Pick a candidate (Democrat or Republican) and discuss their "plan" for helping the United States and other countries. If this becomes too out of hand, i'll have the mods close and trash it (Or treasure it depending on the circumstances)

My pick is Bernie Sanders, heres why.

Bernie Sanders- Bernie is my pick for President of the United States come 2017, and one that is actually possible if he continues with his support from all of his campaign members. I agree with Bernie on a lot of issues, which makes me favor him over the likes of Hillary Clinton.

Income and Wealth- As Bernie Sanders has stated publicly time after time,

"Today, we live in the richest country in the history of the world, but that reality means little because much of that wealth is controlled by a tiny handful of individuals.",

He really does believe in the fact that the 1% of Americans earning upwards of $200,000 have more power and more political influence affecting the 99% than the people that are actually part of the 99%. The top 1% is a problem for many of the American people who can't get any influence due to rigged campaigns and congress not working with anyone to pass any legislation affecting anyone other than the rich. As Bernie Sanders has said,

"America now has more wealth and income inequality than any major developed country on earth, and the gap between the very rich and everyone else is wider than at any time since the 1920s."

This whole statement sums up why he is trying at the Presidency this year, its to start a political revolution. Bernie is trying to close the wealth and income inequality just a little in order for the people getting paid minimum wage, or slightly above, to have a living wage, enough to support a family. At $7.25 an hour, the current minimum wage, a full time job will still land you under the poverty line. Bernie believes in a $15 minimum wage, which is accomplished by taxing those earning upwards of $200,000 a year and all the way up to $10,000,000 a year, who are currently paying just a bit more than those who make $75,000 a year. By making the rich pay more taxes, and closing all of their evasion techniques, a living wage of $15 an hour for all workers is easily accomplished. Bernie is also in huge support of making tons of jobs to support our crumbling infrastructure and expanding social security, so even children and the elderly don't have to live in poverty, not knowing where their next meal is coming from, even when their parents have full time jobs or in the case of the elderly are already retired.

College Tuition- Bernie Sanders is running a campaign that appeals to many young voters some of which is in response to making college tuition free and get rid of student loan debts. To use evidence of how this would work Bernie has stated the obvious,

" Finland, Norway, Sweden and many other countries around the world also offer free college to all of their citizens. If other countries can take this action, so can the United States of America."

This whole idea isn't a radical idea that he randomly thought of, this is something that has worked all around the world and supports some of the best education in the world. Germany recently made college tuition free, and they had only charged $1,300 to their students. Some people may think that we can't fund this, but the entire plan is pain for in complete by imposing a tax on wall street speculation. This would funs tons of money for the Government, more than enough to fund the $75 billion a year plan for free education, which would lower through the years.

Campaign Financing- During Bernie's campaign this year, he has raised $138.8 million dollars for his campaign. However, 99.8% of his financing has come from the people, averaging at $27 per donation. He only has 0.2% of his campaign donations coming from corporations, PACs and Super PACs. Bernie has worked to fight the campaign financing system and will fight to eliminate Super PACs from politics. These Super PACs influence candidates and their policies, whether you believe it or not, and is a major problem. This is why most of congress are part of the 1% and brought a wealth into their job as congress men.

Climate Change- Believe it or not, Climate Change is real, and its happening quickly. Bernie Sanders wants to help the Green effort to have renewable energy sources implanted in ALL uses in the United States by 2050. Bernie Sanders wants to get the fossil fuel industries out of politics, which is currently the driving force as to why nothing is being done about it. With them out of politics, pushes for renewable energy sources would gain momentum and lead to the plan working. This whole climate change thing will put hundreds of thousands to work, also helping out with the economy along the way.

Immigration- A fair and Humane immigration set up is what Bernie Sanders pushes. This does not mean illegal immigrants will be legal, but those who have family, who are helping the economy, and who are following all of the rules of society will be allowed to stay with their families and with their jobs. No life is worse than that of not having a job, being unable to see your family, and always be at risk for deportation.

