Everyone has at least one - A game that gets so much flak it's unbelievable. A game like Silent Hill Downpour, for example! As a fan of the series, I've played through the majority of Silent Hill games, and I cannot for the life of me understand why that game is seen as the black sheep of the family when there's games like Origins and Homecoming. It has some technical issues while nothing major, but the story and characters were once again amazing. I felt really invested and the soundtrack was great. It's such a shame the developer is now no more...

Anyway, what's your favourite game that's generally looked down upon by either critics or gamers? And why do you think it's actually better than people make it out to be?

I would have to say Dark Cloud on the PS2. Like the game has a lot more to offer than people think. I know there I at least a few people out there who have played it and can agree to what I would say about the game. Its truly amazing with great soundtracks, and really fun to play. I hope maybe in time more people can play the game when they can.

There's a downloadable game on the 3DS eShop called The Starship Damrey, and it received quite mediocre reviews, but it's definitely one of my favorite game experiences. It was super unique and atmospheric, I've never played anything else like it, and its storytelling was awesome. It definitely deserves more love and attention than it got.

The Dark Cloud series is a great example of a quality game that just never got the respect it deserves. Rogue Galaxy is another underappreciated game. The Warriors is criminally overlooked. Most just see the graphics and dismiss it. But you can do so much in game. You can snuff out a rival gang's tag,steal car radios,break into stores,help people in your turf,work out to improve your stats among other things.

Dino Crisis 2 was a really good game that caught a bunch of flak that it didn't deserve. The next one is Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon. This game, when you take it in consideration with it's narrative and the very implication of it's name in context with what it's about, is nothing short of beautiful. Plus it improved on some of the issues where older Harvest Moon games had struggled. Not my favorite HM, but still great.
