I honestly feelz like crying at this point but I also think it is important for me to say sorryz ahead of time to everyone who is going to worryz aboutz me while I'm dealing with this issue ... what happened was I was trying to transfer some things off of my phone and into my laptop to free up space in my phone and get some pics off of it so if my phone messed up they wouldn't be lost for foreverz

in the process of doing that my laptop was taking too long and I knowz I should have just ended the task and left it alone for a while and tried again laterz but I was being persistant in wanting it to work and it ended up making my laptop blue screen me and told me that there was an error and they were going to send a report and then restart my laptop without my permission I tried to abort it from doing that and nowz my laptop won't start up at all

I've tried to take it back to factory new using the recovery discs we gotz from when it did this to me last time and nowz even the discs aren't doing what they are supposed to ... you might be wondering 'if your laptop is broken then how are you talking to us' I'm using my mom's computer for the time being until the either the laptop can be fixed or I'm able to get a new one because at this rate my laptop did this on me twice nowz and it is a few yearz old anyway using Windows 8 ... I would have tried to put my laptop into 'Safe Mode' but it seems this laptop doesn't have one (great -.-# )

so anyway I'm letting all of you know what is going on and not to worryz I will be online though I'll be using my mom's computer to do so it is stillz me I'm just dealing with alot vT~Tv

That sucks! I hate how ridiculously fragile laptops can be sometimes. I've had ones that have been dropped down stairs and worked for years after that and then others did something stupid like what you described and cease to work properly. It's a real crap shoot with laptops whether you get a tough one or a cheap one.

I hope you're able to figure out a way to get it working again. Even if you have to do a full re-install of windows in order to do so.

granted Alien Ware is the top of the line in gaming laptops but I don't have that kind of money to spend on a laptop

well, the laptop I'm currently using is at least 5 years old and it is an MSI. It wasn't an amazing laptop to begin with so it's a bit low on ram now (only 4 gig) but it still runs pretty well. The one that I have (that is currently getting fixed) is an Asus which, from what I've heard, is one of the better brands right now as well.

It's not always about the brand though. Sometimes certain machines simply aren't constructed as well as others and break down easier.

Eh... don't be fooled... Alienware is not that great.
You are paying a lot for the name.

There are plenty of "gaming" laptops that cost a lot less and in a lot of cases, are better than Alienware.
I personally am partial to Asus ROG laptops, but I have seen some really great MSI gaming laptops.

Anyway, can you get into Window in safe mode?
Perhaps something that was installed or moved can be restored without the recovery discs.

Vanelan : The problem is that with Windows 8, they changed how the OS works, and the only way to enter 'Safe Mode' is if the laptop will turn on properly. It's kind of dumb, they programmed it so that you have to "Enable" 'Safe Mode' booting while the computer is working properly, or 'Safe Mode' can't be entered at all. Why in god's name they removed the F8 or Shift + F8 feature is beyond me, but that's the case, and the main issue here.

I searched online for over an hour trying to find a work-around, and the only thing I found (other than using the OS CD / DVD, which doesn't always work) is to boot it up and cut the power in the middle of the booting process repeatedly until it manually brings up the usual 'Safe Mode' screen. And from what I've read, even that is a crap-shoot...

Mynamescox44 : Fortunately, I haven't had to do that in a long time, but doesn't shift + f8 get you the menu or at least into the recovery mode?
From there, you should be able to get into safe... or perhaps even fix it from the recovery menu.

Vanelan : The problem is they removed the F8 / Shift F8 feature entirely from Windows 8. That specific OS doesn't even have the option of using it.
Like I said, the only way to get to Safe Mode is changing the system settings while the computer is already operational, which is a complete catch 22. If you don't set it ahead of time, when something goes wrong, there's no way to get into the computer to fix it.

I would assume it's just a way for them to squeeze more money out of people when things go wrong, and blame the user for not "being prepared" and learning that it has to be done in advance.

(And from what I've seen, the way to do it is buried under three layers of "Advanced Options" menus, meaning you have to open a menu, click "Advanced Options", click something else, click "Advanced Options" again, then click another tab to get to where you can Enable Safe Mode booting... It's utterly nonsensical how they set it up)

I'm going to be her spokesperson for a while until she can get things fixed with her laptop since we talk a lot in other ways that don't need a laptop.

Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get this taken care of but I'm sure things can be worked out, vizzed can be accessed from almost anything.

Mynamescox44 : Do you know if it would be possible to create a recovery USB from another Windows 8/10 PC? I mean just to get into the recovery mode. Not to actually restore.
Because I BELIEVE you can still get into safe mode from that recovery mode... at least that's how I read it somewhere.

So that's why you haven't been on very much, that really sucks and I wonder how your computer could break like that. I hope you manage to get a new computer or a laptop that won't break like that one did, until then I guess you'll have to use your moms computer I guess.

Any chance you'll show any of the specs??? I'm always interested in computer specs if people are willing to share them. You don't have to tell us how much you spent because that's personal but the specs would be neat

geeogree : sure if I can find all of the specs for it I'd be happyz to let everyone knowz aboutz it ^^

the laptops I've used before are Gateway and Toshiba at least that I've owned the others that I've used that belonged to my relatives are Dell and Alien Ware

I've also used my mom's Dell and HP desktop computers before I don't knowz the specs on any of them but they both work fine

I had a flash drive help with most of it though some of the other stuff will take alot of google searching tillz it is all back completely to normal ... eh such is life -.-;

Jygin : Dell and Alienware as a whole is mediocre. If you want a gaming computer, custom order one from NCIX and have them build it. If you don't mind it being a desktop, anyway. I'm a bit of a PC nerd, so take my word for it.

As far as laptops go, Lenovo's Thinkpad series is terrific from everything I've heard about it. Even 4chan's tech board loves them, and those guys hate everything

Most laptops I've had are not only SUPER flimsy, but they were also kind of crap at running games. At least online multiplayer games, and games with a lot going on in each level like Portal 2.

Glad to see, you got a new laptop! Are you liking it so far?
