PriotizedPatron_16x16.pngtgags123 : Xavier is a cool name, or something else with an X or Z

Barathemos : I build Legos, but only once a year, and that is around Christmas. Normally I don't go and buy a $50 Lego set because I have $50, I just get it as a gift for Christmas.

Also, I wanted to get 200 posts, but the amount I got was good enough, I was able to get on fire. But it was a success for the site.

Minuano : I am the only kid in my class that knows what RAM does, GPU's do, and even CPU's, most of the kids only know if a pc is fast or slow. I even knew more than my teacher did

Also, if I had to rank my top 10 favorite games, 6th place would be Pokemon GO, it used to be my top 3 though.

I mean yeah, I am not losing anything. I unless I lose the ability to do something else.

Would you press the button if you got infinite range for Bluetooth, but you lose 1 hour of battery?

Lots of board games out there put us in the position of empire rulers which must expand their territory. However, this one has an interesting twist: we’re actually bunny emperors seeking to conquer the new world and have the most prosperous empire by collecting golden carrots throughout four rounds with a battle for the control of the land, the fields, the mountains, the seas and even the riches and politics. With the overly seen mechanic of drafting cards, this game surely adds a few fun twists along the way while giving the laidback look of your bunnies expanding through the board.

While this game can look kind of dense due to all its components, you have nothing to fear. The game is quite simple, and with playing being simultaneous means newbies will have an easier time getting to grips with the game by the time the final round comes. The box features the board itself, the bunnies we’ll use for scoring and playing, an awful ton of cards we’ll see more in detail below and another awful ton of figurines for the many cards that require them. Don’t worry, once you learn what the cards are and their effects everything else is just aesthetic procedures, so let’s get to business.

Distribute each player the bunnies of a specific color. Then, prepare the board and place the cities as the map designates. Take all the figurines out just in case you might need them along the way, to simplify the whole gameplay and speed it up a bit. Finally, each player places one of their rabbits in the scoring table besides the board, each player is dealt their starting hand (12 cards in a 3 player game, 10 in a four player game) and the game can start.

Here you have an image of the board. As you can see, it follows a similar trend to chess or fleet battle, in which columns have numerical numbers between 1 and 10 whereas files are named A to J. You can see tiles have very different designs, but you must focus in the ones like C1 and I1 because in those are the ones where you must place a strength 1 city (the ones with just a single tower) to properly prepare the game. The scoreboard to the right is where we’ll keep track of the points, which we’ll see later on how they’re racked up.

Here you have a picture of the most common cards, the so-called territories. To better help you locate them or if they have any particular design, the cards are designed accordingly. If you locate the cards in the board above, much like playing Fleet Battle, you’ll see we have from left to right and top to bottom: an open field, a mountain, a city, a sea, a farmland and a woodland. These are all six possible locations, with the first two being neutral and the latter three giving a resource (fish, carrots and wood, respectively). The rest are special cards we’ll see at a later point.

Once the starting hand is dealt, each player picks two cards from their hand which will be played this turn, placing them face down right before them. When every player has done this, each player passes their remaining hand to their left, and the drafting continues until the last two cards are passed and immediately played. With this comes the end of the round, then we have the in-between rounds mechanics and a new hand is dealt to all players. In the even rounds, the hand is passed to the right whereas in the odd ones it is passed to the left. After the fourth round, the in-between rounds mechanics are dealt with one last time before the final results are counted in.

To know in full what the in-between rounds mechanics are as well as the final count, let’s delve into the special cards we mentioned earlier. Below you have all the special cards you can receive, and even though they seem to be a lot they’re quite easy to explain.

The first row are the basic resources cards, which add its resource to the territory where you place it (for example, in the neutral open field of G10 we’ve seen before). The rightmost one is a trading post, which each turn will give whatever basic resource you choose. The second row are the luxury resources, which are additional resources you can grant to specific territories: spices must be played on farmlands, minerals must be played in mountains, pearls must be played in the sea and mushrooms must be played on woodlands.

The third row are the city cards, which can be of strength 1, 2 or 3. The latter ones, as you can see, can only be played in mountains, whereas the other two can be played anywhere. The fourth row are the three most special cards: on the left is the sky tower (we’ll explain this one later on), in the middle is the Camp (in-between rounds can be used to place a bunny temporarily in an unclaimed territory, but it can be claimed back by any player if the territory’s card is played in a later round) and in the right we have the Provisions, which let you draw two new cards from the deck and play them immediately (the only special card which is played alongside territories, all other special cards are kept face-up before you until in-between rounds).

Last, but not least, come the Parchment cards. These are kept face-down and won’t be revealed and applied until the end of the game. There are two types of Parchments, the first are the missions which grant you points depending on a wide variety of factors (controlling X cities, producing X resource a set number of times or even copy a mission parchment from a neighbor), the second are the treasures, identified by the royal symbol above them (rightmost card on the fifth row) which give out a specific number of points.

