so it's the middle of the year now and things are going way better than i thought they would tbh. high school isn't that bad.

today we could pick 2 new electives to swap with the ones we've been taking for the first half of the year. instead of computer animation, i'm taking "CMA" (creating mobile applications). i wanted to pick computer animation again but the teacher said it would be a waste of time and she recommended not to since they'd just be using the same curriculum again from the beginning and it would be repetitive. anyway i picked CMA bc it sounded kinda neat and the guy who teaches it is really chill. he's taught me before. usually i pick classes that interest me the most instead of contemplating whether they'd be "easy As"  or not but in this case it was a bit of both lol. i'm not gonna go into details bc that'd be boring but basically it was the most appealing one out of the electives i could choose from that column.

also i renewed my art course yay.

apparently i'm still taking french and social studies, which is fine. i think they're considered as more "important" electives or whatever, so i have to stick with them until the end of the year. i heard grade 11 "branches out" more and that there are more electives to choose from so i'm excited about that. bye physics.

a few days ago there was the midyear award ceremony and i got 2! one for "perfect conduct" (are my teachers blind) and one for achieving distinction. i forgot what qualifies as distinction at my school rip. i'm on the honor roll again and there's this new thing called "principal's list" where u get badges and act as the principal's "advisers" or smth. i'm on that too. sweet.

i'm less shy when talking to other people in school now, i roasted some guy in class instead of being quiet as usual, and i even made a new friend called leen! i think this might be better than last year tbh. 

A lot more can happen in high school and I'm glad that's the case for you! Yeah, each year of high school you'll have more elective classes to choose from.

For me, since I'm in 11th grade I also could have tried to get into an AP (advanced placement) class which would prepare me for college. I chose not to but I really liked psychology class and it was easy, so I might try AP Psychology next year. It's a very difficult decision to make but I have plenty of time.

CMA sounds really fun. I'm sure many people want to make their own mobile apps. Physics does not sound fun. I have to take that next year but for now I have Chemistry, which might be even worse but sometimes we do cool lab experiments.

My school also has a Principal's List for honor roll but it isn't as special. It's for people who get all A's in one trimester. (We have trimesters instead of semesters unlike just about every other high school around here ) I made it to that this year and all it meant was that I got a $5 gift card to a restaurant located near the school. I used it but it didn't get me much so my parents paid for the rest.

Becoming less shy feels really great. I've improved this school year too, which is good because right now I have no friends in 4 out of 5 of my classes. :/
