We all know of the phrase "Survival of the fittest". The strong live and the weak must perish. But is it really that simple? Darwin later wholeheartedly admitted that he was wrong; He spoke of how humans can't absolutely identify what is needed for our survival, so killing the "Weak and undesirable" would weaken us immensely. Also, everyone who is born "undesirable" can achieve greater status in time. It should be noted that "fittest" does not mean strongest.

Also, countries like Nazi Germany also heavily believed in something similar to this and ethnic "natural selection". You can see what that ultimately led to. We should find out. Do you believe the strong need to reign over "weaklings"? Or should we strive for equality, and notice the gifts that every single individual can offer? Speak accordingly.

I don't really like the term. "Fittest" can be determined in any number of ways. In one way or another, everyone has something their superior at than those around them. If this mantra were to be followed, depending on the criteria, anyone could be weeded out.  Just because someone is strong in one aspect, they may still need all the help in the world in another. Everyone should be treated equally, and praised for what contributions they can bring instead of focusing on what they're not strong with. I believe society will be much more prosperous in this scenario, instead of calling someone "weak" and condemning them for not excelling in one criteria and/or another. That's not to say people shouldn't work for what they have, just that what they can contribute should outweigh what they can't.

Natural selection no longer really applies to humans as individuals anymore. You could just dig through trash and find yourself reasonably healthy. However, it does apply to civilizations. The best civilizations end up squishing the other, weaker civilizations. France right now is losing their tax base to Belgium and Luxembourg, showing that their economy and tax systems are not adequate to retain their citizens. The west is barely gaining population by birth rate while Islam is exploding because they're still having children. There are multiple aspects where civilizations are fighting among each other in a political Darwinian fitness. Before the current wars was capitalism vs communism. Before that was industrial revolution. Before that was republics vs monarchies. And the list goes on.

Let's all get one thing straight first:  It's not "survival of the fittest," it's "Survival of the most adaptable."  Charles Darwin indicated that plants and animals and micro-organisms that can adapt to environmental changes are the ones that will succeed in passing their genes on to the next generation.  The strongest doesn't mean the most adaptable.  There are times when brute strength may not come in handy for a species, or where smaller sizes allow species to run, hide, or escape and evade predators.  Look at the massive land animals of the past few million years.  They're gone.

Humans, or other animals/diseases/etc, went after the big animals because they were efficient in clothing and feeding large numbers of people.  So those 'fittest' animals died from their size and strength and muscle mass.

The best should pass on their genes, though. Define best how you want to.  Nature makes sure that sort of thing happens anyway.  The Germans, someone used the example, tried to push only a certain group of people to continue living.  The folks that orchestrated that aren't here any more.  Problem solved.

physically compete against one another, as in gaining leadership of a pack and gaining "breeding rights", to be
"able" to breed with another gender of your species, to establish pecking order, where if you are last and there
isn't enough food to go around, or where the oligarchy has brought the First Horseman upon the Earth, with of
drought, where an animal won't have enough to drink.
  and in a situation where physical prowess will determine whether you are eaten or not, or whether you eat another
animal. if an animal does not win and is not able to breed, then his line is lost, therefore the "survival of the

in Darwinism, "survival of the fittest," is about "adaptability". for most animals, it is the physical adaption
which will lead to ADAPTABILITY to be able to SURVIVE as a species. in other cases, such as mutation, or from
nuclear waste, this will cause one of the extinctions of Man, for a species to die; or in a timeline, for a single
indidual to perish first in the next few years, and then in other cases for the rest of the species to die off years

the doo-doo bird wasn't all that smart, it lack of intelligence having something to do with this species having died
off. in another instance, as relating specifically to intelligence vs physical adaptability, the chimpanzee was able
to "adapt" to its environment by being smart enough to hide in the trees from predators. then, when the trees
thinned and it made it harder for the chimpanzee's to survive with a lack of nourishment and water and food, the
chimpanzee had to walk along the ground to find their food, further and further, before they adapted into the
caveman and Cromagnum pre-civilization Human. it was specifically because the caveman had to become smarter to
"remember" where food and berries and nourishment could be found, which increased their IQ.
   Additionally, by becoming smarter, this led to the ability to create "tools". and so it came to pass that the
caveman's brain grew in size, and of this animal of Man to then becometh of higher IQ.
however, after migration and time to pass, caveman now lived in other parts of the world besides the Fertile Crest
of Mesopetamia. when the European caveman evolved, called the Homo Sapien, when they built "tools" they made
instruments designed only to kill and murder, to hurt and harm; and this was all they made, or cared about.
   Meanwhile, the peaceful Cronagnum caveman was a kind animal pre-Human, making only "tools" which were of beauty
and art, for of celebration and to provide in happiness. this happy and joyful animal danced around the campfire to

