusion or flashbacks). This game finds a way to convey its message. The graphics were not that bad for the its time but I also wouldn't say they were "great". My favorite part about the graphics are the in-battle character sprites. They look cool as they are but they always look better before they attack or while defending. Some also look pretty funny while they are"KO'd". The final battle looks awesome enough to bump my rating to an 8.
8/10
Sound - The best part of a great game. An absolute masterpiece in my opinion. From the opening song you know your starting an epic journey and it doesn't stop there. The music does a great job to help tell the story throughout the way. The emotion and adrenaline you feel are mirrored by the music and that is part of why graphics weren't the bottom line of gaming in the early 90's. Easy 10 for me here. I still play this game after 20 years because of the music. Listen to Battle with the Four Fiends if you want an example.
10/10
Addictiveness -  For an JRPG, addictiveness only goes as far as you think the game is good.  I have beat this game beginning to end over 100 times and still come back for more. Nostalgia can only carry so much weight. It's just a good game.
7/10
Story - Betrayal, Envy, Revenge, Atonement, Forgiveness, Sacrifice, Courage, Pride, Love.. It has everything a great story needs. On the surface it's your classic "Good vs. Evil" tale. But each character brings something to the table here to add to the story. I never felt like a character was forced on me. Cecil is your main character. He is a Dark Knight for the Kingdom of Baron, the strongest military nation  He has both his own Inner Conflict and the worlds Outer Conflict to deal with. The life of a Dark Knight...
9/10
Depth - Not a whole lot in terms of Depth here. The hardcore RPG player will make sure he/she beats the few optional bosses to acquire Weapons/Armor/Summons. Or he/she could go after some "rare-drops" like the ever elusive Pink Tail. The reality is that Square had yet to introduce the Mini-Game to the series yet. If you decide to go after some rare drops bring your lucky charm. Their is a 1/20 chance an item will even appear! After that you have a 1/64 chance of getting the rarest drop! Those combined odds bring you to having a .4% chance, good luck.
7/10
Difficulty - The US got "Final Fantasy IV - easy type" as Final Fantasy 2. If you have played other RPG's it won't be much of a threat. If you haven't it's not a terrible starting point. Easy learning curve, Attack, Spell or Item. Bosses are easier and you get a "heal" item which covers most status ailments opposed to each status affect having its own item. Makes things much easier. Even for a novice it shouldn't be to tough.
The ATB-Active Time Battle- added a new element of difficulty to the series. No longer could you sit and think out every decision as long as you wanted. Thinking on the fly was must and a bit more skill was needed for battles. The faster pace is welcomed in my book and is still being utilized to this day.
6/10
Overall - The game is a classic from the Golden Era of Gaming. I love the specific character classes, it gives your crew more personality. Tellah isn't attacking for 9,999 and Yang isn't going to learn Cure3. Each guy has his/her own strengths and weaknesses you must learn to exploit. I tend to like games like this better than the ones where every character becomes essentially equal(FF5, FF7, FF8, FFX, etc.).
The music is fantastic, the game is colorful and can be beat in as low as 4 hours by experts! So it moves along quite fast. One grinding session a third the way through the game is enough to win... Bahamut helps too...

Final Fantasy 2: Beyond the Legend   Fireproof
The Final Fantasy series is an absolutely stunning and brilliant creation for any old or new console. To me, Final Fantasy 2 is an ingenious  storyline, perfectly addicting and beyond entertaining. Who do we have to thank for this wonderful game? Square Soft. I consider Final Fantasy 2 to be on my top 2 list of all time favorite games, right next to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I mention this because Square Soft also included a Final Fantasy theme in Super Mario RPG. Without Square Soft, neither of these 2 games would have been the masterpiece that they both are.
Overall: 10
I promise that it will be difficult to find a better game than this. The overall quality of this gaming art is priceless in value. This game is intelligent, challenging, leaves you sitting at the edge of your seat, enjoyable, fun and easily worth the time spent playing. Final Fantasy 2 draws you in and doesn't let you go, it's what great games do. Unfortunately for me I was snagged by this game and I have literally played it 100s of times from my early childhood to even now as a 22 year old adult. This is a game for anyone of any age and you will still enjoy it. Final Fantasy 2 opened my mind to the RPG world. It still has a grasp on me to this day! That should be enough evidence be enough evidence of what this game is capable of.
