No, but honestly, just because other people don't know what you're talking about doesn't mean you get to discredit them.  I'm sure I could go into something that a ton of people understand but folks on this website don't get, maybe sports or 1980s sports references or boxing, and I won't dump on any of you for not knowing the thing.

It reminds me of my youngest brother, who's only 25.  He's dating a new girl, who's 23, and she asked me what embarrassing things he's done in the past ten years.  I didn't know her really well but I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I didn't share anything because it's not worth making fun of him. 

I'm assuming the two people in that chat were males and they were sports guys and they didn't play or care about Pokemon.  That's fine.  Don't pooh-pooh them because they don't like the same things you do like.  That's just not fair.

Ash will win, but they'll "kill him off" in that episode. Then Alain will take his place and marry Serena. They'll have 5 wonderful children, a Rhyhorn and a Skiddoo. Then Ash (not dead) will show up. Serena will file for divorce, marry Ash and the show will continue normally from there. Ash will still be 10 years old.

Well, to be fair, I don't know who Alain is either. Some sports team thing?

I think that it would probs be better if you put which series the characters came from. Like, there are probably a ton of characters named Ash, and if I decided to do something like "X vs Zero" someone could be like "what Zero? From Kirby? Sure why not?". But if I specified was series... then finally I get what I'm looking for :p.

Ghostbear1111 : i agree wholeheartedly. the fact that their interests differ from mine doesn't give me the right to discredit them, but i suppose their anonymity made it feel less like defamation and more like harmless fun. it wasn't the fact that they were clueless as to what pokemon was but more what they assumed my question was talking about, i guess :p. in retrospect it isn't all that strange considering the olympics are in progress, but i got a laugh out of it for some reason. my sense of humor is pretty odd. anyway, i've argued in actual essays saying how stupid it is to mock people because they're into different things, so please don't think i'm the kind of person who actively antagonizes others for having different interests from mine :s. i've even stopped being friends with certain people because of how often i'd go back and forth with them about the things they would say to others based on what they liked (or didn't like). i guess the two strangers in the screenshot could come across this and get embarrassed somehow, so i may take it down. one thing's for sure, though - i'm rather embarrassed myself! it hadn't occurred to me that anyone would interpret this as ridicule, but it isn't such an unusual conclusion to come to now that i think about it. thanks for being caring enough to make a point of defending them, though! that was admirable!

ZeeTee : Just THE new guy with a Charizard. The anime has made a big deal out of Alain. He's Ash's biggest rival right now. His Charizard can mega evolve, and when Ash first fought him, with Ash-Greninja (Ash's Greninja can "mega evolve" due to a bond it has with Ash, and because it's a special case, it's called "Ash-Greninja"), Ash lost. It seems implied that Ash will win this time (and beat a Pokemon League for the first time!), but the episode in which we see what happens has yet to air. There was even a spin-off special with Alain dealing with Mega Evolution.

NintendoFanKimmy :  I'm just trying to stay open minded.  Honestly, the post wasn't the thing that got me.  The screen shot was amusing and I could easily see them thinking someone was talking about a badminton match or equestrian or something they didn't know was going on.  Those names could be English, Kiwi, anything.

The part that made me respond was the "Oh My God" part where the huge mental eye roll was obvious.  I smiled at your post because I saw what you were doing but the negative part just bothered me.

If you titled it almost anything else, I probably would not have been so defensive.  Thanks for being empathetic and seeing this from a different point of view.  There are people who would just be angry, defend themselves, and ignore everyone else.
