So for the 3rd year in a row, I'm going to be a part of the program that gives jobs for the summer and I have an interview on Thursday and I'm both excited and nervous. Its a bit different for me because of the job that I picked though. I had my program orientation like a week or so ago and if I picked any other job, I would have gotten all of my info then and I would have started the job today. If I do well at the interview, which shouldn't even be like a real interview, just getting to know stuff, I would start on the 11th and work for 6 weeks.

Last year I was actually hoping to get this job, but it was gone, and I ended up picking the courthouse instead. That was a different place but the same work, so I figure I might be able to do well here since I already know a lot of the stuff from last year. It's probably going to be a lot of paperwork, a lot of filing, a lot of pulling staples out of papers, etc.

The job itself though, is with a pretty big place, the NYC department of the MTA, that's the state owned transportation company, and I always wondered what it would be like to work for the subway/buses so here's my chance. Maybe this could finally be the time where I get to keep a part time job after the summer ends? (all the other jobs, like the one at the courthouse, either required a degree or you to take some sort of an exam, so who knows)

Good luck zander. I hope you get it. I am sure as in heck you need it. It seems like a great job to have. Would you know how many dollars you would earn by working at this job? Or would it be most likely that they would in the interview. Since some jobs or most would let you know of how much money that you would earn when working for them.

zanderlex : Good luck with the interview, and I know you will do great since you are such a friendly person That's a neat program they do there in NYC.  It would be awesome if it turned into longer than 6 weeks for you, but if not, just remember it all looks good on your resume when you are looking for a longer, full-time job in the future

Eniitan : If I do the entire thing, its going to come out to about $1350, the amount of money that I would get paid was already known since about January. Of course, I doubt that i would be able to make the entire $1350, first of all I'm not sure how much of it will be taken out for health fees and what not, and ill probably miss a few days, so I would miss about $50 a day potentially. I'm still really excited. Today I have to get my clothes ready for tomorrow and I have to set up a bunch of stuff.

Wow....that's some good dough of monnneeeeyyy! Sorry I had to so that! Anyways I really do wish you the best of luck. I'm crossing my fingers for you to get the job! Also it will help you with many things, and do you good as well.

I think the program is in other cities and states as well but under different names. You know what I like the most? The program is a lottery, so every year, you sign up to work for that year and then about 1 in every 15 or so people who signed up get picked to work for that year, but I get automatically accepted every year because of who I live with.

Eniitan : Lol, it's not THAT much. O think that's only minimum wage. I could have sworn that minimum wage went up by like $1 or a bit more at the start of the year but according to the program the minimum wage had only gone up by a so little, but in the long wrong, it's a decent boost.

The money would probably all be gone before I even start school again in the middle of September because of all the things I would need to get.

It's win win though because if I don't get the job I get to stay home all summer and it would be a nice change, being able to relax.

zanderlex : Ok sorry about that but the way you listed it sounded a lot. It still good on a balance like that. Yeah I suspect it would because you would be buying things that you would and need for. So it understandable that the way of that system goes. It wouldn't be nice if you don't get the job I really hope that you do. '-'
