Nostalgia Rebound - Literally   Mimerio
Hi everyone! Mimerio here for another review! It's been quite a while I believe so let's begin from step 1. I review here relatively often if I get the chance or if a game reminds me of my childhood I will instantly look for it and review it after re-living memories.
To elaborate my reviews and to make them a bit more fun, I often use word-play or terms related to the game I am reviewing. Today is Pokemon Pinball - Ruby and Sapphire, so let's launch into it!
We start our review with the graphics! I loved these as a child and I couldn't believe a Game Boy Advance had the capabilities of making such beautiful graphics. I gave these a 9 out of 10, the only thing that could "bumper" it up a little would be to make it a little more colourful. Impossible now, but a nice suggestion no?
Score so far: 9 out of 10
Next is the sound, something I really enjoyed. Now correct me if I'm mistaken, but various pieces of music or the sound of this game has been recycled from Ruby and Sapphire. You ask me, if it's not new music why are you giving this a 10 out of 10? I'll tell you. I enjoy all the bloops and bleeps so much is because they remind me of playing Ruby and Sapphire. I can guarantee you'll "flip" with joy.
Score so far: 19 out of 20
Next comes the Addictiveness (Seriously? that word again? It doesn't exist!) Very addictive game, I could play this for literal hours as a child playing this to the point where my GBA charger would be so warm you could roast marshmallows on it!... not saying I did that as a kid. I'm not THAT stupid. But you get the basic idea, I was a very easily amused child, as I'm still an easily amused 20 year old to this day (of writing this) I used to "tilt" my head a lot as a side-effect of this game. Really.
Score so far: 29 out of 30
Next comes the story, to be frank, there isn't one. There's a "sort of" story where you go around collecting Pokemon around the Hoenn pinball tables, but there's no real story to do with gyms or battles like other Pokemon games, so I gave this a 3 out of 10 just to make give it a rating for what it deserves thus far. Must resist urge to make pinball.. related.. pun! Flip! Done it again!
Score so far: 32 out of 40
Second to last on our list comes the Depth of the game: This is where I feel the game shines in a unique way to different games. It features two methods (although they are the same) of gameplay and each one has roughly the same game play, but it requires you to play both to complete the game fully. I'll give a detailed description of which Pokemon can be found on which table later. I award this section a 7.
Score so far 39 out of 50
Finally comes the difficulty of the game. As with all games this is a very variable topic as some people may find it easy, some may find it hard and some may find it easy and hard at the same time. I'm more of the latter as this game isn't one of skill or dexterity; it's rather based on luck. Sometimes you'll be "tilting" with either confusion or rage or simply "rebounding" off the walls in joy that you captured your favourite Pokemon.
Score so far (and overall) 46 out of 60
And to close off this review it's time for the 5 words or less.
"Simply amazing sequel, I recommend"
Thanks for reading this rather long and detailed review! Hope I haven't bored you all too much! Happy Playing Vizzers!

