My mother just bought back my stepfather in our life. I'm not too surprised as she has done this over several times before. All of which ending with a enormous fight or argument. I have no idea why she keeps on doing this. Maybe it's out of sympathy or the thought that he might change. I don't know. One way or another, I'm expecting the worse to happen. I'm afraid this is going to have a bad impact on my little brother and sister. To tell the truth, I really don't like talking too much about my personal life, but I'm tired of this drama with her and him, so I figured this would be the best place ask for some advice regarding this matter. If anyone has any advice, please don't hesitate to offer some.

I'm sure you've already heard this, but have you tried talking with her? I'd really suggest it. Be honest, and tell her your fears. Don't pull any punches, but don't go for the jugular either. Hope things work out for you, man

There have been many times in which he physically abused my mother, but I just didn't have it in me to call the authorities on him mainly because I wasn't certain about how it was going to affect my little bro and sis. You see, on my stepfather's side they are actually his children. I didn't want them to witness their own father go to jail especially if I was the one who called. If worse ever came to worse, I may really have to the cops. Which I'm praying to god doesn't happen. We already have enough problems in our lives as it is.

Rasenganfan2 : I have tried talking to my mother on numerous occasions, but she just kept going on about "Well, lets see what happens this time." Or "I want to make this work out for us this time." To be honest, I don't think she even cares anymore. It's very obvious he hasn't changed one bit since last time. I just hope that one day she'll be able to finally open her eyes. Thanks man. Final Weapon : I did PM you in further detail what to do aboutz the situation though if thingz get dire then swallow the consequences and do what is right for your family since they are too blind or scared to do it themselves callz the cops on him preferably while your younger siblings aren't there and have him arrested and taken away for assault on your mother if she gets angry at you then just tellz it to her straight that you were done giving that a*s hole more chances because you can see even if she can't that he isn't going to change and that you didn't want to come home one day to find her dead because he killed her out of stupid rage ... the sad fact is people like him need to be behind bars and never let back out since they are a danger to all the women in society

As a previous poster had mentioned you could talk to your mother and see if she will set some hard boundaries with him, or if she is insistent on trying to make things work then perhaps they could see a counselor to help them figure things out.  I know how this situation feels because when I was growing up I was in a similar situation.  The hardest part to come to grips with is the fact that it's your mother's decision if she is going to try to stay in an abusive relationship.  The outside influences won't change the way she interprets the situation for example you could call the cops and the come and take your stepfather away for a short period of time, and if your mother is not ready to step away from the situation she will most likely make an excuse for the behavior just to keep things from changing.  I truly wish you and your family well and hope that things turn out alright.  For you I would wish that you just do what I did and learn from the situation to become a better man through knowing how not to act.  My children won't fear me nor will my wife, and they will know that the sacrifices I've made are because I want them to be happy. 

Local Mods : As predicted, things started out pretty badly for my mother and stepfather, but eventually got better over time. Now he's currently about to peacefully leave. We tried to make things work, but didn't go as planned. We'll see how it goes again in the future. Hopefully, it'll be better. My bro and sis actually want to have him in their lives.
