What tough love has ever been shown to you?

Have you ever used tough love on anyone?

What life lessons did you learn from it? Or did you not learn any life lessons from it?

What did you expect the person to do when used used it?  Grow up.

I think tough love is one of the best ways for people to learn.

I like to refer to it as natural consequences. If you don't do something and there is a natural consequence that stems from that choice then likely the best "punishment" for that choice is the natural consequence that occurs.

I hate when I would hear about friends who were late coming home or something and were punished in some totally random way that didn't make sense. Another example, they didn't clean their room so as a punishment they weren't allowed to go out. They don't go together.

Anyway, I use tough love on my kids all the time when it makes sense to.

Well yeah its the best way to go when someone doesn't listen to you. And when they do something you warned them about it ends up in a disaster. Its as geeo said its the best way to show that you truly care and love that person. I know this was used on my by my family my parents and my auntys and uncles as well. But I always listened so I wouldn't normally get into trouble as much. '-'

My Father once ran up and slapped my Brother in the face because he was turning on and off the light. Nothing was learned because it was very stupid and it just gave my brother another reason to complain. At the time my Brother and Father were squabbling, my Father had a tendency to fight with his teenage children even if they didn't want to fight about something, he practically created most of the conflict.
