Sports. It's a huge part of the entertainment section of our lives, and a lot of people can't live without sports. There have been amazing moments, and there have also been downright dirty, disgusting moments in every sport, from American football to basketball to hockey to soccer. From incredible comebacks to the worst cheaters imaginable, we've seen it all.

Well, it's always good to focus on the positive, eh?

So, I was just wondering, for fans of every sport, what's the greatest moment you've ever witnessed in sports?

Personally, for me, it was seeing Leicester City lift the trophy at the King Power Stadium, their home ground. I had bought a ticket for the most historic, improbable moment in football history, and it was really emotional for the fans who had been through the rough and the best. Even as an Arsenal supporter, I was glad and ecstatic they won.

What have you guys seen?

It's really impossible for me to say just one, because I love sports and always love everything about sports.

When it comes to being at sporting events, my favorite event would have to be when I was at one of the National League Championship games in 2015 between the Mets and Cubs. It was big for the Mets, but was at the time historic for the Cubs, so just getting tickets that cost $20 normally for $100 was almost impossible.

Other big baseball events that I have been to just in the past 4 years alone include the Home Run Derby, the MLB debut of one of the best pitchers of the past decade, and a subway series complete game shutout.

Also been to an MLS championship match.

Probably the Volunteers v Gators game that was on last year. I wanted the Gators to win, and they have against Tennessee for around the past 15 years or so. But this year was different. Tennessee actually beat them, to my surprise. Good game.

I'm not sure if you mean in person, if so

It was seeing my local side AZ lift the Eredivisie. Even though i was quite young i still remember it well and i'm very grateful for what louis van gaal did for us.

If TV can count as well that's when it gets a lot harder

Pretty vague but i do remember when united won the champions league in Moscow. I was really young but i did sort of support united at the time so i was happy.

Also seeing Holland go through to the final of the world cup (we did screw it up like we always do but it was quite emotional when we went through)
Speaking of Holland the game where we beat Spain 5-1 was also great.

A couple years ago I went to a razorbacks football game (college, american football). I've been to several, but this one was different. Arkansas hadn't won a conference game in 2 years, but I hung in there with the team. We all did. We played our rival LSU, and we beat them 17-0 that night to snap the streak. The crowd stormed the field in excitement.

Well I am a die hard Atlanta Falcons fan. And up to this point, there is one game that sticks out to me. In 2012, the Seahawks came to town and played the Falcons in a Divisional Round playoff game ( a lot like the one that was just played, in fact ). But the difference is I actually went to this game. We had season tickets from 2001 - 2015 for 14 years, and this was the very first playoff game that I saw live.

Anyways in the game, the Seahawks scored a TD with like 30 seconds left ( I believe ) and made the score 28 - 27 after the tie breaking extra point. But the Falcons wasted no time in getting down the field, and finally in field goal range ( with nice catches from Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez ). There were 3 seconds left as Matt Bryant was lining up for the game winning FG and let me tell you guys...after almost 15 years of going to Falcons games, I have NEVER heard 70k+ people so quiet in my life. Bryant kicks it up in the air, and the ball split the uprights and the Georgia Dome absolutely EXPLODED after being so quiet. Fans, and myself, were going crazy because it had been the first Falcons playoff win since 2005...about 7 years.

Its still the greatest moment I had the pleasure of witnessing live. Unbelievable...

Well, this is really tough. Four moments come to mind for me. I'm a little biased for 3 of them, because I'm a die hard Spurs fan.

The first one was in pivotal Game 5 of the 2005 NBA Finals when the Spurs were playing the Pistons in Detroit. The series was tied 2-2 and the Spurs were down 93-95 with 9 seconds left in OT. Manu Ginobili sent the Robert Horry inbounded the ball to Manu Ginobili, and Ginobili was quickly trapped by two defenders near the sideline. He somehow was able to make a pass back to Robert Horry and he made a wide open three that would give the Spurs the lead and the win and the Spurs eventually won the series 4-3. The funny part is, the only thing I remember from that game was this play because I was only 4 years old at the time.

