Me and Maguc went ahead and had our match. I led most of the way, but Maguc made an epic move by having his Snorlax use self-destruct, KOing both my Pokemon on the field at the time, leaving him with an Umbreon, and me with a Girafarig and a Durant. Next turn, Durant one hit KO'ed Umbreon, giving me a 6-4 victory.

So this happened. I was really iffy on the beginning match since the type match up's were in both of our favors, but I swept the floor with Fearow and Toady. I would've only done it with three pokemon if I hadnt forgotten that Scraggy was partly dark-type xD

TornadoMudkip : You did really good considering xD

Fyredove : The salt is real today. Mudkip cries in a corner.

Your Fearow was very hungry. I was shocked to see how many of my Pokémon went down because of it. Reflect didn't help me a lot and my luck was completely gone today. At least you can feed your six Magikarps now.

So this matchup escalated quickly. Fyredove more or less just ends up sweeping Mudkip's entire team mostly thanks to a good opening with Fearow and a bit luck. Once Fearow finally is defeated it's revealed that she had both a Xerneas and a Primal Groudon along with who knows what left making short work of Scrafty. Seemingly looking like it was going to be a pretty one sided matchup regardless of how it started. It seems like Fyredove will finally be able to feed her Magikarps with her 25000 Viz. One very salty Mudkip that already barely missed the finals leaves empty handed, perhaps she'll eventually return for revenge.

Champion Matchup

So in a suprising turns of events the final matchup ends up featuring no mega evolutions or legendary Pokemon. Ultimately it seemed like Maguc had lost much of the edge he had in previous matchups if also having a bit of unlucky type matchup. He wasn't able to start of with a lead this time and gamer ends up controlling the match throughout. Maguc did manage to make a somewhat powerful move in using self destruct with snorlax but at that point it was already too late for a comeback. Gamer wins the grand prize and defends his title as champion of the Pokemon Randomized Team Tournament having made a fairly dominant performance throughout. Maguc still leaves with 50000 Viz and a respectable performance netting him 2nd place.

Thanks to everyone who participated! It was awesome to go the entire tournament without a single person dropping out. Keep a look out for the next tournament, while it'll likely be a long while until then I have a lot of interesting ideas I want to try and it will likely be the most grand one yet. Well, this was a success.

This is the first time in a while someone other than me has run a successful game in IT in a long time.

legacyme3 : Probably because of the nature of the tournament. It's Pokemon which nearly everyone on vizzed has played, using a browser based game which more or less anyone can run as long as they have a computer. Because the matchups are random it also doesn't require too much of a time investment since users don't have to build their own teams unlike most other competitions or tournaments on the site.

I'm hoping to host a longer running  Pokemon Showdown competition where everyone has to face everyone. Haven't decided if that should be randomized or people should be able to build their own teams, might let others vote on it. It would ideally take place during the winter break though when more can hopefully participate and it'll be easier on me as well since work is starting to crop up in school. Whenever I get around to finalizing how I want it to work I'll pm you about it.

Zlinqx :

I'd say, allow players to make their own teams WITHIN REASON.

IE - No legendaries/megas/other OP pokemon. Force it to be strategy based, where you have to build a team of six with specific limitations.

legacyme3 : The risk with doing a team building one is that it might have less people interested because it requires more of a time investment but that's why I figured I'd leave it up to vote.

If it was a teambuilding comp I'd probably restrict it in accordance with tiers, so maybe OU pokemon and below or possibly setting a limit on OU Pokemon and disallowing Megas and Ubers.
