I'd have to say no. Forums don't really constitute as a form of media to me. Definitely hits the social requirement though.

bigger0gamer : In this case, the word media doesn't mean like TV/news or whatever. In "Social media" media comes from Computer-mediated communication, which is literally communication through electronic devices. In fact the legal definition of Social media is "forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information" which is exactly what Vizzed is.

In fact, in my last post I used the word micro-blogging, which is considered short blog posts, which is what the board would be, and the dictionary uses that term for social media.

While I'm only here for the forums and community, I don't see it as social media.

I consider Vizzed.com social media because I define social media as a website where ideas are created and exchanged. Information, career interests, technology and other forms of expression are shared in a community where similar tastes and preferences are shared.

So, we all generally like video games but we differ in whether we like Sony or Nintendo, or something else. We exchange ideas between which Pokémon is the best or whether or not Final Fantasy is worth the time to play and experience the story.

The different threads and forums is a place to talk about life and what we're going through. That's socializing, whether any of you want to think of it that way or not. We have 'friends' on here that are maybe more valuable than people in real life. You spend time interacting with others and you do it on a technology (media) platform. That equals social media.

Like what Mossberg said, we have meaningful conversations and we develop relationships. If that's not the whole point of social media, I don't know what is. And we are certainly social media.
