Does anyone know the best programming language for making a game? I have a great idea for an action game.

Chart : I suggest learning C# and looking into the Unity Engine. It's pretty good for beginners.

I agree with yoshirulez!, definitely go with C#. Even though I'm not "fluent" with it at all, I definitely view it as the closest thing to a universal programming language. Think of it as the English of programming languages.

I was going to say C++ or C#, but it looks like I should switch that around. You could also look into Java (which is very much like C#).

I have to agree with everyone else. Depending on what type of game you actually want to program C++ and C# are the best languages to start with. Java and Action script might be good as well.

Then once you get the hang of some or all of those, you can transfer into a more "3D" type engine/language for more advanced type scripting.
