I always strive to do my best, rather than be perfect. I know I'm not perfect and even if I try hard, I still don't get the perfect grade. Instead, it's better to just try my hardest to get the highest grade I can get. When I do that, I'll be happy with myself.

I feel like I have a certain part of me that is addicted to perfection, and I'm trying to "rehab" it. In the past I tried to always be a perfectionist on pretty much everything I did. How wrong I was.

Not that I have completely eliminated this form my personality, it's still there. Sometimes I do am a perfectionist, but nowadays I'm a perfectionist only with things I like to do to myself (as in, creating a script for something that will help me do X, playing a game to get Y achievements, etc.). Instead of trying to eliminate this from my life, I've just accepted it as part of me and settled it down to what really matters: being a perfectionist to make me happy with myself.

It would be like the worlds greatest marksman making an attempt to shoot at something, but hasn't the slightest clue as to where or what it is.

I do everything I can to get by with what I'm given, which is usually hardly anything. fixing windows with packing tape, fixing leaky toilets with rubber bands, insulating around window air conditioner units with plastic grocery sacks, etc. If it works, it works and if it doesn't, you tried.

I never strive for anything that I know is out of reach. Like, it's good to set goals and all but if they're unreachable then you will just feel disappointed.

I typically look at my past results and set the bar just slightly above that, so I know that if I try my hardest I can reach it. And if I don't reach it I can laugh about it saying that I was too lazy.

I have a bad habit of beating myself for not being good enough at one thing or another.  But at the same time, I don't strive for full-fledged "perfection."  The way I see it, no matter how much better or worse someone else is at something when compared to me, so long as I'm doing well enough to achieve what I need to achieve, that's all that matters.