Graphics: 8
As I reflect on the quality of the SNES through the 90s, it was one very powerful console. The quality of the graphics worked quite well for this game but I'm sure that there was a lot more potential for awesome graphics. These graphics were still great and the final boss was really cool but I know there was room for better. In some ways, the graphics actually made this game more addicting. Whether you're using summon magic or just riding around in your airship, it was still well worth the time. There is no such thing as too much or too little in terms of graphics. I wouldn't complain!
Sound: 10
Anyone who is a real Final Fantasy fan is already aware of some songs that have been repeated over these short years. Some of the most appealing game music ever orchestrated for a game begins as soon as you turn the game on. The main title screen plays Final Fantasy's Crystal Theme. It's harmonious rhythm immediately grabs your attention. This tune truly defines the crystals and what I feel defines what this game is all about. (What I call my favorite song)  The Prologue is a bang that starts a long and epic journey. What's truly remarkable is how these songs have been recycled, abused, re-mastered, re-orchestrated, replayed and present in every Final Fantasy game (in some way) but it still does not get old. How do you describe perfection? You have music that never gets old and beautifully orchestrated. 10 out of 10!
Addictiveness: 10
Let's begin with saying that the music is addictive. The music from the Final Fantasy series is like a very bad but very addicting drug that you can't ever get enough of. I've literally turned the game on (in my younger years when youtube wasn't even an idea yet) to listen to specific songs. Alone, the music makes up half of the addictiveness. The rest of the addictiveness comes from an outstanding storyline (which can be found by reading the rest of this review) and from the game play. Can you resist playing a game a second time when you played it once and beat it but you know that's it's just that good and play it again anyway? That's Final Fantasy 2
Story: 10
The story is intricate and very well designed. It makes you want to read through long texts because you want to know what's being said. The story, itself, is about the journey of a legend as he uncovers his true identity and destiny. What's amazing about this plot is the fact that you can not predict what happens next. It takes you everywhere and like a movie, gives you twists and turns. Honestly, I would have loved to see Final Fantasy movies that reflect the actual game. It would, easily, hit the box office with power. Final Fantasy is all about finding love and romance in the most unlikely of situations while battling vicious monsters, enduring constant war and going on an adventure to find the Crystals to protect the ones you love. If that isn't epic than I don't know what is! This story is perfect to say the least. Is there anything more that needs said? No!
Depth: 8
What I like about the depth of Final Fantasy is the ability to travel to the Underground and the Moon. It's cool that there's more than meets the eye even in a game like this. I also like the fact that you have several methods of transportation.. sailing, hovercraft, Chocobo, airship and even the Blue Whale. The method which Square Soft utilized the transportation was also very unique to the Final Fantasy series. I also liked how in-depth the story had progressed and how some of the characters had grown. The only real thing I could see could be improved is the use for the hovercraft, chocobo and sailing a ship. I would have loved having seen more uses for these. It would have been invaluable to game play.
Difficulty: 8
Although the game is not very challenging, I still feel as though the game was perfect difficulty right where it's at. A game that is too hard loses players from being too difficult while too easy doesn't keep players coming back. Final Fantasy keeps me coming back and it's exactly right where it should be. I also like how each boss is somewhat different than all the rest. In each boss fight, someone is always KO'd so you better play smart and you can't necessarily spam your attack option.
Conclusion:
I've played Final Fantasy 2 too many times to count. I love this game, I love the music and it's very addicting. I've enjoyed the story and I've been playing this game since my childhood. I'm 22 now and I've been playing this since I was 4. If you're into RPG style gaming or you love older games, this would be a great game to start with. If you enjoy it as much as I do, you might even find yourself playing other Final Fantasy games as well. Still one of the best games I've played in all of my gaming experience.
