So, as you can tell from the picture, my favourite historical figure is Alexander Hamilton - A revolutionary, manumission abolitionist.
If you don't know who he is, he's one of America's 7 founding fathers. (Yes, there are 7) He fought in the revolutionary war as George Washington's right hand man.
His achievements:
General in the revolutionary war.
Is responsible for the National Banks.
Was part of George Washington's original Cabinet.
First ever Secretary of Treasury.
Wrote 51 of the Federalist papers (Anonymous documents defending the new US constitution)
Was involved as the defence attorney for USA's first murder trial.

There are so many achievements, listing them all would be too long a list, and I'm sure a list that long would violate some rule somewhere.
This man had so many achievements in such a short life, it's impossible to deny Hamilton's greatness.
Unfortunately, this amazing figure died in a duel with his political rival: Aaron Burr. Hamilton shot up to signal an end to the dispute, Burr shot Hamilton through the chest.

There is also a musical about Hamilton - look it up, it's perfect and amazingly accurate on the history (Some parts are exaggerated, of course, like the singing xD)

This man was a shining example of a political, historical figure.

Who is yours?

That is a good question. One of my favorite historical people would be Benjamin Franklin. He was an inventor,a statesman,a diplomat,a scientist, had a love of learning. Without him,we may not have America. I believe he left a sum of 5000 dollars (that was huge at the time) and asked that it be donated to improving libraries.

Oldschool777 : Another founding father, just shows they're some of the best people in History. But, it's not everyday you create a new nation, is it. They all have everything to be admired for.

Some are born into greatness, some have greatness thrust upon them. I think many more know Hamilton from the musical than actual reading. But that is fine,at least Hamilton will not be forgotten. You have to admire and think what a damned fool he was. Hamilton fired in the air, allowing Burr to kill him. But Hamilton was no stranger to dueling. He had engaged in 10 duels before that one.

Oldschool777 : Hamilton achieved his greatness - the third part of that phrase.
The musical is amazing too, and I'm glad people are learning about him, he deserves recognition or to quote the musical "He doesn't get enough credit, for all the credit he gave us."
It sucks his son died from a duel with George Eacker, because he (George) shot before the 10th pace. I'm sure he would have continued the legacy.

But, Hamilton's death was also too early and easily avoided. Like father like son, I guess.

You have to admit, the founding fathers - all of them - were some of the greatest people of all time.

I think, honestly, if it wasn't Hamilton - or any founding father - I'd go with King Henry VIII. Y'know, besides the state executions, the craziness, the greed... Okay, I think I just like learning about him more than I like him.

Greatness can be a fickle thing. I liked Hamilton because he straight up did what he felt was right. And he was willing to die for his beliefs.

Too true. But both were hot headed and pride comes before the fall.

That is why they are revered and should be used as role models.

If I had to pick anyone else,I would probably go with either Musashi (a man that was undefeated in duels and was adept at strategy) or Alexander the Great,he was a conqueror as well as a scholar.

I'll probably go along with Hamilton as well, mainly because I hear about him literally ALL THE TIME. Probably just two years ago I wouldn't have known much about him though and yet now I have learned so many different things about him from various places.
