So I got this idea for the thread yesterday. My mother called me outside to help her out with the shopping, and I know it was very cold. She brought quite an amount so I told her to go on ahead to put the first batch of shopping into the house while I wait with the rest of them outside. So I began dancing around like warming up in the best possible way. Two of these English grown up men were walking down from a hill distance to me. My guess probably going to the pub or something when they got closer one of them asked *Are you alright sweetheart?* I replied back saying happily *Yeah I'm fine! Just cold lol* *Very cold isn't it?* *Yeah it is!* both of the men continued their way to wherever they were going. For some odd reason that made me to smile. Its not everyday people do that in life some do, but most don't. Has a scenario of this sort has ever happened to you before?

If (demi)drunk people in parties counts, then I have more cases than I can remember

Besides that, I can only remember a couple people in the subway. One asked me if what I had strapped to my left arm was a phone, but it was an MP3 that, by the way, I was using and thus didn't notice the question at first. He talked English, so lucky of him to find me because others may not understand him around here

The second was a nostalgic old man that was making comments about how colorful and lively the clothes of the people in the wagon were compared to his younger times. I think he approached four or five men besides me, so he really was amazed by the colored ambient. He indeed made us smile the rest of the travel

zanderlex : I think you may be similar to my big brother in a way zander. He gets that too when he goes out most of the time. He normally comes home telling these stories when he is free to come and visit me and my mother.

Eniitan : yes I have on more than one occasion had strangers come up and talk to me,sometimes they ask for the time or for money but it never bothers me as long as they don,t appear to look or act suspicious but there was a time when I was finished work at 11:00 at night and as I was walking through a tim horton,s parking lot heading to my bus stop 2 men in a grey van approached and asked me if I wanted to buy a carton of cigarettes but when I refused luckily they drove away and did not follow or bother me,although I don,t smoke there is no way I would ever buy anything from anyone on the street that I don,t know because you never know if it belongs to them or they stole it from somewhere

no 8120 : True very true. I think this mostly happens to people who do go out a lot as I said before. I don't go out much so that kind of thing is very rare with me. But, if you go to work and or other things everyday for 5 or 7 days then there will be random people coming up to talk to you about one thing or another. Good thing you didn't buy anything from those men who drove the grey van as you mentioned. Personally I wouldn't do it as well because I don't smoke either.

About 2 months ago I met the devil. I was outside at like 9pm one night and this girl about 30 years of age comes up to me wearing crocs and had marker drawn all over her and she started rambling. She introduced herself as the devil. I don't know what street drug she was on (crack, heroin, meth... perhaps all three) but it was definitely something hardcore because she was talking like the girl in the exorcist movie. I watched closely and did not see her head spin so that is a good sign. She then took out a bus map and was flipping through it and randomly pointing to things in there like they were some sort of secret Illuminati code. I really didn't know what the hell to say I just nodded the entire time and pretended like I understood what she was saying. The only things I picked up from her conversation was that she was the devil and had mentioned something about killer clowns from outerspace. After about 10 minutes I said I gotta go now and got inside.

Yes it does happen quite often, even though people around here like to keep to themselves for the most part. Especially the elderly might strike up conversation at a bus stop, first talking about the weather and then going on to what they are up to that day. That rarely happens with people my age and I think it's quite sad. I do like having random chats with people, they usually brighten up my day. Then there are occasions when the random person is drunk, I try to avoid those conversations (except if they are in trouble and need help).

It has happened a few times in the past, most of the times it has happened the people were very nice and made a simple joke or something, but there was one time that was really strange:

I needed to get money from an ATM machine, when there was this guy walking on the street with no shirt, but he was wearing pants and shoes. Not only that, he also had this kind of look on his face that made it clear that he wasn't totally normal. He was walking in my direction, and I had to walk in his direction to reach the ATM machine, so I tried to avoid making eye contact with him. All of a sudden he starts looking at me, so I look back and he says "So, did you think that?" and then he continues walking. It was one of the most random things that has ever happened to me, but somewhat funny as well.