I also want to include the continuation of Final Fantasy 2. An expansion was released to continue the story of Final Fantasy 2 with Final Fantasy 4: The After Years. This takes place 17 years later and brings back the old cast as well as a brand new cast of playable characters. There's a new story and a new epic adventure to boot. New items, new armors and a whole new world! If you love this game, I suggest you try and play the After Years!

Final Fantasy II Review   SacredShadow
Final Fantasy II Review
Hey guys, today I will be reviewing Final Fantasy II for the NES! This game was released in 1991, and this game was re titled final fantasy II since both the FF II and FF III had not been released outside of Japan at the time (There are so many now I can't even keep track anymore) Nevertheless, this game is my absolute favorite out of the series, I am not even going to lie, this game is pretty awesome and I have wanted to review it now for quite a while now, but I have procrastinated in doing so. Now then, onto the review!
Graphics: 9
I think an 8.5 would've seemed more fitting, but I found them to be slightly better than an 8, so I ended up scoring it to a 9. I think the graphics of this game aren't half bad to be honest, they are 16 bit and they come out pretty good in my opinion. Sure, they aren't the best graphics out there, but I think the animations and the battle scenes are pretty good considering they are 16 bit. I will admit, they look pretty awesome when you are getting ready for a battle, the enemy sprites also look good too. The scenery and the landscape all look decent as well. So with what they had, I think they did a fairly good job on the graphics. I think this is best exemplified when you are getting ready for a battle, the sprites look pretty cool then. So that is why I scored it a 9, from the landscape to the character designs to each of the spells and the attacks which each have their own little animation, I think they did a fairly good job on the graphics overall especially considering this game was released in 1988. One thing I will point out, is I like how the graphics are all put onto one screen rather than in the first final fantasy where it was segmented into portions. I personally think this is a pretty big step up from its predecessor.
Sound: 10
I am just going to come out and say it, I think the sound is perhaps one of the best, if not the best part of the game altogether. From the very beginning, you know that you will embark on an epic quest. I think the music is very fitting and it really does help to add to the plot of the game as well. It intensifies in the heat of battle and it really gives you an adrenaline rush and really gets you in the mood to dive straight into an intense battle. It isn't repetitive or boring or is the kind of music that drones on and completely ruins the game and renders it uninteresting. The sound and music are unique and it changes with just about every new area you enter, so it is not only intense and awesome, but it is fresh and new with every part of the game you go into which I think is a really nice touch because It would eventually get boring to here the same game music repeatedly. I think the soundtrack of this game is simply stunning, it has a more epic and strong sound to it than the first one. In many cases, the sound of this game is complementary to the theme and plot, so in the end it all really works out quite nicely in my opinion. Because of this, I think the sound is easily worth of a 10. Again, a big step up from final fantasy I.
Addictiveness: 10
I think this game has a fairly good replay value, found it rather addicting just because of the story line, sound and basically all of the other amazing features that this awesome game has to offer. There is really a lot of depth to this game which in my case is a good thing, I like a good challenge, especially if it takes a while to beat, that is what makes a game fun and interesting to me. This game may have taken me some time to beat, but in the end, I think it is wall all worth it. If you really take the time and enjoy this game, you can really get a lot of hours of enjoyment from it. I think this is perhaps one of the best repayable games I have ever played on the NES altogether. I just find it to be that good. With that being said, I can easily see myself playing this game again and again in the near future just because of how addictive and fulfilling I find it to be. That is why I believe it deserves a 10.
Story: 9
I think the story for this game is pretty good, it is very vast and complex in many ways, the story begins with the red wings attacking the city of Mysidia to steal their water crystal and then Cecil, the captain of the red wings, questions the Kings orders, he then loses his rank and is told to deliver a package with Kain to the Village of Mist. The game's story follows Cecil who is a dark knight (no he is not batman) and he basically tries to prevent the evil sorcerer Golbez of who you will find out later on in the story line, from stealing the powerful crystals to destroy the world, and then from there, the story just keeps getting better. One thing I find interesting is that the story takes place in a variety of settings: from castles to towers, to caves and forests, in between which you can heal up by going to a town to rest and recover your HP and MP. Overall I just think this is game has a great story line and there is really a lot to it. So this is why I think it deserves a 9.
