Our topic is Vizzed memes. I heard a rumor on here there are memes. But not very much. I can be misunderstood, but i'm certain it's true. Now, i have the question if anyone knows what could possibly happen if Vizzed had it's own meme supply. I mean, can it harm the Vizzed community on some way? Or is it worth making memes and try to make them a daily routine?

We actually had threads for making meme conversations, I dunno if they were closed due to spam or something.

I thought that's what the The Land of Doge forum was partially for, but I might be mistaken.

This is a horrible suggestion. Not only are memes unsatisfying, unfunny and unwitty, but they are even a lower form of humor than puns.

Memes are only for the halfwit 12 year olds who have no concept for reality. Memes eventually take whatever personality you had and replace it with just generic ways that people act. There is no point to memes, because they're not funny and they just slowly degrade your personality and intelligence.

Try having an intelligent conversation to someone who's entire personality is just memes. It doesn't work.

If ANY of you think memes are funny or cool, you need to rethink your life. You need to get your head out of the clouds, and you need to grow up.

Memes would add nothing to the forums.

yoshirulez! : Or just maybe, people might enjoy a different kind of humor than you?  It's just a visual form of comedy, I fail to see what neccessairly makes that so horrible. Can it get tiring to see people reposting the same meme over and over? Yes it gets old like any other type of joke.  But who said humor has to be complex to hold any value? Does it always have to be some sort of social commentary in order to be allowed to exist? I think that would become tiring pretty quickly. Lots of people who claim that "memes are cancerous" also like slapstick which is probably the most basic form of humor there is. That would make classic Looney Toons cartoons some of the "lowest form of humor" there is. Which I think is something most wouldn't agree with. Humor is about more than just what's expressed through words. 

Furthermore how can someone's personality "be memes". That doesn't even make sense. When was the last time you actually met someone who solely communicates through memes? Never, because those people don't exist.

Zlinqx : Firstly, memes are not comedy.

Second, I deal with memelords every day. They try to fit any sort of meme image, meme video or meme phrase into anything, and this also applies to conversations they should take seriously.

Talking to someone about suicide? They throw in a meme. Talking about politics? They throw in a small loan of a million dollars.

The main point is that memes are simply too inane to warrant their own discussion, because there's nothing to be discussed about it. It's just "Hey, I know this thing" and then add "XD".

yoshirulez! : That's the entire point I'm making though. Why does humor constantly need to have a deeper meaning? Why does there have to be something to discuss? Having so many different types of humor is what allows things to stay entertaining. A world where the only form of humor involves social commentary of some sort would become dull pretty quickly. Especially so considering many enjoy humor because it allows one to get away from real life. That doesn't make it objectively "better" or "worse" as it depends on the circumstances.

And though rare, memes can be a way to express ideas in a more relatable manner. Not all memes are the same either, jokes can be good or bad regardless of what form of humor it regards and the same applies to memes. It's easy for you to say they are all the same thing when you don't really enjoy them to begin with. The truth is they require certain timing and typically wit to be effective even for those who enjoy them. 

Zlinqx : This is a forum. Things are discussed here. We had a forum that lacked discussion (Land of Doge) and it died. There's a reason it died, and that's because a forum requires discussion.

Without having a deeper meaning, there is no potential for discussion. With no discussion, there is nothing. I repeat, this is a forum.

I do enjoy some memes, but only when they're executed correctly. I've rarely ran into someone who could use a meme properly, and they've never been on Vizzed. All of the memes in The Land of Doge were executed poorly.

Yes, people use humor to escape reality, and yes, that's fine to an extent, but it shouldn't be added to Vizzed because it would just be spammy.

goodboy : Aren't you uh... kinda missing the point? Vanelan already pointed out the fact that I was a bit harsh, and I recognize that. I don't really think it's necessary to be pointed out twice

yoshirulez! : Right I'm not saying they need to be the center of attention or that we even needed an entire forum dedicated to memes but the point of this forum is for people to enjoy themselves. That is why we are having discussions to begin with. Thus I don't see the harm in memes being used once in a while to make a point or for a quick laugh. Your initial post seems to condemn the existence of memes in any shape or capacity and just saying that they are pointless in general, rather than just pointing out that there may not be much to discuss.

Zlinqx : There's nothing wrong with using a meme or two here and there, but the thread is about having MORE memes.

More memes would just be a terrible idea. It's bad to encourage people to meme because it's not as wholesome as actual discussion.

And yes, I was condemning memes in at least most forms because generally most forms of memes aren't relevant to anything. I don't condemn people who use memes, but they just don't help situations. They're useless.

To recap, I do hate memes, and we shouldn't get more memes because they'll just mess up the flow of the forums. Keyword more.

I'm at least tolerant of what we already have. I'm just against the idea of having even more of it.
