I've noticed that Vizzed is not as active as it once was, and I've seen that this has been going on for a while. One of the biggest reasons according to most is the lack of newbies on the board. So is anyone willing to try and recruit some more newbies from other places? Not necessarily other forums because I don't know how people look at that, but just an attempt to get some mor epeople onto the board. If this type of post isn't allowed then I'd see why please remove if it breaches rules or is in the wrong forum.

I have tried, either they are not interested or with one they said the site didn't look trustworthy even though it couldn't be more than trustworthy. I'll keep trying, I do like this site a lot.

Damn. I guess some people don't trust sites with emulators on or something stupid like that. Nevertheless, perseverance may be rewarded, gotta hope that we get a least a few people here...make it lively again

In the past, I talked about vizzed with real life friends of mine and they weren't interested. One of them was interested though, then registered, and became semi-active (not fully active due to work) and even piggybacked off my username

A lot of people just want to stick with social media and aren't into the idea of forums, but I've flipped that for my life. I'm on here a lot and not on social media much. There really isn't much benefit for me on it anymore, and it just disappoints me. This site, however, is very exciting and I have less expectations for it. Also, there's much more to do including retro games and hacks!

Yeah, the social media idea is probably the most sensible one. People probably wish to remain with people they already know rather than get acquainted with others online, plus there's often paranoia over strangers online being malicious hackers or scammers and stuff. Prejudiced views, shared by many in my real life friends group, I don't know if this is seen as often elsewhere.

I've wanted to for a long time, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Most Discord servers don't like advertisements, I'm not on any other social media and most of the places I have access to are places with the kind of people we usually wind up banning lol. I'm definitely in if someone wants to organize a community effort, though.

Precisely what I mean with the whole 'advertising on other forums' thing. I'm thinking that Habbo Hotel could be a good place to advertise (provided some mature users can actually be found there which I haven't had luck with yet) so I'm wondering how useful that'd be.

If somebody wants to host a competition, I'll put up a few hundred thousand Viz for prizes for the top recruiters.

thing1 : I think competitions are one of the best motivations for new members to stay active! And they don't have to be about video games, either.

What I think would be cool is if a forum had a competition exclusive to that forum. Or if there were more of the unique forum games that I've seen in forums such as Innocent Town, users would see the effort we're putting into making them feel welcome and making them have fun.

Agreed with Pacman, I feel that many more members would remain active when presented with something to compete with other board members over. Like the Tour de Vizzed, I don't know if that still boosts activity or not but back in the day I remember it being a catalyst for posting. Similar, smaller competitions for separate forums like Pacman said would appeal to those who wish to remain in the more niche forums too.

Yeah, when I first competed in the TdV in 2013, it made posting activity soar and it's even what got me to be active on the forums regularly! Sometimes the activity would dip down in the months following, but now it's low whether the TdV is going on or not. Once someone wins the TdV, they likely won't compete again, or maybe even be very active again. That isn't the case with me though XD

There are so many rules with it now that it's quite a commitment to compete and it's hard not to be DQ'd. More loose competitions are what we could use.

I'm currently executing a plan that I've come up with to increase the number of new members, but it's taking a little longer than I thought it would. I was gonna make a thread in the trusted forum asking for help, but if a few people from this thread want to help I think that might be enough. My idea was a way to expose vizzed to more people on other sites. PM me or respond if you want to know how exactly or how to help.

I've personally referred almost 3,000 unique users/guests to the site. The issue with Vizzed is that the longer time goes on, the more people learn about emulators/roms or discover other sites that do the same thing that are easier to use, or don't require downloading anything.

Most of the time, this site introduces people to emulation. Then, depending on issues with the RGR/compatibility with their system and their ability to understand how a PC works determines how long they stay. Or they learn that they can load these emulators on their PC/Raspberry Pi with better functionality and more features, and they stop coming around.

Main issue is that many of these people don't post in the forums. Those of us that did for a long time, are no longer as active as we once were, or they left the site altogether.

Forums just aren't as popular as they used to be 10 years ago. Not to mention that the forums on Vizzed don't really have anything of substance usually to drive people to want to post. I believe one of the best ways to drive more traffic on the forums is to actually talk more about GAMING and less about whom people are dating and what they had for dinner.

Referring people is great but the main growing issue that Vizzed has had over the years is retaining these users. Most users either just use the RGR and never post, or they only stick around for a short while.

Ah I see, maybe there's another solution to do with integrating RGRers more into the boards, though it'd probably be very difficult I'm guessing-if they come just for the games they aren't likely to post I see.