Depth: 9
I think if the game had anything at all, it certainly had some depth to it. It took me a week and a half or so to beat the game, but it was worth it. This game really leaves you with a lot to do and it shouldn't turn out to be one of those games you beat in 5 minutes. It does take time, you will run into a lot of random monster encounters, and you will end up battling a lot of enemies, so the key here is patience, you're going to end up doing a lot of fighting, so I am just going to put that out there right now. This isn't like pokemon where you can just spray a max repel and call it a day. So do be prepared for that. I find it useful in many cases because you can level grind and get stronger and prepare for other enemies better. But sometimes it is wise not to fight every encounter, especially when you can't heal anywhere nearby. So fight only when absolutely needed or when you don't have a chance to run away. Overall though, this game does offer a lot and it will take some time to beat depending on the type of gamer you are, but I can ensure that you will a ton of hours of enjoyment out of playing this game. That is why I scored it a 9.
Difficulty: 7
To be honest, this game isn't all that difficult, there really isn't that much to it. When you are battling, you either use a physical attack, use magic or spell with a status effect that requires some MP (Magic Points) or you can run which you may have to do in a lot of instances to avoid unnecessary monster encounters. Sure it might be a little frustrating at times, but then again, every good game is, and it is best to just overcome those little challenges it throws at you and just enjoy it. I think the difficulty of this game is just right, it isn't extremely challenging to a point here no one wants to play it, and it isn't super easy to the point where no one wants to come back and play it again because it isn't challenging. It is just right, to do well in this game, especially against boss battles, you are going to have to have a smart plan or strategy set out if you want to succeed because you can't spam an attack move here, for example, Kainazzo, the water boss will summon a wave of water at you, kind of think of it like pokemon for instance, he will be weak to lightning type moves, so it is best to use you magic on enemies like that. So you are going to have to plan accordingly for each enemy you face. Overall though, I think this game is just right difficulty wise, even for a novice beginner, I think it is still relatively manageable to do well without to much trouble, so that is why I scored it a 7.
Overall: 9.7
Personally, this is my favorite final fantasy game and it always will be, there are so many great elements to it that really make it awesome to play and enjoy. I highly recommend this game to those seeking adventure, or those who are Final Fantasy fans. This is the game for you! I will definitely play this great game again in the near future. Hope you enjoyed this review! If you have any comments, or suggestions that could make my review better, please feel free to reply saying so! Thanks, and have a great day!

Final Fantasy 4 reviewing   deggle
This was my first Final Fantasy game ever and I love it so much I beat it in snes, gba, ds, psx,  and the psp because it was so fun and the different features were great well let's begin shall we
Graphics 9 the graphics were considered okay but I really like seeing them like the ice wall in the mountain and having Rydia my favorite learn the fire by doing so melting the ice for her companions. and the magical graphics were nice you see the angel giving life back and the green ring of cure of those things and then the wold map which had some action parts in it when the castle get's bombed by the barons which was really cool to see.
Sound 9 the sounding was really well done for the game if i say so and the music was like music to my ears if that makes sense and well it really made me feel like there will always be a better outcome if you make it come true by believing you  can. and it was just so great to have these great masterpieces with us forever in our hearts.
Addictiveness 8 yes i would play this game over and over i have proof there are only some special things you can do in each version of the game.and i would name them but that would take a while but hey this is a review after all. okay the gba and psx both have the cave of trials where you can test your oher characters strengths by getting rare weapons and items. and then the place i always forget but its on the moon this tower and yo can fight the real final boos in the game there and learn about character's pasts and why they are who they are today.
