Do we have any fans of American Idol in here? It's in the middle of its 15th and final season right now.

I like the show, I watch a few episodes per season, including the final 2-3 of each one, with my favorites being the ones with Adam Cook and Scotty Mccreery.

I used to watch it a lot, back in the first few seasons.  I rarely watch it these days.  I remember Kelly Clarkson singing her original song "Moment Like This" to win the competition.  I remember Ruben Studdard beating out Clay Aiken by a few thousand votes.  I remember Taylor Hicks and his supernal dance moves.  I remember Sanjaya Malakar making it into the top six.  I remember votefortheworst.com and its campaign to get who they deemed the least appealing singer to win it all.  I remember voting for Nadia Turner because of her afro, and was disappointed when she traded it in for a mohawk.  I think I treasure those memories, because I can look back on them and laugh and smile and learn.

...I'll admit, I only watch American Idol for the really bad/funny auditions at the start. I don't deny that the better singers are good and enjoyable, but I just like to watch the bad, stupid ones. I'm easy to impress with that sort of stuff. I like stupid funny.

SWTerra : It can be funny when a bad singer thinks they can sing and they end up humiliating them, though I'm pretty sure they decide not to air the really bad ones and I don't think it gets too humilating for them because they need to give permission to air their auditions.

I like that about him a lot, especially with how upset I get over the whole stereotype of millennials always getting some sort of "participation trophy" silliness, because they "tried it."

I don't like how strong he was with his criticisms, but it was a nice difference from the usual over-positivity and sugar-coating from most of the others.

After that it was on and off of watching but I was never a huge fan. My wife enjoyed it more than I did. I would watch it but in general the show really started to lag after a while.