Pokemon Pinball-Ruby and Sapphire   mlb789
Pokémon Pinball-Ruby and Sapphire is one of the Pokémon Company's different ways to put Pokémon on the market and actually have a different game play type.  Whether it be the Mystery Dungeon series or the Pokémon Ranger series, there is always a different way to play Pokémon.  This is one of those games, and like the others, you will get hooked as you play.  Pokémon Pinball-Ruby and Sapphire creatively combines the fun of playing pinball with the challenge of catching all of the Hoenn Region Pokémon.  The main objective is of course, to catch all of the Hoenn Pokémon (around 200) to complete your pokedex.  There are two main maps you can use in the game, one is Ruby, and the other is Sapphire.  The two do NOT have different routes, gym battles, and etc. But there are bonus levels provided that keep the game from getting a little boring.  The two main maps contain: A water Pokémon to start the catch sequence, an egg holder, a Pokémon Mart, a travel station, and an evolution sequence.  I should state that each map you play on has different Pokémon.  For example, if you start on the Volcano map you can get a Torchic, but on the forest map you can catch a duskull.  Each time you either catch a Pokémon or evolve a Pokémon, in the middle of the machine you get a Pokeball.  You need three Pokeballs to start the first bonus stage, Kecleon or Dusclops, and another three to get to the next stage, which corresponds to the version you are playing.  There is also a bonus Wailern mini game, and you have the opportunity to catch Jirachi and Rayquaza.
Graphics: 8  The graphics of this game are like those of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, so the graphics are not that bad, but they are not the best either.  Expect a slightly grainy game play experience, but the graphics will not get in the way of enjoying this game.
Sound: 8  Each stage in this game, whether it be the main stages, Kecleon or Dusclops stage, or the legendary stages, have different or slightly different music.  The sound quality is actually quite good, and some of the songs actually make you believe you are in the game
Addictiveness: 8 The game is not quite as addictive as the regular Pokémon series, restarting the game after you beat it does not have the same thrill as restarting a Pokémon game, but as long as you don't beat the game, you will not grow tired of it at all.  The game is almost impossible to put down, unless you get really mad at missing catching Kyogre or Groudon by just a second, or you lost all of your lives right before the boss stage.
Story: 4 The story of this game is almost non-existent, because you can't travel around meeting other people and doing slight missions, you can't beat gym leaders, and you can't BATTLE at all, which is the most fun part of the Pokémon games in my opinion.  The reason the game has a story is because you can catch all 200 Pokémon, which is technically a storyline for you to follow.
Depth: 10 The game, even though it ends at one point, provides enough play for a very long time.  The game also has certain ways to get each Pokémon, and finding them out is all the more fun.
Difficulty: 7  The game is difficult, but not too difficult as it is possible to actually beat the game.  It takes a long time to get to all of the Pokémon, so it is difficult, but it isn't an impossible game like Battletoads.
Overall: 8.8 Pokémon Pinball-Ruby and Sapphire is a very fun game I would recommend to anyone who likes Pokémon, as it has the main element of catching all of the Pokémon you can.  The game is not unlike Pokémon, but it has a certain twist unlike the other games.

Ruby and Sapphire Pinball: A Real Gem   kabenon007
This game embodies everything about both genres it contains, the pinball genre and the collecting genre. Clearly it follows the collecting genre Pokemon has become famous for, as there is a huge myriad of Pokemon available for capture. Pokemon prides itself on the "just-one-more" philosophy: just one more Pokemon, just one more gym. The pinball genre also draws on the "one more game" idea, mostly because pinball machines were made to make money by enticing the player with just one more game, just one more round, and thus more quarters for the machine. The two genres, pinball and Pokemon, combine brilliantly in this one game to make for a super addicting, oh so glad I don't pay quarters for every game experience.
Graphics: 9
The graphics maintain the Pokemon feel very well, with each sprite lively, colorful, and delightful to see. The pokeball moves fluidly around the table, not slowing down the framerate even when the pinball action reaches critical mass. I've seen lesser pinball games' framerates absolutely chug to a halt during frenetic gameplay, and I was pleased that this one did not.
Sound: 8
The sound once again immediately calls to mind Pokemon. The cries of the Pokemon are exactly like the other Pokemon games, and the pinball effects are timed perfectly, without delay between sight and sound.
Addictiveness: 10
This is where this game really shines. Everything about this game made me want to play another. One more Pokemon to catch, maybe I can beat my high score this time, one more one more one more. Not to mention the fact that the game has a Pokedex for you to fill out. So many wasted nights. But no regrets.
Story: 8
Standard Pokemon fare here. Gotta catch em all in pinball pokeballs. No great shakes, but hey, it's worked for every single Pokemon game so far, right?
Depth: 8
There is a massive amount of stuff to do in this game. Pokemon to catch, locations to travel to, legendary Pokemon to battle. Even though there are only two tables, you may travel to a couple different locations on each table, with new Pokemon to catch at each location. Also, I think I mentioned this before: Pokedex.
Difficulty: 4
I don't know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. The game is very easy, allowing me to rack up ridiculously huge scores on my first couple of playthroughs. We're talking billions of points. Billions. But that made me think to myself, that wasn't so hard, I could probably beat that score if I got a bit better at the game, played it a bit more. And here I am, many hours later... so the ease of the game made me play it more? I don't know, maybe. Regardless, it's not hard to get astronomical scores.
Overall: 9.5
This game is full of win and awesome. And Pokemon. If you play it, you can too!