Story 9 the story can't be rated 10 all the time and  i had some issues with it. well the story begins with a man named Cecil a dark knight who is sick of hurting other people to get the crystals and he tells this to the king who is also Cecil's adopter but refuses him and then a dragoon named Kain who is Cecil's friend and helps him try to pleade with the king but he sends them out and Cecil tells Kain how odd the king has been acting a little werid lately then he goes up to his room in the west tower and is met by his other friend the engineer Cid who just has a little chat and then later in the night cecil is having his doubts about himself just then his girlfriend Rosa the white mage who convinces him so he feels better. then tomorrow he and Kain are sent to the village of Mist through going through the cave of mist at the end of the cave they engage in battle with a mist dragon the first boss in the game. and ater the battle they enter the town and the ring that the king has ordered them to take to the village but it transforms into a flaming beast that destroys the place and then they find a surviving girl and Kain thinks they should kill her but Cecil and his kind heart tells him not and then he talk to her but she is mad that they killed her mother's dragon which killed her too and then the irl attacks you and in the fight she defeats them after the battle Cecil wakes up with the girl damaged and Kain missing then he takes her to an inn in the next town and she lightens up to him and tells him her name is Rydia who is a summoner with the power of both kinds of magic but later loses the power of white magic. and then they are attacked by baron solidiers and that's enough story time.
Depth 7 the depth of the game works for it. four evil spirits a great force of darkness and a manipulated soul. so that works really nicely for the game
Difficulty 8 the game is pretty easy in some parts but is still challenging so level up a lot. because it gets really annoying later
Overall score 9+9+8+9+7+8=50/6= 8.4

Final Fantasy 2 snes review   Beastmode64
I loved final fantasy. It was a great RPG. This game has a lot of pros and little cons to it. Well how about I start my review.
                            Graphics 8/10
The graphics are really good. Especially at there time. The scenery Has great amount of detail to it. And in battles the monsters have a lot of detail also. And I also liked the in battle backgrounds and characters. The graphics are at a high quality rate that is why it deserves a 8/10 :).

                            Sound 10/10
OMG the sound is incredible. I just love the over world theme song it is very great. And the in-battle song gives you a rush of excitement. I love the sound so much that is why it deserves a 10/10.
                           Addictiveness 10/10
THIS GAME IS VERY ADDICTIVE. I can play it for many  hours. I pulled an all nighter playing this game it is that addictive. This games addictiveness is a major perk to this game and that is why it deserves a 10/10
                           Story 9/10
The story is great. It is about a dark knight that becomes a paladin and is on an adventure to save all the crystals from Golbez. But he doesn't save all of them in time but than he learns there are 4 more crystals in the under world but he doesn't save all of them. Than he finds out Golbez is his father and has to defeat a evil demon to save the world. It is a great story that is why it gets the rate of a 9/10.
                           Depth 9/10
this game was long for me. To beat all the side quest and the main quest takes some time. But it is a fun experience. It is very time consuming to with the addictiveness of the game. But this game has a lots of depth and gets the rate of 9/10.
                           Difficulty 6/10
This game is not so difficult. It gets frustrating here and there but that's just how a good game is good. because of challenges. But this game was challenging at times but it is fun and the rating of the difficulty gets a 6/10.
                           overall 9.7/10
This game was a great game. It didn't deserve the other .3 points though just because of the graphics. But other than that the game was great and gets the rating of a 9.7.

well that is my review just post comments and what you think below. Thanks

A giant leap forward for RPG fans in the USA   bsnowotter
While Final Fantasy 4 in Japan, this is the second Final Fantasy released in the USA, and woah....  this is the sort of genre-defining masterpiece that not only changes the way people see role playing on video game consoles, but it pushes the limits of video games as a legitimate form of artistic expression.
I am not an expert on the incremental improvements implemented in the Japanese, legit FF2 and FF3, but in my opinion the difference between FF1 and this game is like night and day.  The main difference for me is the story.  In Final Fantasy 1, the story seemed almost incidental, a flimsy excuse to move from place to place and eventually save the world, with some occasional memorable bits such as unintentional hilarious awkward translations eg I Garland will knock you all down!  Granted, FF1 probably has a great plot compared to most Nintendo games that have a nonexistent plot by comparison, but compared to this sequel the plot of FF1 pales in comparison.