race of man to become extinct. so the European caveman became so smart that they figured out how to cause the
extinction of an entire race of Humans, though i don't think you can call this "smart". but, in pre-historic times,
it was a form of "smart" over adaptability, as the European caveman only made TOOLS of war and death and the
peaceful caveman only made tools of beauty and joy and to bring love for all their people.
    however, with today's 21st technology, where our technology in war and territorial expansion and desire for
world domination can cause the entire world to be destroyed. therefore, "smart" is no longer in creating tools of
war and death and to in conflict with one another. instead, in todays world, "smart" is to work together for a
common cause which will prevent Man from becoming extinct. additionally, poisoning our own people will also cause
another extinction of Man. So when the oligarchy poisons us in every conceivable way, this will lead to the

      do not be a God hater or have a lack of love for the Lord, or of World War 3 to end of Man. all you have to do is to perform the Ritual of Purification, where you have all of the virtues listed in the Holy Bible and all of the virtues that are known to Man. if you do this, if everyone in this nation and in the world does this, then we can prevent World War 3 from happening. there are 2 ways to prevent World War 3 from happening and this is the first.

Now, I'm not very learned on this topic, but I do have some knowledge of it, so I'll put my thoughts down here.

For one, I don't think that Darwin's "Survival of the Fittest" can be used in a literal sense most of the time. In modern society, most people are going to survive, whether through the collective aide or the individual effort. Of course, some people may just be born unable to survive, and this is always tragic, but it does, in fact, occur. Others are killed due to their environment, which they often cannot control, for better or worse.

Now, in some poor countries, survival of the fittest still applies. When there isn't an excess of food, shelter, or other resources, humans must compete for said resources. This often results in violence and death, the strong, clever, elusive, and lucky usually being the survivors of such situations. This is very similar to the animal kingdom, as a matter of fact. Of course, there will always be those who survive based on those around them whom are protecting them (which I mentioned before, as that would be classified as part of their environment), or simply through sheer luck.

Well, that's my two cents! It's been interesting seeing all of your opinions, as well.

I think the problem is when people hear "Survival of the fittest", the instantly think to someone strong. And that's not the case Darwin was trying to make.
His theory is that, when animals compete for the right to live, to be at top of the food chain, or just survive, is the animal that can adapt most to the environment around us. We humans are a prime example of this, adapting and surviving in places ranging from volcanic areas, deserts, frozen tundras, forests, plains, you name it.
In his studies through the Galapagos islands, he found various types of birds, which are now known as Darwin's finches.
He observed that, depending on how the layout of the island was, the bird would adapt to it. On one far reach of the island, there lived a species of birds that had long beaks. With these, they could break open cacti and other vegetation that was their feeding source.
On the other side, there lived a species of bird that had a shorter beak, who would tear the cacti along the edge and eat the pulp and larvae from it. Despite being similar birds, each adapted to their environment, and as such could survive. If, let's say, on the latter island there lived a bird with a short beak, it wouldn't be able to survive, since it's beak wouldn't allow it to break open the cacti. And vice versa.

Point I'm trying to say is, survival of the fittest is not about the strongest, smartest, or even the "best" animal/person. It's the one who can access the situation, and come out victorious through other means.

And that's the basis of the theory of evolution.

"survival of the fittest" means that the creatures most responsive to change have the best chance to survive. Considering the extent of the human ingenuity (i.e. it's pretty much infinite), even the weakest of humans (Down Syndrome, HIV, Alzheimer's) can actually hope for a quality of life even the richest people 100 years ago could not dream of.