The second one in basketball was in Game 6 of the 2014 Western Conference Finals. Long story short, old man riverwalk Tim Duncan turned back the clock against KD and the Oklahoma City Thunder, put the team on his back in OT and took the Spurs back to the Finals with a 112-107 win. It wasn't a single moment so to speak, but the overtime period was an amazing showcase of an "over the hill" superstar.

The third basketball one was in Game 5 of the 2014 NBA Finals when the Spurs were up 3-1 in the series against Miami Heat. The Spurs erased a 22-6 deficit some time in the 1st quarter and came back and won by 17 (I think) to win their 5th championship. The play of the game was when Manu Ginobili dunked on Chris Bosh. It was literally an old man turning back the hands of time and posterizing one of the best bigs in the game on the biggest stage in the sport.

OK, my heavy bias aside, I think the one that barely edges out the rest was in football (American). In Super Bowl XLIII, the Pittsburgh Steelers were driving late in the fourth quarter down 20-23 to the Arizona Cardinals. Santonio Holmes made one of the greatest catches of all time in my opinion, when he caught the game winning touch down in the back corner of the end zone while somehow managing to keep his feet in bounds. It was probably the most exciting Super Bowl I have watched.

I get goosebumps whenever I watch any of these moments again on YouTube as these were all pretty great.

(That Aaron Rodgers throw to Jared Cook yesterday to set up the game winning field goal was pretty sick too .)

Out of the ones I've attended live, two are clearly above the rest.

The first one was in May 2016, during the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula One. During the preliminary weeks, Daniil Kvyat, driving for Red Bull Racing, had been demoted to Scuderia Toro Rosso, the secondary structure of the team, following his lame results and constant crashes. Max Verstappen, a youngster who was only in his second year, was promoted to fill his seat. In the race, just after the first three corners, the two title contenders crashed and cleared the way for Verstappen and his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. The drivers for Scuderia Ferrari struggled through the whole race to overtake them, and while they managed to get Ricciardo out of the way, Verstappen held them off like a boss to claim the win. The most perfect way to start in a new team for the new pearl of the sport, becoming the youngest winner at merely 18 years old. I've since become a die hard fan of him, just like most of the people who saw that, and I expect many great things from him in his upcoming full season at the team.

The second was in the maiden edition of the X Games our city held (more were scheduled, but the contract was tore to shreds). I attended it with a friend of mine, and we had high expectations for the Women's Motocross race because of a local heroine, Laia Sanz. In the first lap, she got stuck and lost nearly a lap with the rest of the competitors, but in a jaw-dropping performance she became the leader just as they started the third lap. Many people still remembers that day for the skating parks and such, but those of us who witnessed such a show will never ever forget it.

I have a clear one when it comes to televised events. It happened several years ago while I was away with my family in Galicia, in a group trip. My family and some friends of my father separated from the group to watch that afternoon's soccer match, which was no other than FC Barcelona - Real Madrid. Everyone in the bar was a clear fan of Real Madrid, and just us (minus my father and his friends) were fans of FC Barcelona. The match started with a goal from Real Madrid, highly celebrated by the bar as we kept to ourselves the hopes for the rest of the match. The tie came in, and we celebrated highly the second goal that put our club in front, and even more when we witnessed the third one. After the half time, Real Madrid managed to close the gap making it 3-2, and then awesomeness happened. Not only weren't they able to land any more goals, FC Barcelona landed three more of them. The bar was so quiet as we smiled, and we highly celebrated the win once we were outside. It's very strange for a match like this to feature more than three goals, so seeing this many and in such a place was incredible.

Votan88 : Don't forget the Gold Medal he won before claiming his US Open title. It was so surprising to see that Federer was once again deprived of the Olympic Gold, and this time in what I think it still is his personal garden

Mine is watching C.J Mccollum growing into a 'star rated player' this season of NBA. I know this kinda a lame answer, but, i really like CJ since he's drafted in 2013 by the Blazers, cause i play NBA 2K a lot and when i use CJ, it feels like he always sink the 3's which always makes me starts him over Wesley Matthews (back in NBA 2K14 i think) and now, seeing him starting for the blazers in every game and being a key part of the team besides Dame really makes me happy. I know, my team is kinda trash this season, but thats okay, we've played our first season without Aldridge and still doing pretty good, i can't wait for the next NBA season to start and seeing how the Blazers will grow next season #RipCityForLife

I think it is an interesting question if we watched on tv or were there live when it happened.