So, back to game progress. When everyone reveals their picked cards, territories are played immediately and a bunny of your color is placed on its tile. Special cards are kept face-up except for the Provisions which is played immediately (if you want, you can pick its associated token and put it above the card to save some time) and Parchments are kept face-down. When you deploy your bunnies on the board and they are connected horizontally or vertically it forms a Fief, its strength depends on the cities and resources it has. For example, go up to the board and locate the fief comprised of the tiles A3, B3 and B4, this fief would have a strength 1 city and two different resources. In-between rounds, you collect points for your fiefs, simply multiply the strength of its cities for the number of different resources it produces (keep in mind it’s different resources, having three connected woodlands under our control still counts as one, like Gimli would say xD).

Fiefs are the reason why in-between rounds are so important. You can give fiefs additional resources or extra cities so the point payout is bigger, but there’s much more to that. You’re missing a specific tile to create a fief? Place a Camp on it, claim the score for this round and pray the card of its tile is never dealt or that it’s dealt to you. There are also Sky Towers which serve to connect territories under your control, for example you could place the Sky Tower in A3 and C7 to increase the value of the aforementioned fief. You don’t have to play all special cards, you might save them for a later time if you so wish. In the specific case of Camps, they have a number next to them from 1 to 6, which implies the priority when dedicing if placing them, with 1 having the highest priority.

PAY ATTENTION! The mountain tiles hold a special secret, as you can see between B1 and B2. These lava flows mean that those two territories cannot be connected, so in order to make a fief with both you’ll have to divert via A1 and A2 or C1 and C2. This is an important note, because as you can see mountains can be heavily productive in a fief so wrongly believing you have them in the same fief can have devastating results.

One more note to make is that anything placed on the board except Camps is permanent, meaning that your bunnies cannot be moved anywhere nor can the cities, resources or sky towers you play. This is another reason why you’re not forced to play all special cards in a round and save them for later, or you can regret placing them in tiles which may now be redundant. Also, any tile can only have one construction, that is, a tile with a city can’t hold extra resources or sky towers, a tile with extra resources can’t hold sky towers or cities, and tiles with sky towers can’t hold cities or extra resources. Thus, unless you’re very sure you want to construct something, it’s better off to wait and see if you might need that tile or construction for later on.

Once all players have chosen which of their special to play, points are scored for the current strength of your fiefs (don’t worry, it’s pretty common to not score at all at this point). Round two then starts, with the draft now going to the right, and the process repeats itself until we reach the in-between rounds of round four. Through this process, your fiefs will keep giving you points and they can get stronger the more cards you play. Then, after the in-between rounds of round four, the Parchments are revealed and their points added to a player’s score. After this last count, whomever has collected the most points is declared the winner.

As you can see, the game has tons of mechanics but in the end it is quite simple. While you’re very dependant on getting the cards you need and praying that nobody plays them before they reach you, it still offers a wide array of possible strategies that may change with each hand dealt. And even if your fiefs are not very strong, you can still make a comeback with the Parchments, son’t make the mistake of underestimating them. Also, if a player has a powerful fief, then it means they haven’t collected many Parchments so there’s your chance to equal and pass them.

It’s not even been 10 years since this game first saw the light of day, but it has already received expansions. Besides more cards and missions, the expansion In the Sky adds a secondary board for even bigger fiefs as well as new cards and mechanics, and there’s also the Bunny Express which allows to build a railway and affects gameplay in more than one way. The base game is good as it is, but if you want an additional challenge the sky is a nice touch.

While it’s not the easiest game out there, it is a game you can get to grips in the first half of your first match. With so many cards in play and the different rotation, every game will be entirely different and you’ll have to work your way to build your empire. Definitely not a game you’ll be tired of anytime soon, even without the expansions.

Just noticed I could actually finish in second place in Blue and Red as well, due to my constant scoring. The catch is that right behind me in Blue is tgags and he's a bigger poster than me, so most likely I'll stay in third place there. There's also quite the battle in Red but I think I have the upper hand in that one.

I'm in 6th place in Green but tied in points to David, so if I manage to score enough these last days I could make it to the top three of all jerseys. I only achieved that during 2018 when I battled for Rainbow, so this would definitely be a blast from the past for me.

Now I regret not having been more active at certain points of the competition. Screw work and social life, why do you keep ruining my precious time in The Land of V...

Earlier tonight I was watching a live stream of a racing league on iRacing that I normally won, but I couldn't make it to tonight, unfortunately. The racing was actually pretty good, and a lot of the drivers that I normally race with got caught up in crashes, so I could have had a pretty good race, if I made it on time.

I really like the production value the guys running the stream put on, so I always enjoy watching it while I race (or more so listening lol, gotta focus on the road).

I stayed up a bit later than I think I should have last night. I went to bed around 12:30-1, but I had trouble sleeping and probably didn't actually get to sleep until around 3.

I need to be getting to bed pretty soon tonight, since I have to work in the morning and I have quite a bit to do. But I am a bit busy playing TFT right now so I don't think I will be making my early bedtime...
