We all have opinions. Different ones. Humans, despite not agreeing with everything we see, have a natural curiosity and interest in the opinions of others. We all have different mindsets and goals. If we all were the same, the world would be very boring. However, we sometimes might take our opinions too far. For example, in may, when I still worked at my former Job, Just Energy, I rattled and chastised my brother on how he shouldn't be lazy and should come to work at every given opportunity, even though he was taking a break. It got us into an argument, at the end of which I apologized and felt rather remorseful for shoving my blunt mindset down my brother's throat. (My brother is on this website. He calls himself "Ghettio". https://www.vizzed.com/boards/profile.php?id=182722  )

Did you ever happen to force your opinion on someone? If you did, did you regret it or not? Thanks for listening.

Ultrajeff :   first off, there is no point in forcing your opinion on someone if you cannot or are not willing to change yourself.  Second, communist and socialist are somewhat close in comparison.  There should be an equality between the "boss" and the "employee" because without one, neither has a job.  You should never apologise  for your opinions, even if you feel you might be wrong.  When it comes to profanity, there is a time and place for it.  Some work places almost call for it daily.  When I burn or cut my hands working on cars, I swear profusely just like everyone else does.  On line or at home, I keep it to myself.  A few thoughts from myself to you.  Don't be sorry for who you are...ever

It is done all the time on here. People have different views and try to say which side is right. Most of the time it is pretty civil, sometimes it gets ugly. People should attempt to settle things rationally and fairly, and I think we do a good job of that on here. Lord Belial is correct on swearing,if one swears too much,it diminishes the effect of the words. Not to mention it makes someone look like they are ignorant or unintelligent. I only really use it on here to emphasize how I feel. In my private life,I do swear at times, but usually a mild "Damn" or the S-word. I only go off if angered.

We all have opinions, but only say your opinion if it needs to be said.

When I said "Profanity is the bane of our existence", I was clearly foolish, as I said that without consideration of profanity as a robust, double-edged sword. Saying I liked communism seemed embarrassing once I found out how corrupt and unpopular it is. As a doubtful person with low self-esteem, apologizing is my self defense mechanism. I use it to avoid arguments and confrontations. I strongly regretted my old threads for either being written quite poorly, or for sounding obnoxious and ignorant. I can't help but apologize for actions which seem undesirable. But maybe you're right. I shouldn't cry over spilled milk. But you didn't answer my question; were you forced to do something against your own will, despite not liking it? When you tell me this stuff, it feels like this particular thread was worthless. I'm sorry for wasting your time.

I'm sure I have at some point lol. Sometimes I come across that way as I have Autism so sometimes my wording is misunderstood. I usually though try to remain civil and at the end agree to disagree. However, if a person starts calling me names or cuss words. Then I might seem like I'm forcing my opinion on them.

When I was younger, yes, I was a real ass about it too. Now I give a harsh opinion as is on certain things, either a band I hate, or a game I can't stand, and so on, but really I don't force my opinion. Harsh yes, force no. The problem is on the internet today people get so easily upset over someone saying a band sucks, or a game sucks, when they could easily say "I disagree" and discuss it like adults. Anymore when I give an opinion, I almost have to give a disclaimer that if someone enjoys something I don't like, they are more then welcome to do so, I am not going to hate them, but when they get mad, and throw insults like a child, then all gloves are off lol.

Its like kind of hard to answer that, because I am sure most people of today would. I wouldn't want to force my opinion on someone. Because everyone has a say in something. Even if they are right or wrong. All some people would want is for people to hear what type of opinions that they have, and at least try and respect it. Not everybody is going to agree with most things, but will agree on something. That's how life works. Not everyone can like the same thing without having like someone to disagree with because of their reasons. I do hope I explained the question that you asked. '-'

There is a saying that goes "Opinions are like (bad word), everybody has one."

I have opinions and I have thoughts but who's to say anything I believe or think or expect is right for anyone else. That's the point of opinions. I know what I like and I'm the last person to criticize others for what they want or what their goals and objectives are in life. As long as people aren't hurting others, do what you darn well please and have fun with it. That should be the mantra of all of us.

So, no, I never force an opinion on someone else. I'm a fan of teaching within the frame of society, so I encourage my daughter to not pick her nose in public or show everyone her underwear that she's proud to be wearing. There's a level of acceptable behavior I teach her but it's not like I say, "This is exactly what the world demands of you."

I'll let her, and everyone else, figure that out.

I used to. Asperger's, depression, that all affected me, but now I'm just listing excuses, heh.

I don't anymore, but it may seem like I am to others, even though it is not my intention. I will say this: Debating is NOT the same thing as forcing your opinion on someone. It is an event to convince the other person that what you believe is right, and sometimes, that doesn't even happen in debates. Forcing an opinion on someone should be compared more with arguing than debating.

I do not think I ever forced my opinion on someone. If I want someone to think as I do I use arguments and proof to show that I am right. Should I be proved wrong then I will gladly switch opinions, because otherwise I would be a total fool.

Granted, I used to think that people believing in X were fools (or worse words), but now I understand human nature better. Since people are moved by incentives (whatever they may be) then making such or such choice (or believe such or such thing) is rational considering their incentives.
