Final Fantasy is a beloved franchise for sure, it's one of the best times for story-telling; emotional drama; Great gameplay and just good characters all around.

Unfortunately like any other franchise out there, Square has had quite a few Fanasties of their own. I'm SC64 and here's 5 things Square Enix wants you to forget about Final Fantasy.

10: Final Fantasy Used to be Turn based. If you look at the FF7 remake coming up for PS4 You'll see that the combat system is no longer turned based; it got changed towards the more Real-time based action RPG system that is used now, which was in-fact heavily borrowed from Kingdom hearts. So if you played the original FF7, Square Enix will not hear your cries for the remake to be turn based, that's simply how it is.

9: FF4 the After Years.
Described by many as just Recycled, The original FF4 was a huge success and starting point for the SNES. So when Square announced that FF4 the after years came out people were hyped and unfortunately disappointed by this follow up game.

8: EVERYTHING in FFX-2.
FFX wasn't the best final Fantasy game out there, the plot was a bit weird; there was the infamous Tidus laughing scene, but you could still relate and somewhat comprehend what was going on.

ENTER The Follow up game FFX-2 and oh my goodness, this game is a huge mess. Not only does it barely have anything to do with the Original Game, it's just all around Cringeworthy and awkward.
The only reason this game was made is to further the Love Triangle Between Yuna and Tidus. Now I'm not against a Love-based story going on, but sheesh don't make it like this.

Regardless to say; FFX-2 was very ILL recieved and came off as something everyone wished they didn't wanna spend their time on.

7: Final Fantasy 13 and FF13 Part 2.

Literally nothing about this made sense, If you look up on Youtube there's a video called Everything wrong with FF13 and FF13 Part 2. Basically they're both hour long videos just describing how many Plot holes were left in this mess up of a game.

6: FF2's battle system, tried and Failed.
Now I'll admit, I enjoyed FF2's battle system quite alot but the fact is that this system just enraged anybody who played this game. Hence why it was a one and done type of thing, They tried it but they soon went back to the original system in FF3 and just occasionally revamped it.

5: Final Fantasy Mystic quest.

This was around the era when Square thought that FF games constantly needed revamping or compensation for Being too hard.

Well this thing comes across as neither hard or difficult, they took nearly everything unique away from Final Fantasy with this release.

What's even more bad is that this was the only FF game on Snes in Europe, until FF6 Came around and saved the day. You people in the UK Have my respect for having to wait so long just for a good FF game.

Know of anything else that Square meessed up with Final Fantasy? Let me know below, until then have a good one.

SuperCrash64 : I would have to agree with you a few things on what you have said. Especially to do with FF-13 2 nothing in the game made sense whatsoever even the ending what it was so terrible. I am so happy I didn't get the game. FFX-2 I would also have to  agree with but as you know from me I liked the story mode and soundtracks the rest was rubbish. As for the original all I have to say its not for everyone, but for me it was one of the best games out there along with 6,7,8 and 9.

During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hung oppressively low in the heavens, I had been passing alone, on horseback, through a singularly dreary tract of country; and at length found myself, as the shades of the evening drew on.

Just thought I'd like to clarify that it wasn't necessarily turn based in the strictest sense, but rather it was something they introduced called Active-Time-Battle, in which gauges are filled in order for your turn to be next. Typically even if they were filled and you had the option to make an attack, the enemy could still attack you even if you were, say, cycling through menus.

The only truly turn-based Final Fantasy game was Final Fantasy X, in which the Active Time Battle system was not present in.

I'm fairly certain that, looking at the FF7 remake gameplay, it isn't Action-RPG in the strictest sense. It plays similar to Crisis Core which actually did have a small amount of Action-RPG elements but was still (or at least felt) turn based.

So basically not really but kinda at the same time.