FF2 is packed with memorable characters, heartfelt moments, and twists and turns that often inspire shock and horror, laughter (of the intentional, comedic variety, particularly when Palom and Porom and Edge join the group), tears and joy and exhilaration.  I don't want to spoil anything, I encourage you to check out this game if you have not already, it's quite good.
Graphics = 9
The overworld map is quite good, there are a wide variety of cute little pixel people to control and to interact with, but this game shines most in the huge variety of enemies, battle scenes, summoned monsters to fight alongside the allies, and the great variety of attack animations most impressively animated magical spells.  Not only are all the magical spells animated impressively, but the spells become progressively more awe-inspiring as you acquire higher versions of the spells, i.e. Fire 2 is more impressive and deadly-looking than fire 1, and fire 3 moreso than fire 2, same with ice, etc.
Sound = 9
Sound effects in this game are numerous and top-notch, and while it is not the #1 super-nes soundtrack I can think of, it still is packed with some memorable and appropriate music.
Addictiveness = 9
The drive to strengthen the game's diverse cast of heroes is coupled with the drive to see what craziness the game throws out story-wise as you progress in the adventure.  If you play through the game speedy style, when you get to some really difficult spots if you have difficulty surviving you may feel tempted to start over and spend more time strengthening your team.  That is always impressive when the more tempting option is to start from scratch and grind rather than give it up, I can't think of any other game I would voluntarily start from scratch to get myself out of a jam.  However skillful, strategic and hopefully experienced RPG fans will probably be able to fight their way through without getting stuck in any particularly dangerous dungeon areas.
Story = 10
I don't want to spoil anything, but the story is quite good.  I feel I've commented on this a bit already...
Depth = 9
The depth is really good here, there is a strong incentive to wander around, leave no stone unturned and there are some spots in the game that seem optional but highly rewarding, and that's always great when the deepest, most challenging parts of the game are optional, when the RPG fanatic takes on these challenges entirely voluntarily, you know as a game-maker you are doing something right when you entice gamers to go that extra mile to earn their way into all the game's hidden dark corners and things.
Difficulty = 8
The game starts out gradually enough that as long as people understand basic math and aren't afraid to level up a little here and there to shore up their skills, there is nothing in this game that is impossible or too discouraging for even RPG noobs.
I am not a huge fan of RPGs generally, but Final Fantasy 2 holds a special place in my gaming heart.  Check it out and check out its sequels too!!

Final Fantasy II Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 9.7
This Final Fantasy game is the most awesomeness game ever.  There are things in this review that I am going to tell you about how great this game is.  I would play this game everyday.
Graphics - 9
The graphics are very well-made in this game.  There is no blocky structures and no glitches.  Very good graphics.
Sound - 10
The sound is perfect.  It has straight on sounds and very good sound effects that will make the players interested in.
Addictiveness - 9
Like I said, I would play this game everyday.  It is so much fun and it is magnificent.
Story - 10
The story in this game is awesome.  It can be cool and sometimes it can be bad.  It is just a mixture to make it a complete good story.
Depth - 8
The game is pretty big.  It took me about 3 to 4 days to beat it.  It what worth it, also, the game is very detailed.  It has leveling up and equip items, just like Fire Emblem.
Difficulty - 5
The game is not that hard. I really had no problem in this game.
Wrap Things Up...
And so, the game is very fun and great to play.  I highly recommend trying this game out.  It sure has some awesome people in the game and what their power is.  some of them change and some of them die (it's part of the game).  That's what makes it awesome.  Also, you can even change their names. :)  Try it out, I guarantee that you will like it if you like RPG and Strategic games. :D

Final Fantasy II (IV): A Great Leap Forward for Square   janus
One born of a dragon
Bearing darkness and light,
Shall rise to the heavens
Over the still land.
The moon's light eternal
Brings a promise to Earth
With bounty and grace.