Medicare for All- Bernie Sanders has said many times that he supports a single payer, Medicare for all system for all United States citizens, even taking it a step farther by calling it a right in the following statement,

"Health care must be recognized as a right, not a privilege. Every man, woman and child in our country should be able to access the health care they need regardless of their income. The only long-term solution to America's health care crisis is a single-payer national health care program."

This is a strong statement, as it goes against Obamacare and everything Hillary is about trying to help with Obamacare and not have a new system of health care. I do agree with Bernie Sanders, if your family doesn't have enough money to go to the doctor when your kids are sick, this is a problem. A Medicare for all system would allow anyone to go to the doctor when they are sick regardless of their given income.

Other Issues- Bernie Sanders has many other stances on issues, which I will briefly discuss.
Human Rights- All people have Human rights, it doesn't matter your skin color or income. This is something he has been fighting for even way back in the civil rights movement, where he participated in the March On Washington.
Wage Gap- Bernie Sanders that men and woman should be paid the same for the same work, and pushes this on a daily basis. Bernie wants them to have the same rights and opportunities allowing for a sane country.
War- War isn't the way to go. Bernie Sanders voted against going into Iraq and is only for war when completely necessary. He was scared of the rise of an ISIS type of group when we put Sudam Hussain out of power, and he was right. He understood that we should think before making these decisions to go to war, and is against just running in there.
Wall Street and the big Banks- Bernie Sanders wants to break up these banks that are "Too Big To Fail" as they control too much money and too much political power in the United States, and cannot continue to be bailed out by the American people. Also closing loopholes on wall street would make it a more sane place to be and would allow for more money to come into the Government funding.

Barathemos : From the looks of it, it appears Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have been winning the pre-elections although it appears Donald Trump is trying to purposely hurt his campaign by saying things that will turn his supporters against him.

$$$$ : As for Donald Trump, I feel that he's said too many stupid things. His supporters, most of them at least, seem to be supporting him through anything stupid he says, and he even gains more. However, as of late, I feel like some people have started to realize what is going on with him and how crazy he actually is as a person, and are starting to move more to Ted Cruz (the zodiac killer) and John Kasich.

As for Hillary Clinton, if it weren't for her huge super delegate lead, which as we all know can change at any time, Bernie Sanders has closed much of her lead, and leading into Wisconsin (a state Bernie currently leads in) and New York (a state where Bernie is closing in on Hillary), he does have a good shot to catch her in pledged delegates before the convention. There are also many other contests in which he leads and can gain a good amount of delegates to be able to win the nomination for the democratic party.

Even if I could vote, I would not because none of the candidates represent my ideas.

On the Republican side, some of the candidates do make good (theoretical) sense about economics and wanting to abolish a few departments the Constitution. However, people like Cruz are... very religiously conservative to put it mildly. In other words, they want a more hands-off approach to the economy but want government control in the bedroom for what happens between CONSENTING adults. And do not even get me started on Donald Trump. He is a fascist, using eminent domain for his own personal gain. And his trade policies would be disastrous for the economy like the Smooth-Hailey tariffs were in 1929.

On the Democrat side, we have people who basically are government worshippers. It is as if it were a competition to see who would propose the most unsustainable economic policies and who would tax more the heart and soul of taxpayers, whose burden is already getting heavy. From healthcare to education, from climate to trade, they would finish off the economy once and for all.

janus : While neither of the candidates are really good ones, there's only so much that you can get out of a president some times.

Saying that Donald Trump is a fascist is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention that I don't think you know what you're actually saying, because most people's claims actually point towards a Nazism based viewpoint, not Fascism, both of which are utterly ludicrous accusations. I don't like Donald Trump one bit, I'd have taken Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, or, really, just a good deal of the republican candidates over on the republican side, but calling him a fascist is blatantly ignorant.

Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is deceptive and completely untrustworthy. She should be in prison right now, not running for president. I at least liked some of what Bernie Sanders said, despite being a Republican, but Hillary Clinton is beyond any redemption.
