So, I didn't think I was going to be overly excited about this movie but I hadn't really looked into it much. Well, the first official trailer came out for it today and I'm hooked. I want to see this movie now!

Anyone else have thoughts about this movie. I don't really want spoilers or "this is what happened in the book" because I, and many others, have not read any of the books.

Oh so I guess Disney is going to now milk the Star Wars franchise for everything the can......should have seen it coming. But hopefully the movie will be good and not extremely disappointing.

18mlivingston : if Force Awakens is any indication they are going to put the time and money into these movies to make them good. I know not everyone loved Force Awakens but I did and this one looks to be just as good as that one.

I have no problem with Disney making lots and lots of Star Wars movies. It's not like there is a lack of material to draw from and people want more. 7 movies in 40 years is pretty slow honestly. I'd love to see a new Star Wars movie each year even if it isn't all part of the main storyline. I'll take side stories such as this if they are given the time and budget to be done properly.

Eh, I'm more excited for the Han Solo film, really excited or that, but this still looks really good, and I personally think that plot wise, this could be better than some of the episodes.

Well, this is certainly a surprise to me! I've only watched the movies of the series. Never read the books or anything. I assume they are going to use this movie to keep us occupied while we wait for Episode 8? This'll be interesting, I'll definitely go watch it whenever it comes out. Thanks for sharing this!

I honestly hope that there are more movies like this that fill in the blanks of the Star Wars story that we know but don't get to see. I feel like we saw enough of Luke, Leia and Han during the original trilogy that it would be nice to see more of the "war" and less of what those 3 were doing during that same time period.

I would also love to see Old Republic stuff if someone was inclined to make a screenplay for that. Honestly as long as Disney puts a proper budget behind every single one of these movies I will pay to see them. I love the Star Wars universe and want as much of it as I can get.

Very good point. Imagine the confusion some people would have going into this movie thinking it somehow continues the story only to have it set before Episode 4 in the time line. That could be pretty confusing for people. This way the name links to Star Wars but doesn't have the same format as the "official" episodes. I hadn't even considered that until you said it but it does make sense.

The movie is about the stealing of the Death Star plans, right? If so, I curse the producers for their stupid political correctness. In the expanded universe, "everyone" knows that the plans were stolen by Kyle Katarn - there even was a video game, Dark Forces. Breaking away from the expanded universe with the new trilogy is one thing. I have not read it in a long time, but I am sure there would be some conflicts at some point.

HOWEVER, this breaking away seems to be one too many. If the original character is a male, why change it?
