I was looking up some Pokemon stuff earlier today and I found a really interesting article, apparently a live action Pokemon movie, and I think that's AMAZING. Sure, there are plenty of ways that this could go wrong, but if they can pull this off, it could become something wonderful.

VideogamemanX : Oh yeah I forgot about that, but in that case I don't really blame it on being a video game movie, but more on a failed movie company making the movie. Back then Nintendo wasn't actually all that big, and thus a movie company that was mainly a failure with just a handful of big movies made the movie, whereas this one, only the biggest movie companies are competing to be the ones to make this movie.

VideogamemanX : No joke, no sarcasm, not being facetious, and make fun of me if you want, but I legitimately love that movie. And not in that 'It's so bad, it's good' way. I love Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, and Dennis (Freaking) Hopper. Sure, it was silly as heck, and why were they in some bizarre near future punk city, and most things had little to nothing to do with any of the games, although to be honest, they didn't have a lot to work with. So far the story had been, here's some plumbers, they're brothers, and they have to save this girl in this weird world. Even so, I watched the movie tons of times, and really do enjoy it. That was long, sorry. XD

Anyways... I can never understand the fascination of people who think, "Oh, man all these anime movies are coming out, and everyone loves them! I want them to make a live-action garbage version, but it has to be directed and casted by people who aren't even fans of the series, and won't do it justice. Then I'll throw my money away and watch it, and complain that it was terrible. Oh, boy! My favorite!"

More seriously, though, if the anime movies are making lots of money, and are of high quality... Just keep doing that. Do we need another Avatar: The Last-Live-Action Pronounce-Everything-Wrong-Bender? Or a Dragon Ball: DEvolution? Or poor unrelated quality live action Gundam (Yeah, they made one) movie, G-Savior? For every movie that turns out... Okay-ish, there are, like, 30 movies that are painfully bad... Why do movie companies keep trying this? If they hire real fans of the series, and have them work closely with the creators, then yes, it should be fantastic, but for some reason, that's not how the movie industry works. They give it to famous producers, who hires a bunch of people to tell them what the kids like, then they screw it up anyways, because they really want to make the most amount of money they can, rather than to actually provide a quality experience for long time fans of the series... Is my rant, and opinion on the matter... I type a lot. Thanks for reading this whole thing. XD

Really? Again? : Fortunatly I have some hopes for it because of who would be making the movie, all of the companies who want to make the movie are very well known and have made some VERY successful movies.

I don't see this working. You just can't make a live action movie from an animated series or game.... Silent Hill worked, Resident Evil worked, but aside from those, I can't think of anything else. I think a Assassin's Creed live action movie could go over well, but slinking around and skewering is literally 80% of the game, so taking that away by putting it into a movie would pretty much strip it of almost everything enjoyable about it.

As much as I love Pokémon, I really don't see this working. I mean most live action movies based off media don't work very well, and even if they do they are pretty lack-luster. Though if they manage to make it good then that would be good.

I live action Pokemon movie might be interesting, but it might not really be perfect.

zanderlex : Oh. I just read the article and I can see who might be interested. I also watched the commercial, and I really like it. I hope that that is what the movie might look like when it comes out. I hope that it comes out this year, as it is the 20th anniversary of Pokemon.

mario102 : Commercial? They didn't even make the movie yet, so there's no trailer or anything. Must have looked at something else. I doubt it will come out this year because they still haven't even found out who will be making the movie and once they do, it's going to take a pretty long time before it's actually finished.

zanderlex : There was a Super Bowl 50 commercial featured in the article. The commercial was about Pokemon's 20th anniversary, not the movie. Sorry if I did not make that clear. Oh, and I see that they didn't choose who will make it yet. Maybe by the time it's finished, it'll be Pokemon's 25th anniversary!

A crossover live-action cartoon? I liked Space Jam, but for Pokémon, that sounds even worse... Ugh... Just make another anime movie, because those are still good. XD

Also, I remember hearing about a possible Yu-Gi-Oh! Live action movie, with Frankie Muniz as Yugi a few years back. I guess that was just a rumor or something, because that hasn't happened yet... Hm.

Not sure how I would really feel about this. Usually movies based on cartoons/anime just don't do well. Let's look at the Last Airbender, Dragonball Evolution, or even the Attack on Titan movie all of which most fans hated. It seems like those who make these movies just aren't passionate enough about the source material to create an awesome experience for the fans. I love Pokemon and would probably watch this regardless of my feelings because of just how much of a fan I really am.

Anyway, in terms of implementation, I would love it to be a crossover live action cartoon. I used to love Space Jam and Who Framed Roger Rabbit as a kid and I love the artstyle of real life and cartoon mixing together. Having the Pokemon be CG(like in the commercial) wouldn't be too bad either. I wouldn't mind either style so long as it would look good.

Really? Again? : Can you omagine what it would be like trying to replicate the hair in a Yugioh live action film....? May be one of the reasons for the delay. Lol