I have seen countless games in countless sports, from World Cup to the big four, basketball, baseball, football, and hockey games in the U.S. I don't follow Olympics as much and I'm not one for XGames.

The greatest sports moment I remember watching on tv and thinking, "Wow, this is special," was watching the 2005 Texas-USC Rose Bowl start to finish. It was perfect. The story lines, the changes in play, the lead changes, and the end were just four hours of perfect football. I wasn't there in person so I can't say I saw it live but I watched on tv and enjoyed every moment.

I think a great moment in person was in the ALCS in whatever year, 2014 maybe, when Max Scherzer and the Tigers had Oakland in Comerica Park. Max decides to walk and give up hits to load the bases with no outs late in the game with a slim lead. Then he strikes out two guys in a row and gets someone, maybe Coco Crisp, to fly out to center, stranding the ducks on the pond. The whole stadium was going nuts because he was going nuts in the dugout. It was awesome to watch him simply overpower some great hitters. Of course, don't walk the bases loaded and it's not a problem.

I'm a huge baseball and Football (American Version) fan. So here are my top sports moments I remember very well in no particular order

Craig Biggio 3,000th hit. Biggio is now in the Hall of fame. Growing up in the 80's and 90's Biggio was my favorite player in MLB growing up. He played the game the right. In 2007 Biggio was at the end of his career. He singled and doubled in a game to get his 3000th hit. It was a great moment to see one of the game's icons and one of my favorites reach that milestone.

I'm a huge Colorado Rockies fan. Colorado is infamous for its high powered offense. They play in a park called Coors Field, which is a nightmare for pitchers. The ball really carries in Coors Field.  One game against the Cardinals, who I am also a fan of, Colorado was down 10-2 in the 9th inning. Colorado hit a grand slam to make it 10-6. Then some more hitters would hit home runs and get on base. Finally, the next batter hit a 2 run home run to make it 11-10 Rockies win. Colorado scored 9 runs in the 9th inning. It was an impressive comeback.

St. Louis Cardinals comeback and win World Series in 2011. The 2011 World Series was Cardinals vs the Texas Rangers. Texas was with in 2 outs of winning its first World Series. I thought well this game is over. Texas's defense fell apart with errors and dropped balls. The Cardinals were down by 1 run. St. Louis hit a double to score the tying and winning run. St. Louis won the World Series coming from behind. It was St. Louis 11th World Series

2011 was a unique year in College Football. The #1 and #2 ranked teams where from the same conference. LSU and Alabama. Alabama had lost to LSU earlier in the year. Alabama's defense shut down LSU's running game. Alabama won 21 to 0 in one of the most defense dominated games of all time.

Arkansas upsets LSU again. Now I'm also an Arkansas fan. LSU was ranked in the top four in 2015. Arkansas was a 500 team at that time. LSU was favored to blowout the Hogs. Arkansas won the game and literally knocked LSU out of the final 4. It should be noted in 2014 Arkansas beat LSU for the first time in years.

Dodger Stadium 1988, Game 1 of the World Series. Sitting in the left field bleachers, I was 10 years old. I Saw Kirk Gibson deliver on 2 busted knees, against the 2nd greatest Modern Era Closer in MLB. Backdoor 3-2 slider he planted in the right field seats for his only appearance in the Series. Purely Magical!!!!!!

Coming back at the last second to win the game when there's only like 10 seconds left in the 4th quarter of the Football game. Iowa VS Michigan, 2016

I can cite two.

One: Donovan Bailey's win at the 100m dash in the Atlanta games. The stadium was completely silent! And he had established a world record in 1996, 9.84 seconds.

Two: Mark McGuire's 62nd home run of the season. Mickey Mantle's son (who looked just like him) was in the audience. I think that game stopped for nearly 30 minutes to celebrate his record (my sister had also taped his 61st one).

The only memorable one that I can think of that I've actually seen, and remember seeing is the Ravens upsetting the Broncos in route to their Super Bowl win in the 2012 season. I think it was Super Bowl 47.