- The Legend of Mysidia (from the PSX version of Final Fantasy IV)
You play Cecil, the Dark Knight captain of the Red Wings, the aerial force of Baron, the strongest kingdom on the planet. You are on your way back home, after raiding the magical town of Mysidia to get its crystal. In between unexpected fights, your crew wonders why Baron would attack such a peaceful town; the wizards and mages didn't even resist. AS you try to ask the King about the purpose of the raid, he disses at your insubordination and fires you! However, you still have to accomplish one last mission: deliver a package to Mist, the village of summoners, magicians who invoke fierce beasts to help them in combat.
Before leaving, you spend one last night in your room, where your girlfriend Rosa pays you a visit. She's worried about you, but you don't want to open up to her... The next day, Kain the dragoon accompanies you in your quest.
And so you head northwest to the misty cave, the only road possible towards Mist. After defeating a fierce mist dragon, you finally reach the village and deliver your package... which consists of fire bombs that destroy the village! That is, everything and everyone but a little girl, whose mother was killed when you destroyed her dragon. He becomes violent and summons Titan, who destroys the village.
When you wake up, Kain has disappeared! However, the girl is still alive but wounded. After some wandering, you reach the oasis town of Kaipo, where you bring her to a hotel so she can rest. During the night, soldiers from Baron come to capture her, but you destroy them before they can. The girl, named Rydia, thanks you for saving her life and decides to join you in your quest.
As you walk around town, you encounter Rosa, who is sick with the Desert Fever, which can only be cured with the Sand Ruby. In other words, you have to go to the Kingdom of Damcyan, far to the north through perilous caves. As you enter them, you encounter an old mage, who joins your team. He is also going towards Damcyan because his daughter fled with a SPOONY bard. He does hope to reach Damcyan *in time*. In time for what? Is it just a bad premonition? Will the team be able to rescue Rosa? And why is Baron so obsessed with the various crystals of the world?
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are quite an improvement from the NES era. Overworld details (trees, mountains) are much smoother, water is flowing and not merely flashing, and characters have better-defined features - their heads are actually distinguishable from their bodies, as the colors are different. Enemies are beautifully drawn, albeit static as usual (unless you encounter a single flying enemy; you can see it float somehow).  Also, 3D effects are quite impressive for 1992. In one cave, you can actually see the floor below, and even the town you are trying to reach.
Sound: 10/10
Even after more than 20 years, this soundtrack is still one of my favourite of all times. The battle theme is very addictive, the Dreadful Fight does sound dreadful, the final battle theme is very epic and the dungeon music has a very mysterious feel to it. Only "downside": I think the Mysidia theme does not fit the mystical theme of the town.
A side note: since I played the (real) Final Fantasy III much later than Final Fantasy IV, I didn't get to notice how Uematsu used many of the NES tracks, like the Prelude, Melody of the Lute and the Battle theme.
Addictiveness: 9/10
Since there is more memory on the Super Nintendo, there is more room for more quests, and indeed there is! Getting all those summoned monsters, all those special weapons and searching all those pots for treasure will hook you.
Story: 10/10
A classical tale of the triumph of good over evil. However, it's very-well told. There are very interesting plot twists, Cecil's transformation is very captivating and all characters have something endearing about them. However, since the game was made in 1992, don't expect in-depth details about the characters' lives.
Depth: 10/10
Even though characters are not well developed, the story is. Square staffs have been able to dig deep to put together a masterpiece and have enough sidequests to make avid RPG players satisfied. However, on the SNES version, there are far fewer options - Tellah doesn't have his "recall", Rosa doesn't have "pray", Cecil doesn't have "dark" and the twins don't have special individual abilities.
Difficulty: 8/10
That rate only applies to the PSX version, which according to many is the "true" Final Fantasy IV. On the SNES, it would be 5 at most, since monsters (including the last boss) are much easier to kill. However, you do need to be over level 45 if you want a decent shot against the final boss, which can easily be done by fighting enemies that summon other enemies. Kill the invocation, and then wait for another to appear. Repeat as desired.
In conclusion, Final Fantasy II is a must for every RPG fan out here. The graphics and music are impressive for its time, and the story is complex without being complicated with very interesting plot twists