Great Game, Brings me back a little!   66shadowZ
Wow, this game, this game. I remember back in the day I played the original Pokémon Pinball. You remember? You had to put a battery in the back of the game for it to rumble? Yup, that was a great game. Anyway, I see I'm trailing off topic a little. Pokémon Pinball R&S is a great, fun, interesting spin on the normal Pokémon games. You can't just do the same old thing, right? Though I find this game slightly hard to control, that doesn't keep me from playing this, somewhat classic, of a game. Now onto the ratings!
Graphics: 8- There are some nice animations in the game, which I enjoy very much. And the details on some of the legends are pretty nice. The graphics are just pretty typical for a game of this era, is all I have to say
Sound: 8-  And we are back to the least effective part of the review. Is someone seriously going to consider not playing the game because of the sound? Anyway (sorry about that) the sound is pretty nice, everything you bump into give a nice little sound effect, gives off a little dazzling effect like a regular pinball machine.
Addictive: 7-  This game will hardly get stale. Always new Pokémon to catch, two different styles of gameplay, and all sorts of features will keep you playing on until you reach the very end!
Story: 4- Come on, its a Pinball game! What do you expect? The magical fairy getting her Pinball stolen by the evil team of Witches and such? In short, this game has pretty much no story, besides the fact you have to catch 200+ Pokémon. I guess that's a story?
Depth: 10- There is so much to the game. Many levels, minigames, 200+ Pokémon to capture, and more, gives you hours on end of amazing game play. But there is an end, like almost every game. But, you can still play on, but your not really going for anything except for a high score increase, maybe?
Difficulty: 5- I find it hard to change all the controls to my taste. I cannot find out how to change the L+R triggers to my taste, either. Any time I change them, its still the same button you have to press. Because the L and R button are on opposite sides of the keyboard, I  have to physically turn my keyboard around so I press them correctly. But other then that, its not too difficult of a game. Some of the minigames of legendary catching is a little difficult, but they are easy to accomplish once you get the hang of it.
Wrapping things up: The game is a great spin from the original Pokémon Pinball, and the Gaming franchise itself. Loads of gameplay, countless things to do, and an expanded "pokedex" allow hours and hours of amazing fun for any gamer who's looking for a new way to enjoy the Pokémon franchise! I really hope that you enjoyed my review of Pokémon Pinball, R&S, and I hope that you read my other reviews! Until next time, Buh-bye!

Fun little pinball game   mjabcd1234
Well this game is one of my favorite games here. It is an overall classic and i just love it. They combine Pokémon with Pinball. What can be better? There is many amazing features to this game and  i feel they should make more of these games(Diamond, Pearl, Black, White.). So here is what i rated each category and why:
Graphics:10
Both courses are neatly designed and have a lot of fun packed in each one. The Pokémon are pretty cool too. Each thing is maxed for the Game boy. The graphics are amazing for a game boy so they get a ten.
Sound: The sound for every part of the game is good classic Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire music. The best music in Pokémon. There is nothing really to say but that's why it gets a ten.
Addictiveness:10
After you get the hang of the controls, it's insanely fun. You can catch Pokémon to fill a pinball pokedex. So you want to play until you catch them all or get to a boss level. It's really fun at least for me, so i hope's it fun for you.
Story:None
No story. Sorry!
Depth:10
Takes long to get even  3 Pokémon so collecting all 200 will be LONG!
Difficulty:3
It's not really hard after the first 3 times you fail. So it's easy for most people.
I hope you liked this review. It's a really fun game so i hope you enjoy

Pokemon Pinball - Ruby & Sapphire   tgags123
Overall (8.5)
Pokemon Pinball - Ruby & Sapphire is a fun game that is very underrated. It's just like normal pinball, but you can catch Pokemon!
Graphics (9)
The graphics are pretty good for a Game Boy Advance game. The Pokemon sprites are pretty detailed. Everything in the Ruby Board is red, and everything in the Sapphire Board is blue
Sound (9)
For some reason I love the music and sound effects in this game. It just seems to fit the game.
Addictiveness (8)
This game is pretty addictive. It's not "Shut up and leave me alone while I sit in the corner and play video game" addictive, but it keeps your attention.
Story (blank)
There is no story. It's pinball.
Depth (5)
There isn't really much to do in this game. It's pretty much the same thing over and over. The only "challenges" are to get the highest score and to catch all of the Pokemon and fill up the Pokedex.
Difficulty (5)
It's a pretty easy game. You just have to keep the ball up.
I know this is kind of a lame review, but there isn't really much to explain. It's Pinball for Pete's sake! It's a fun game and I recommend playing it.