As an avid football and Patriots fan, I have to say, the greatest sports moment that I have ever witnessed was Malcolm Butler's interception of Russell Wilson on the 1 yard line. I personally believe that winning that Super Bowl ended the discussion of best quarterback of all-time. Also, from a player's perspective, Butler read the play well, like the amount of film watched and game prep clearly was evident before the play began. I think the sports world would view Tom Brady, the Seahawks, and NFL history completely differently if that play never occurred. Plus, it felt so great to witness especially after the last two Super Bowl appearances for the Pats ended in heartbreak to a Manning. :/

I'm a huge Alabama fan, and it's the 2013 Iron Bowl. Some of you know what this is. It was played in Jordan-Hare stadium, home of the Auburn Tigers. Coming into the game, the Tigers were ranked 4, and the Crimson Tide were ranked 1st. The winner of this game advanced to the SEC championship and if they won, the National Championship.

After a hard-fought game, Alabama and Auburn were tied at 28 points. Alabama had possession of the 40 yd line. Cade Foster lined up to kick a 57-yard Field Goal. Auburn's Chris Davis fell back to the goal line to receive it in case it fell short. It fell short. Davis received it, and Alabama didn't seem ready for a return. As Davis starting running towards the left side of the field, Auburn was getting an increased amount of blockers. Davis was now at the 40. The only players that seemed to be able to catch him was Foster (Kicker from 2011-2014) and McCarron ( Alabama's QB from 2010 - 2013).  As Davis streaked over to Alabama's 25 yard line, Foster desperately tried to catch him. McCarron, knowing that Auburn fan's would probably storm the field if Auburn beat the #1 team, decided to get off the field before Auburn could win.

As Davis stormed down the field, Alabama couldn't catch him, and he streaked into the end-zone. Instantly, both coaches were on the field to meet, and some of the fans starting storming the field. Later on, it seemed as if the entire stadium was on the field. A few days after the game, the NCAA fined Auburn for the fans storming the field AND tearing down the goal posts, which you're not supposed to do.

It still pains me to this day. (edit: you may have to highlight the post to read it properly)

I've got a lot of sports moments that have just been amazing for me.

First of all, watching Michael phelps dive in, and win, his final event as an Olympic swimmer was amazing. Being a swimmer myself, watching the greatest man to ever swim take his final laps was special for me. Michael had been such a role model for me throughout my entire life, watching him win in multiple Olympics was amazing but that final race was something special for me.

Another big one for me was watching Jeff Gordon win at martinsville for the last time in 2015, locking him into the last round of the playoffs. In such a famed career, this win was his biggest for me. After having such a long dry spell without winning, that win in the darkness in martinsville was huge. The same goes for Tony Stewart's win at Sonoma the next year, in almost the same type of situation.

At the Austrian Grand Prix last year, with one to go teammates Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton got into a wreak, resulting in Rosberg (the leader at the time) to finish forth with Hamilton winning. Everything that followed afterwards in the teammate battles was very memorable.

The most memorable one for me however was Dan Weldon winning the Indy 500 in 2011. The race was already memorable due to JR Hildabrands wreak off of turn 4 on the last lap losing him the race, but it only got more memorable when Dan Weldon died only a few months later. Dan was a favorite of mine, and that news crushed me. I'm so glad he won the biggest race of his career that same year.

If we are talking about things that we witnessed in person, I was able to see Michael Jordans last game in Chicago before retiring. Which was probably my most favorite sports moment.

I've also been able to see a number of Bulls playoff games in person as well as watch the Blackhawks win game 1 of of the Stanley Cup finals at the UC in 2010. Watching Konerko blast a grand slam in game 2 of the 2005 World Series in Chicago was pretty amazing as well.

I also was able to attend the 2003 MLB home run derby in Chicago that saw Garret Anderson battle Albert Pujols in an EPIC final round.

My favorite sports moment I've witnessed on TV would have to be any of the number of championships Jordan won in the 90s. I think my favorite moment was him shrugging off the cameras vs the Blazers in the 92 finals. Being 14 at that time and Living in Portland Oregon, it was fun irritating my friends while they watch my Bulls smoke their Blazers ;-)
