Scientology is a topic of another nature entirely. On one hand, some might think it's a brilliant concept that can have benefits. On the other hand, there are those who think it's so stupid it couldn't possibly suceed. It's a divisive subject which is bound to get lots of negativity. What do you think of it?

Since freedom of religion plays a part in the American way and we scream about freedom all the time, people can believe whatever they want as long as it doesn't impact my way of life. Once they start getting negative treatment they don't want from the Church, like some of the stories I hear, then it becomes wrong. Then there's a certain level of disdain I have, when people are blackmailed, attacked, silenced, and whatever else regarding the activities of the Church leadership.

Think about this: Christianity says there was a guy who walked around on a continent a few thousand miles away from the United States, a few thousand years ago, performed miracles, and said, "Okay, guys, we'll be back one day," and nothing since has happened. Oh, and even though his Father can do anything, his father, who loves us, lets little kids be burned to death in house fires, lets natural disasters wipe out populations, and encouraged his followers of olden days to slaughter human beings (whom He created) because they didn't know about or honor/obey the religion. Scientology sure seems like something I can't get behind but how many people are killed in wars by the larger religions?

Believe what you want. Don't bring it to my doorstep.

Well here in America as long as you are not harming anything or anyone you can believe what you want even if it is crazy.

Scientologist are mostly associated with Hollywood as several stars practice it some of them have some very strange believes. Principle Scientology doctrine is knowledge is power and that you can rise above knowledge. You can become your own being after death, to become a Scientologist you have to go through classes and then rigorous training. After being accepted you start at level 1 of knowledge and then you have 7 other levels of knowledge a total of 8 levels of knowledge overall. Also in some branches a person may be tested by a teacher who introduces psychological problems. Sometimes even making one relive past trauma. The teacher records all the info and unlike other religions the info is kept and stored.

Scientology also uses purification methods on its followers. This is detoxing the human body. This has caused some followers to get real sick and even die. They believe that toxins inhabit a person from seeking knowledge to the next level. The only way to do get to the next level is detox the body by taking several vitamins and drugs at once. Some have even gone as far to drink bleach.

Several people who have left the religion have reported being harassed and threatened by the religions teachers and leaders. Also some members have tried to get laws passed to censor critics of the religion. There have also been high reported abuse in this religion as well.

So yeah it seems like it is a creepy religion with very bad and strange ideas

It is a very creepy, abusive, manipulative cult that hasn't been shut down because of all their money and fame. The more I read about people who left the "church", the more horrified I become. The "purification" and "auditing" techniques they claim can cure all mental problems are some of the worst treatments of human beings that I've heard of. And there's plenty of proof that all that terrible stuff is real, I don't doubt it for a second.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

I was gonna say it creeped me out a little but that I was fine with it because it wasn't really harming anything and that I can't really judge it for being so weird because I believe in a guy that lived 2,000 years ago being the physical manifestation of the creator of the universe, performing supernatural things to cure illnesses and then raising from the dead to fly up into heaven and eternity.

But after some of the replies here, I think I need to do some more independent research before I put my stamp of approval on it...
