The Megas are a pretty unknown band, they make Mega Man cover music and put in there own lyrics and chord progressions along with it. Definitely worth a listen if you like Mega Man 1-3.

Hm... I like a lot of bands, so  this wouldn't be my only favorite relatively unknown band, but I used to listen to Changin' My Life's music a lot because they sang a few songs that I really enjoyed in the anime called Full Moon wo Sagash(i)te (In Search of Full Moon).

Its must be this Norwegian band called Rød mix. They make country, but they sing in Norwegian, but not many Norwegian have heard of them before I think since I have never met someone who listen to them. I think they are awesome anyways

They were a band in the 80's-90's that played psycadellic rock music. Their best songs are don't hate me, stars die, and even less.

Steven Wilson went solo a few years back, and I love both his albums 4 1/2 and the raven that refused to sing.

My favorite underrated band is probably Radical Something. I don't think a lot of people know this band, i mean, their genre and musical character is in the mainstream side, but they only have 16K followers in Soundcloud so yeah, I considered them underrated. And yeah, this band is kinda a alternative, acoustic kind of band and they fills some hip hop and rock elements into their song, and it blends perfectly, i really like their musical style and i really hope they'll grow bigger in the future

I want to add an older band here, while they did get several songs that have since gotten recognition, they have been traditionally underrated. (Since the 60's they've gotten some recognition.) 

This is of coarse CCR... Also known as Creedence Clear Water. Great band that made Southern Rock, even though they were from Cali, which is not considered the South. (It's the West, so it's odd that they'd talk about The Mississippi, Swamps, Gators, etc. It's just awesome!)

I'd personally recommend people King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard if you're into some acid rock. They originally came about in 2010 but I'm not sure they've gained much notoriety since then.

Miami Horror makes some excellent nudisco songs. The funkiness and happy vibe you get off them is really fun.

Animal Collective makes really fun, summery music that sounds awesome.

Neutral Milk Hotel has a really weird, almost spooky vibe to their music. If you havent heard In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, do it. His voice might throw you off, but it is 300% genuine and the Anne Frank centric lyrics will definitely interest you.