Everybody Pinball!   EX Palen
Back in the 90s, Sonic was the first character to feature its own pinball game. Years later, Nintendo tried the same with the first Pokemon Pinball. In the 21st century, Nintendo closed the cycle with the new Pokemon Pinball and Mario Pinball Land, each featuring two of the most famous franchises of Nintendo. Although more franchises also released a pinball game of their own, like Metroid, the pinball craze has decreased a little bit, maybe sacrificed for the sake of online playing or for better and more action.
The first Pokemon Pinball offered two boards to play in, referencing the fact of releasing two games (followed by a third one) for the same generation of Pokemon. Each board had its own design, and even completely different ways of enabling the Pokemon catch or evolution and also ways to travel between locations. It also included special minigames that were available once three Pokemon were caught (evolving counted as two). In addition to get the highest possible score, there was a hidden objective known by everyone: catch all the available Pokemon, the whole Generation I. The new Pokemon Pinball inherited this traits, changing the available Pokemon to the whole Generation III. It added the Egg Mode, which will hatch a baby Pokemon from an egg, and that Pokemon will roam the whole board for a while before going away instead of standing still in the board. The minigame concept was also retained from the original game, including some available in the stage to be playable at any time instead of collecting a certain amount of Pokemon.
Graphics: The boards are highly inspired in the previous game, where Pokemon occupied the place of many pinball accessories, like some of the bumpers or the locations where you have to direct the ball. Even then, the graphics are much more accurate, and obviously, much more defined due to the capabilities of the new console. Where Nintendo nailed it was in the animations, which were much more dynamic in this new game, specially in the minigames. Graphics earns a 9.
Sound: The soundtrack isn't wide, but I think it has the correct number of songs, no more, no less. The intro, the menu, the boards, the minigames and the mode you're playing (Catch, Evo, Egg, Travel). The sound is also very good in terms of adapting to the situation: faster music for Catch Mode, relaxing music for the boards, for example. I also like how some of these sounds are also extracted from the main games Ruby and Sapphire. For example, when an egg is about to hatch, the music from the Trick House is played. Sound earns an 8.
Addictiveness: Pokemon by itself is an addictive franchise, because it offers a wide selection of Pokemon in every game. This game isn't an exception, with all of the Generation III Pokemon available to catch. Also, we have to add the pinball game, which makes it more difficult than to catch a Pokemon in the main games. The most annoying thing, in my opinion, is the location, because it's very random and you can't even choose to go back and forth (the requirements to do so are a bit complicated to achieve). The randomness of the Pokemon that you can catch in each area, determining in which area you play and the Pokemon that will hatch from the eggs make this game last very long. And don't forget you're playing pinball, so there's a highscore table for each board waiting for your name to be written on. In my opinion, addictiveness earns a much justified 10.
Story: Nothing at all. There aren't any characters whatsoever in this game, and there aren't any missions or predetermined steps you have to follow to achieve a goal. Completing the Pokedex while scoring the highest possible amount of points is your only objective.
Depth: Completing the Pokedex does take some time, doesn't matter the game. Furthermore, the added difficulty to find the exact location of the Pokemon you're still missing can be arduous. Catching the Legendary Pokemon isn't easy in any game, but specially here, due to how you must first weaken it for its capture, and how hard it is to upgrade the Pokeball to a better ball. Out of all the Pokemon games, I think that this one, besides the old Pokemon Pinball, are the longest to have ever existed. For that, depth earns a 9.
Difficulty: Learning the controls isn't hard, it's just a pinball game with two flippers to control, that's all. The difficulty comes from the fact of evolving your Pokemon, since you must explore the whole board to find where the items are located each time. Directing the ball to wherever you want to isn't easy, and much less when having to catch a roaming Pokemon hatched from an egg. The minigames aren't that much of a threat, but, as always, the Legendary Pokemon are quite troublesome to catch. Completing their minigame is already a challenge, and being able to capture them requires many times playing the minigame, and getting up to the minigame is also quite difficult, having to catch up to six Pokemon per challenge. For all this reasons, difficulty gets an 8.
Overall: A quite challenging game, either for the fact of completing the Pokedex or for getting the highest score. In my opinion, this is a game which can play the whole family, even if you're not used to Pokemon games, simply because of the pinball rules it follows. Don't expect your father or grandfather to complete the Pokedex for you, but be careful with their highscores, they are more used to pinball machines than you for sure. Nowadays, is really hard to see a game that can draw so close to three generations, mainly because of the controls of modern games having so many buttons. Nintendo realized this, and that's why the Wii and the DS were born, to make all the family play a game which had easy controls and didn't require complex combos, just swinging the controller or writing/drawing in the screen. I think that games like this Pokemon Pinball, as well as its predecessor, and other games with easy controls aside from classic games are what Nintendo took inspiration from to raise up to the top without the need of powerful graphics as their rivals.

