I have a question. I had seen a tab near the top of the page labeled "Member List" so I clicked on it. No big deal. Then I had noticed they had categorized all the members. 2 of the categories were "Perma Banned" and "Banned"  I started to scroll through some lists. I saw all kinds of things. Tons of people. "Fireproof", "Jakob98", "Avreetheboss" ( <- this one was really creepy. Had a sonic.exe picture which admittedly looked cool. But he lives in the same town as me, and he has the same post layout picture. I Legit got creeped out.) Anyways my question is. How do people get Perma Banned and Banned? Also can you ever get Un-Perma Banned? Did these people get Perma Banned and Banned because they were pervs and stalkers? Or did they just do something really bad? 

Well, uh... to be fair, if you're worried about pervs and stalkers, you probably don't want to admit that you live in the same town as the people you're cautious of. That's just a little teentsy-weentsy counterproductive...

There are all kinds of reasons for a member being banned but it's not really good practice to publicly go into the details with specific cases. Most of the time, it's something like Viz abuse, plagiarism, flame, spam and even a few instances of members posting content unsuitable for an all ages environment. Perma-banned users can and sometimes do make a return if they let us know they want to, there's enough evidence that they've improved in the time they've been gone and a vote passes among the mods. Though, if they are allowed back, they're on a very short leash and under close watch on the site to make sure they don't start causing problems as soon as they come back. Although it depends on how long your record already was and how much trouble you caused, you can most of the time make an appeal six months after your perma was handed down.

It's also worth noting that permabans are IP bans, so any other accounts made with that IP will also be banned.

Ah well that cleared things up. When it comes to Ban and Perma Ban What's the major difference? Do they both have the same punishments or are they different?

A so-called perma-ban would be better described as an indefinite ban. Bans have set periods of one day, three days, seven days and the next one up is a perma. Unless it's something that we see as something that should get an immediate perma, like a previously banned user re-registering to bypass it or posting material from the "adult entertainment" genre, we'll start with a lesser temporary ban, along with a warning and/or a strike. If you get three strikes and somehow managed to avoid a perma in the process, you'll be perma'd. It's not something that's followed over zealously and each case is handled on its own. We try to give everyone a fair chance. That said, as evidence of how long that banned and perma'd list is, some people just can't help but wear out their welcome.

@yoshirulez! Unfortunately that also means if someone was on a dynamic IP (which is nearly always the case), if someone was reallocated an IP address they will be able to access and register again... Not that someone who would be permanently banned would be hard to spot and ban again anyway.

As far as I'm aware, Banned means that the specific account is banned and that's it. Perma-Banned means that it's an IP ban and you are unable to access the site with that IP. Though to be honest both of those really aren't very threatening anymore, I've had a friend get banned 3 times here and he is still here even though he left. Though yeah, there are some people there who I hope I never see in other forums unless they clean up they're act.

Bans are temporary. They can be anywhere from 1 to 7 days.
Permabans are indefinite and come with the IP ban component.

I know a guy that's been perma'd a whole lot of time but he's still chillin and stuff, he's such a savage, so i guess ban and perma is not really a huge thing i guess, and to the guy, you know who you are and u know i love u

Verukuda: Permad doesn't always make people cry or whatever emotion they have. Mods really don't care how they react. Whoever that chilled guy is won't be the mod's problem then lol
