Well...That sucks. I was just listening to a David Bowie song too! And je released a new album like, what, four days ago? Man...He wasn't as old as I assumed he was. But, a legend has passed. This is a sad day for music.

It's a Sad day indeed....

Can we ever truly say goodbye to someone who has inspired so many different creative minds? One that taught us embrace the true "oddities" within ourselves? I don't really think you can. Like many people around my age I was introduced to Mr. Bowies work because of my love for the movie "Labyrinth" as a child and wanted to know more. So my mom and Dad started showing me his music...that set off a life long love for this man and his music. I am thankful to have seen him in concert in '95 with Nine Inch Nails. A ticket that I got from my mom for my birthday. A set that is still among my favorites that I have EVER experienced in my lifetime...I was hoping to be able to see him one more time with the release of this new album but alas, it was not meant to be.

So it seems that the album "Blackstar" was indeed supposed to be a goodbye to his fans. He knew that he wasn't long for the world, and wanted to give us what any great Bowie fan would want. Some of his WONDERFUL music. I picked it up on Vinyl and I HIGHLY recommend checking it out if you haven't yet.

I found it interesting that one of Davids producers said that he had an album concept in mind for ANOTHER album near the end of his life. Such a great and creative person. I wish he could have stayed around forever making his great music and teaching us all the ways of life.

I must just not "get" David Bowie because I didn't like most of his music. I know there are some songs of his I have liked over the years but I tried to find a best hits album and listen to it and there were only a handful of songs I even recognized.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't get why he was such a big deal.
