It wasn't "who would win in a fight?". And if it was, Sonic would just jump over the cluster bombs, homing attack Samus, and bounce off a spring to once again dodge the cluster bombs. Or, he could find some Chaos Emeralds, go super sonic, and the BAM! it's over. Samus loses.
