We all love pretty good villains. Some win us over with charm, others with ambition, willpower, class, demeanor, and so on. Villains drive a story about conflict. When it comes to baddies I like, the first that comes to mind is Scar from The Lion King. He's practically the catclyst behind the whole plot and such an entertaining villain, it's hard not to adore him. What villains do you guys like? You can name as many as you want, from different mediums and all.

I think I'd have to pick Nagato from Naruto Shippuden. The guy oppressed an entire nation, murdered countless people, turned his friends organization into a terror group and tried to hand out weapons of mass destruction to each of the nations before instigating a world war, but despite all that madness, his intentions were pure. Well, sort of... His goal was to end war. His parents were killed in front of him as a result of a war, he almost starved to death as a result of a war, his best friend was coerced into killing himself by the leader of one of the nations involved in the war.... Really, he just wanted to end war by any means, even if it meant causing one so massive and horrible that everyone lost their taste for blood. He was dealt a bad hand and it distorted his perception of reality, but his cause was actually kind of noble.

My favorite villain would be Shere Khan from the jungle book. I actually sympathize with him. In the Jungle Book series its revealed. How Khan had a family. His family was killed by poachers. Thus this sent the tiger into a rage. He developed a hateful passion for humans for what they did to him. Even though he is supposed to be bad. You kind of feel sorry for him because he turned bad due to losing his family. 

Cobra Commander from the GI Joe series and toys. Cobra Commander is an evil person and runs the Cobra organization. He wants to rule the world. But later in the toy and series line its revealed why. Cobra Commander family was attacked by the military due to a mistake. He lost a lot of family members. This enraged the young Cobra Commander. So he set up his own organization to carry out attacks mainly against GI Joe and other world armies such as the October Guard. He wants the world to be in misery like him and he wants to rule the world with an iron fist.  Later he has gained a lot of fans esp when he yells COBRRRRRAAAAA. 

Another villain would be Dr. Wily from the Mega Man series. Dr. Wily keeps coming back and each time he has a new scheme. He has been out for revenge, tried to frame others for his crime, broke out of Jail, used alien energy, and created a virus. It seems like he comes up with something new each time. Also Wily plays a role in the X series having created the Sigma Virus by his last project the hero Zero. However, Zero had a vicious fight with Sigma. Sigma became infected with the Virus. This turned Sigma evil and Zero into a good guy. Dr. Wily communicates with Zigma during the X series.

King Boo from Luigi's Mansion. King Boo is an interesting character. He is king of all boos except not all Boo's follow him. He is revealed to be Bowser's main ally. However, this king comes up with schemes of his own. He is more about revenge such as capturing Mario and trying to capture Luigi. He also is protective of his boo minions. He is such a good villain as he cares about his minions. Not many villains care about their minions. This is shown in the first Luigi's mansion he rescues one of his Boo Minions. Later in other games he reveals that his minions are his friends and his boo buddies are cute. 

King Rool from Donkey Kong Country. King Rool is the leader of the Kremlin reptile army in the Donkey Kong series. But King Rool is an awesome villain. He comes up with different schemes each time. Sometimes he just causes problems for the Kongs because he can. He also goes by different names and has a new theme every time. In DKC I he has a military theme. In the next game. He puts on a pirate outfit and becomes Captain K. Rool. In the third series he creates a robot as a phony leader. Then he reveals himself as Baron K Roolstein with a science theme. He is puts up a very good fight each time.

Bowser- Yeah you knew he was going to be on here. Bowser is a villain who uses different tactics to try to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. He also has 8 children and several minions working for him. Bowser though you kind of feel sorry for. Its hinted at in the Mario Games how Bowser is bitter because he is rejected by the Mushroom Society. He wants to take over them cause he is mean but he wants to be respected too. However, his actions cause the kingdom to despise him even more. 

Bushroot and Mega Volt from Darkwing Duck. Bushroot was once an advanced biologist. He worked with plants believing plants were the future. His colleagues laughed at him and was heckled. His employer was going to cut funding down. So Bushroot did his experiment on himself. It worked but it turned Bushroot into a half plant duck creature. It also gave him the ability to control plants. His girlfriend was ashamed that he violated ethics and she broke up with him. His colleagues heckled him so he used his new ability to kill them. However, the thing about Bushroot is he is not  really evil. His actions come out of being rejected and lonely. He also cares about the Earths environment and will protect it at all costs. The bad thing is his actions are often eco terrorism which puts him into conflict with Darkwing. Mega Volt was an up and coming scientists. However, pranksters thought it would be funny to sabotage his experiment. This gave Mega Volt the permanent ability to release electricity at anyone he chooses. His very dangerous as not only did the sabotage give him this ability it also made him insane. He will release electricity on anyone who gets in his way. He can also control the amount he releases. I like Mega Volt because I like storms and storms produce lightning.  

Finally the Joker and Poison Ivy from the Batman franchise. Joker is Batman's most dangerous and number 1 enemy. Joker is insane and crazy which makes him very unpredictable as you never know what he will do. Plus he has that awesome iconic laugh. Even when he gets defeated or arrested he still laughs about it. Ivy is more of a victim then a villain. Ivy was once a brilliant environmental scientists. She worked under though a brutal doctor. He sabotaged her science projects thus turning her into Poison Ivy. Ivy, became immune to all poisons including Joker poison. She also gained the ability to control plants. This makes Ivy very dangerous. Ivy though unlike Joker does not really set out to murder people. Ivy mainly just wants to protect the forests and environment. Thus she is more of an ecoterrorist than a homicidal maniac. Her actions though are still criminal and puts her at odds with Batman. She is also a martial artists and can give Batman a run for his money.
