I've been told a few times by several users that a specific font I've used in some of my guides is unreadable. However, I know of other users, besides myself of course, that have stated they can read such font without any trouble. Since I don't get much feedback on my guides, and sometimes said feedback arrives very late, it's time I get this over with once and for all.

I have a determined set of fonts to use which are readable by everyone (or at least I haven't received feedback saying the opposite), but sometimes I'm forced to use other fonts that aren't within my set, simply because I mirror the colors the game itself uses. I know of at least two games that use the troublesome color, so in advance to writing such projects, I'm on a quest to find a font that everyone can read.

These are the first three fonts I found that could be used.

1- Can you read this font? Better with or without bold?

2- Can you read this font? Better with or without bold?

3- Can you read this font? Better with or without bold?

If you are wondering, the troublesome font was 3. Preferably, I would go with bold, but if it's easier to read without it, so be it.

Which is more readable for you? Any other similar font you think would fit better? All the feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I am the odd one I guess because I think 3 and the bolded one is the easiest to read.

If you're looking at the actual post page, then I agree with awesomeguy, #3 (bolded) is the easiest one to read. But here, on the "reply to post" page, #1 is the easiest to read. It's pretty hard to see the other two. I hope it kind of helped. 

Font 1 is pretty much impossible for me to read either way without getting my face right up against my laptop screen.

Font 2 is readable when it's bolded, but I have the same issue as I had with Font 1 when it's not bolded.

Font 3 is by far the easiest one for me. I can read that one with or without the bold. I'd still stick with bold on that one though.

I must admit I didn't even preview those fonts, because in Word they more or less looked fine. Font 2 is an absolute no because it differs from the black color I must mirror, so probably I should run a search for other shades of black and see if they don't blend much with Vizzed's layout.

Rday, you're making me wonder if the people who said it was unreadable said so because they looked at the reply page instead of the guide itself. I'll go back and see who said it was unreadable and ask them out.

I can barely see 1 and 2 with that layout of yours but 3 bolded is really easy to see.

EX Palen : lol, I didn't mean an actual layout. Layout as in like the way it's formated, like the contrasts right next to each other make it hard to see even more for some of them.

zanderlex : Ah, okay. Good to know as well, because sometimes the guide calls for many different color fonts right below each other just like in this thread.

I can't read any of the fonts because the colour choice is terrible but the font itself is really nice

I'm quite confused by your post. Can you please explain yourself a bit more? I really need to know if number 3 can be used or I must search for other shades of black.

EX Palen : Your layout's really dark so a black font won't really work.
If you're talking about without layouts enabled, I see no issue.

Good to hear that all the feedback so far is okay with font 3. At this rate, you'll have me convinced in no time

I was one of the people who said that font 3 was a little unreadable, and I was looking at the guide itself... (the reply page looks the same to me as the actual page for the guide... and for the record, I read threads when I'm on the thread page, not the reply page) but it's not nearly as bad as font 1. Font 1 is awful. And font 2 isn't much better. Font 3 is at least readable without hurting my eyes, even though I don't think it's as good as a font that pops out and is easier to read (bright colors like green, purple... one of the exceptions is blue because it just blends in with the vizzed layout). I guess I thought it was unreadable compared to the brighter colors, which I thought poped out more and had more contrast to the vizzed layout.

Also, bold is much better. It also pops out more.

ZeroTails : Like I said in the opening post, I don't use black as a color (anymore) unless prompted to by the game itself, so using these fonts will be a rarity. I prefer to stay true to the game and follow its color scheme rather than changing the colors to fit the layout, since it can bring confusion to players.

EX Palen : I don't really mind it being used if it's going to be a rarity. I'm not gonna make a big deal out of a color that get's used occasionally, and it's honestly not as bad as other colors you could use :p.

The color font looks so much better now . I can read it without a problem .

Also, I never really had the idea of color coding by the game itself. I mean, I guess I did to an extent because two of my unfinished guides have part of it color coded by the colors of the item and the other half by what would pop out, but I never thought that it could confuse the player ^^'. I think I'll try that sometime in the summer, when I have more time for writing guides.
