I know the Klonoa series is really good. Although it's first party, I know Kirby and the Amazing Mirror isn't too well known.

There is a game called Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand that was developed by Hideo Kojima, and the game is powered by the sun. As in, there's an object in the game that uses actual solar power, so you need to take the cartridge outside. I've never played it, but it sounds like a really cool concept.