POKEMON PINBALL Review   DittoDude44

Pokemon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire-
---START OF REVIEW---
My rating: 9.8. I rated this a 9.8 because EVERYTHING is amazing but i took .2 of the score because of the sound. It bugs me, but thats my opinion. Its okay but not okay...I give the souna a 6.3
Graphics: They were awesome.Awesome. AWESOME!!!!! Great HD game, no graphical glitches.
Addictiveness: I am new to the game itself on Vizzed, but I Have heard of the pokemon pinball series. I play it almost every day for a average time span of 1.5-3 hours.
Difficulty- It was difficult indeed, considering the pokemon ball goes kinda fast and the pikachu bumper thing makes the ball go down under the flippers and theres no way to stop it is sort oh humiliating :/...
Depth- The depth of the game is big, some games of pinball and then kyogre/groudon battle and then Rayquaza.
Story- There is no story, just pinball and exciting boss/legendary battles :).
What I liked about the game-
I liked the no-glitch routine and pokemon PINBAll instead of the regular pokemon stuff like battling and catching and trading, all of that kind of stuff.
What I didnt like about the game-
Absolutely nothing. It was all amazing.
Summary-
Very good game, no glitches as mentioned above, everything is all good. On a scale from 1-1000, I give this a 1000.
That concludes this review! I'll be back next week with a review for Pokemon pinball: red and blue.

Pokemon Pinball Review   zanthehero
Pokémon Pinball Ruby and Sapphire is a pretty
fun game it controls well (as well as pinball games can anyway)
and has good graphics for a Game Boy Advanced game.
My only real complaint however is the lack of a storyline.
I found it a little bit difficult do to it being a pinball game.
I like being able to catch Pokémon and upgrade your poke ball.
The choice of playing in ruby or sapphire mode is a great thing as it
gives more replay value to this game. Overall I would say Pokémon
Pinball Ruby and Sapphire is a must play for Pokémon fans everywhere.

Ah, such nostalgia seeing this game on here....Remembering how much I raged when I ran out of time to do a second EVO, or Rayquaza floated in the air when I tried to aim for it....Or the ball would friggin go in a different direction around the perimeter..

At first I thought this was a hack because I have never seen this game before and I had no idea they had a pinball game lol

How do i freaking work the other freaking flipper!?!?!?
sonikku 04-18-13 - 12:21 PM
Retrogamer275: Because you went over the maximum allowable score that you can input in the RGR, apparently. At this rate, David'll need to update that to take in a higher value.
Retrogamer275 04-10-13 - 07:18 PM
for some reason it wont let me update my new score... it just changes the picture and comment....
smbisme 02-23-13 - 03:07 AM
Change the configuration to make it easier for you to use the flippers... also I beleive this chat is the in game chat no need to use ALL CAPITALS to tell people something.
Ryo_Miyaichi 02-18-13 - 09:51 AM
 Don't worry, i get it now :P
Ryo_Miyaichi 02-18-13 - 09:23 AM
on the high scores do people just cheat and use save states? is there any way to tell if someone has used them or not?
