To conserve means to protect something, examples:

KKK wanted to protect white supremacy and white nationalism
Hitler wanted to protect the Aryan race and create a master race
Trump wants to protect the borders from radical islamic terrorists

I'd call him a conservative for sure.

I don't care what he is, I don't care about anyone's political party. What they think and what they want lies in the opinions themselves, not the party they claim to be in. The decisions they make dictate what I think of them, not their political party.

I don't think Trump is a conservative. I really don't know what Trump is as he is very unpredictable. Also Trump until now is not a career politician.

I guess I would be considered conservative as I'm for gun ownership, gun owner rights, anti abortion unless its due to certain circumstances. I am also pro Israel and family values. However, I also have Libertarian in me too. I believe govt should not be in our lives, I don't think govt should be spying on us via the patriot act and etc. I also don't think we should be interfering in other countries and being the world police.  I'm more of a Reagan and Ron Paul type person. To me that is what conservatism is.  

Trump doesn't really fit that mode. So as of now I stand by believe that Trump is not a conservative, or anything. He at times seems to be a radical with extremists ideas. Maybe time will tell.
