Is the Xbox 360 overated? Is the Wii UNDERATED?

Xbox, overated?
I think it's overated. 90% of the games on it can be played on the PS3, PC, or both. And it's the most faulty console out there, with there being more people getting RROD every single day. And everybody says that blood and gore makes a game, along with graphics. Which is completely wrong. The best games ever don't have good graphics. They have nice graphics, but not good graphics. Wii, underated? Yes. Yes yes yes YES. It IS. Always has been, always will be. The thing is, the same kids I mentioned above abuse the Wii for being 'kiddy'. Fact: The Wii isn't kiddy. A console cannot be kiddy unless ment for kids. A lot of the GAMES are kiddy, but the Wii itself isn't. There are plenty of games that aren't kiddy. Like MadWorld, Red Steel and it's sequel, No More Heroes and it's sequel, and a few Resident Evil games. It's said to be a recolored gamecube. People, it's not a recolored gamecube, and while it isn't as powerful as the PS3 or 360, it's still more powerful then the gamecube. I doubt that Mario Kart Wii could be pulled off on the gamecube. It's also said to lack 3rd party support. THIS IS INSANE! It has AMAZING 3rd party support, albeit full of crappy games, it still has the most 3rd party support out of all the consoles. Yes, the 360 is over rated. As you said, a large percentage of the games can be played on other platforms, the controller is stupid and RRoD is a constant fear.
The 360 will never get to "retro" status because by the time this gen is considered retro there wont be a working 360 left in the world

Xbox360 I care not to have becasue they make it sound so good when you can get a computer game with the same games and do much much more. An what DH said is right the Wii was made for families not real gaming ,but lets not forget it is used for the excersie challenged.

You're right about the 360 being overrated, but the Wii underrated? You're talking about the highest selling console being overrated...
While there are games like MadWorld and No More Heroes, that's basically it. When was the last time you saw Nintendo actually make an M game? I think you're wrong with 3rd party support. Apart from Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, EA which you can really take off the list seeing as they make shovelware on the console it's mostly awful shovelware games. And Nintendo just abandoned their fanbase just to make exercising games. While there are games like MadWorld and No More Heroes, that's basically it. 360 is, to an extent, overrated. I mainly say this because of the fanboys going "360 IZ TEH BST CONSLE EVAR!!! IT HAS HALO!!!!!1111!!". Though the system itself (aside from RRoD) is very nice, interface is amazing, and the controller is the best I've ever used (exception of hack & slash games, PS DualShock is better for that).
Wii? Underrated? Hell no. It's overrated. The games are, for the most part, gimmicky. You do have the occasional amazing game, like the Mario games(naturally), Zelda(it's hard to screw up a Zelda game), No More Heroes(hilarious, fun, attractive, good story, awesome), Smash Brothers Brawl(same as Zelda). Besides that, the games are generally crap. It's not a system for us hardcore gamers, or, as some people say, real gamers. That's why we have PSP, PS2, PS3, and 360.

I definitely agree that 360s are overated.
There's nothing they can do (going off specs) that a PS3 can't do, but there is a lot of things they can't do that PS3's can do. Halo. Yeah it's an alright game but not worth getting a whole system for. And about the Wii being underrated. I wouldn't say it's underrated. I just think people don't understand what it is supposed to do. It isn't supposed to be a hardcore gaming console. It is for families and groups to have fun and for some to get fit. That's what it was made for and it does that extremely well IMO.

If you're going to say the Xbox 360 is overrated, you might as well say the Playstation 3 is overrated as well. I don't see what would make it considered overrated, if anything the PS3 has far more fanboys and gets way more attention, 360 gets far more criticism by PS3 fanboys. So no, it's not overrated.

I'm a Nintendo fangirl but I do think the Wii is a bit overrated. Still, Nintendo has a big thing going for it that XBOX/360 lacks & that is RPGs. That would be one of the reasons I wouldn't get an XBOX/360(which is definitely overrated) is its lack of RPGs. The other reason I wouldn't get one is my fear of encountering the RRoD....

Of course the 360 is overrated. Not like really, really overrated, but overrated to a degree. Let's see, good exclusive games: Halo and Mass Effect. Wow, uh, little underwhelming, don't you think? As for Wii... I think it's underrated in the sense that it is just misunderstood. People are rating it as if it were designed to be a hardcore gaming system. It's not. The purpose of the Wii is fun family entertainment, and access to some fun classic games. Seriously guys, MadWorld, No More Heroes, and Brawl are meant to be the exception, meant to be one of the few games hardcore gamers will pick up and enjoy.

I don't think either is over or under-rated.... it's just about what you're looking for in a gaming system.
I would never buy a 360 or a PS3 right now. I would much rather have a wii. I'm all about the group games and the "fun/family" stuff. I'd rather get up and swing my arms around like an idiot than sit motionless for hours on end. Plus I just don't care about "hardcore" gaming. But that's just me. I'd have to say that the Xbox 360 is overated, but the Wii certainly isn't underated. There are ony a few games that you really need the Wii to 'feel the action' (Like Wii fit), but apart from that, the Wii is not as good as it claims to be. -------------------- |

I think all systems are overrated PS3 I would say is most underrated of the bunch (Wii & Xbox) but thats just from my view.

DarkHyren: To be honest, PS3 fans are usually the most closed minded form of gamer. I'm a 360 fan and I can admit that the PS3 is a great system with great games but you will NEVER hear a PS3 fan admit that the 360 is a great system and has great games, they're usually just far to closed minded and sometimes even arrogant.

I'm not a huge fan of any of the current systems but I would prefer a PS3 over any of them.
So I guess that makes me a PS3 fan. So I'll address that comment. You're half right. The 360 has some good games (though nearly none of the really good ones are exclusive to the 360) but the system itself sucks. But if we're generalizing, if most PS3 fans are arrogant, then most 360 fans are 12 year olds, casuals or jocks. And none of them have any taste in games So I guess that makes me a PS3 fan.
