I'm sure this has happened to some of you: you are walking down the street, or maybe down the aisle in the store, and you see/hear someone who appears to be talking to you. You respond to that person, but then they give you a dirty look! You are confused, until they turn, and, lo and behold, there is a Bluetooth in their ear!

Personally, I really dislike when people are walking around in a crowded area and they are just yammering away, seemingly to no one. I think it's great in certain situations, such as when driving, when you want both hands free, but it's very rude when there are other people around, ESPECIALLY when you are attempting to interact with someone else. I was in a restaurant on one occasion, and the man at the table next to mine was on a Bluetooth device for the better part of an hour, even when he was ordering. He punctuated his order with responses to the person on the other line, and this just seemed to me to be beyond rude.

What do you think about Bluetooth? Is public use good or bad? Do the pros outweigh the cons?

Have at it.

It's never bothered me. I don't repsond to people in a crowded place unless I get a tap on the shoulder or some other indication somebody wanting my attention. Nowdays that's probably the better thing to do. The whole talking-aloud-in-public thing has been going on since cellphones were introduced. Bluetooth is only different being hands free, making it seem a little more like someone is talking to you. But they've been babbling before they get to where you are then it's easy to distinguish whether that person is talking to you.

You are absolutly right.
I can't remember how many times I thought that a man was crazy and tallking to himself, while I was walking the street and see a person talking to nobody.
But bluetooth has a good side also, I think that you are exposed to less radiation by using it, than talking with the traditional way.

If someone is walking around the street on his work day and has to talk, no problem. I understand it may be part of his job.

I do dislike when you're in a social setting, and you friend starts talking on it to his other friend for 10 minutes, I find it impolite. But that goes for phones too. I find cellphones and Bluetooth about the same when it comes to rudeness.

Though bluetooths can be handy I'm sure.

I agree with Cyro Xero. I don't pay much attention to people in crowds. Eventually, neural computers will be common and everyone'll look like idiots, typing in the air, pointing and selecting invisible windows...

I would not mind it if people using bluetooth would not walk right up to me, face me, look at my face and then start talking...

Really been way too many times when I´m just standing and suddenly some person walks up to me and says "hello" and I respond and the person is giving me this look of "wtf..."

My brother in law has bluetooth. I think its fine to have it, but I know a Kroger employee that got mad cuz he thought my brother in law was talking to him, then walked off. It was funny.

I think it does make people look crazy. Especially when they talk with their hands. Some guy walking alone shaking his fists and yelling looks like a psycho. People can be really rude on them, and talking to someone on the phone while talking to you. It makes it confusing to tell who they're actually talking to. I don't like them, but that's just me.

Well, sure it can be annoying, but I personally don't mind it too much, maybe because it hardly ever happens to me. But still, it is kind of annoying LOL.
