We all know about Hitler's atrocities, right guys? Today, I've arrived to ask not if he was evil or not (That one's pretty obvious), I'm here to ask if you believe he did anything positive at all? Were any political leaders worse than he was (Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong) ?  Share your thoughts, please. Thank you.

As someone who grew up in Germany, I have seen many positive things that have been done because of Hitler. The Autobahn was an idea that supposedly came from his Administration. The Volkswagen or the VW was also an idea from him. Both are highly impressive feats. The American Highway system takes its inspiration from the Autobahn, and that proves at least partial international influence. Fanta was also developed during his reign.... I'm not a fan of Hitler, but he wasn't the worst leader, he did many things to improve Germany, not to mention pulling them out of the depression before most of the world recovered.

As far as worse leaders, Stalin was much worse. He killed MANY people for no reason. No racist ideologies, no agenda, just cold-blooded murder. He killed thousands just making a tunnel under Moscow, as an escape route. And, not political refugees, just people he had picked up. He starved Ukraine, his breadbasket. (You know, the people that made food for almost the entire USSR... that makes sense how?) He brought many countries into worse situations, he killed his opponents etc... the list just goes on and on.

We really don't know how bad Mao Zedong is... China hasn't released any documents regarding statistics, but we do know that he was a terrible person, not to mention the length of time he had to do his terrible deeds. He had more time for his terror, making him objectively worse. (At least in volume.)

Hitler will forever be remembered as a megalomaniac and a warmonger. Now I agree, that in the beginning he was trying to help his people. Germany after WWI was a bleak place. You needed a wheelbarrow full of German Marks for a loaf of bread, due to inflation. Germany was suffering under heavy war reparations. Where he went wrong was trying to take over the world. I admit,a lot of inventions that we take for granted came from the necessity of war.

Hitler supposedly also pioneered the use of "love dolls" for his troops for troop morale. He was also a painter, albeit a rather unskilled one. Some say that if he got into the art school he applied for, maybe he would not be the way he turned out later. And his hatred of Jews supposedly came from the first girl he liked, but the feeling was not mutual. There are a lot of what ifs with him. Darth Yoda listed some good examples of what Hitler either did right or had to make due to bans.

Stalin was a monster. While he helped to modernize the USSR,he also regularly practiced purges. He played a pretty important role in the formation of Communism, but his view differed from Lenin's. Anyone that disagreed with him was either executed or sent to the Gulag. He wanted a self sufficient state, isolated from the rest of the world. Millions upon millions died of his purges.

A lot of what can be said for Stalin, can be said of Mao.

Fidel Castro was fairly evil if not outdated and deluded. When the USSR dissolved in 1990,he still held onto the Communist ideals. He was an example of someone who held onto a belief way too long when it was obvious it would not work.

A lot of leaders were far worse than Hitler. An example would be Vlad the Impaler. Yes,the person that was the basis of Dracula. He was a psychotic bastard. He would have his enemies impaled onto giant wooden poles and he would regularly eat his meals in fields full of dead people.

Hitler was a bit like Megatron in a way. I know,it seems silly to compare a real life person to a cartoon character. Both wanted to help their people, but ended up losing their way.

Oldschool777 : Problem is, Hitler never lost his way... He had a plan from the beginning... his motives were quite clear to those smart enough to see through his facade. He was smart, but he wanted the German Empire back. He was a soldier on the front lines during the First World War, and he believed that he was taking back what was rightfully German. (Some of which was actually justified, as France took spoils from Germany with the Treaty they forced Germany to sign.) Hitler, from the moment he started into politics had an end goal, and that was taking whatever he could. Despite any positives that came from it, it was all due to his plan.

Also, although demented, we have found some interesting science from the experiments the Germans conducted. But, much of it was false... I think we all know that they were researching with a LOT of bias, and therefore, much if not all of their research could/was fudged.

Also, due to Germany, we have Jets, Rockets, and much more. The German war machine made many products, as Oldschool pointed out. It's crazy what war does with science when they get desperate.

If I'm not mistaken, many, many weapon designs were stolen from the Nazis. Examples would be the influence the STG44 had on the AK-47's development, our own M-60's and M249's being based on their MG-42, they pretty much invented the jet engine, stolen V2 tech helped us get to the moon...

It was really nice of them to invent stuff for us to steal. lol

Did you know that the largest fully enclosed fighting vehicle ever made was build by the Nazis and was a hybrid? The Panzerkampfwagon XIII, nicknamed "Maus", weighed so much (188 tons) that they had trouble fitting a big enough engine to move it inside. They used internal combustion generators to power electric tracks.
